In this paper a set of services insisting on the portal are presented. Its evolution from a simple SDI to a comprehensive Geographical Knowledge Platform is reconstructed. The principles behind the implementation and the use of specific standard and interoperable services are reported.The importance of having control of the entire data integration system within an SDI is underlined because it allows you to merge and harmonize heterogeneous data sources, improving the quality and reliability of the available data. Adopting data integration and role-respecting practices helps create a culture of quality and accountability, fostering greater awareness of the importance of data and its use.uropenAll the actions taken, and described in this paper, were carried out with a particular attention to national and European legislations and the principles for FAIR data.","PeriodicalId":45380,"journal":{"name":"Rendiconti Online Societa Geologica Italiana","volume":"24 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135112164","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the Arburèse district (SW Sardinia), located in the Variscan low-grade metamorphic basement intruded by the Arbus (304 Ma) and Mt. Linas (289 Ma) plutons, the hydrothermal veins follow the contact with the Arbus pluton: in the northern part Pb-Zn ores prevail; conversely, in the southern branch they become five-element veins, showing a pinch and swell structure, breccia/cockades textures with alternating enriched (ore shoots) and low-mineralized zones. The overall mineral assemblages are: 1) native Bi and Ni-Co-Fe arsenides-sulfarsenides + quartz; 2) base-metal sulfides and sulfosalts + siderite; 3) late-stage quartz, followed by pyrite and calcite. New surveys in the area pointed out that important ore shoots occur: 1) where the veins are hosted in Silurian black shales, which can act as redox barrier; 2) at the intersection with earlier hydrothermal systems related to the Monte Linas pluton, where selective remobilization of As and Bi may have taken place. The vein system was explored only in its shallower parts, so it is possible that undiscovered ore shoots may be still present at depth.","PeriodicalId":45380,"journal":{"name":"Rendiconti Online Societa Geologica Italiana","volume":"24 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135112163","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This affects several processes, including surface runoff, infiltration into the unsaturated zone, leaching and transport of soil chemical components into groundwater. In August 2021 a forest fire burnt 25 hectares of pine tree forest and olive groves in the southern part of the Pisani Mountains (Tuscany, Italy). The objective of the work is to provide a characterization of in-situ hydraulic conductivity values of the soils of a small catchment intersecting the burnt area.To perform rapid in-situ repeatable soil measurements, four replicas of the Di Prima (2015) automatic single ring infiltrometer were built. These infiltrometers are capable of performing autonomous infiltration test thanks to the automated data acquisition system and their water supply system, reducing disturbances of the tested material.The infiltrometric survey allowed for identification of statistically significant differences in soil hydraulic conductivity between vegetational types, and between burnt and unburnt areas. The soil hydraulic conductivity results lower in the burnt pine tree forest compared with the olive groves. The automatic infiltrometers proved to be a repeatable and rapid soil hydraulic properties survey devices also in a rough mountainous environment.","PeriodicalId":45380,"journal":{"name":"Rendiconti Online Societa Geologica Italiana","volume":"217 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135117240","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

CL microscopy has one of its most common applications in geological research, however, such analysis is affected by brightness values not dependent on the CL response of analysed samples, but on the nature of instrumentation currently adopted.In this work a software has been developed, IBBIC, which is able to convert the brightness intensity of inhomogeneously distributed beams to simulate the response that the investigated materials would have had under the theoretically optimal conditions. Furthermore, it can reduce the contribution of a particular kind of noise, which remarkably manifests values of brightness unrelated to any actual luminescence effect. Moreover, it is equipped with tools capable of supporting the operator in choosing the appropriate parameters for image processing minimizing artefacts, which would otherwise be demanding, laborious and difficult to apply on a large collection of images.To assess the IBBIC software, it was run on 412 images provided by literature and acquired using CL microscopy in widely varying conditions. The results show that it can be applied to microscopy CL studies, as it does not significantly distort the CL response of the analysed samples, but it makes it possible to study correlations between image portions, which are far apart from each other.The software may be extremely helpful in CL studies and other similarly error- prone instruments, as such images pre-processing can pave the way for hitherto challenging and not widespread quantitative/semi-quantitative image analysis.","PeriodicalId":45380,"journal":{"name":"Rendiconti Online Societa Geologica Italiana","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135112162","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
