SINACLOUD knowledge platform to provide geographical services for the environment

Abstract

he Sinacloud knowledge platform is an ambitious project, partly already in place, developed since 2017 at ISPRA and continuously evolving. In this paper a set of services insisting on the portal are presented. Its evolution from a simple SDI to a comprehensive Geographical Knowledge Platform is reconstructed. The principles behind the implementation and the use of specific standard and interoperable services are reported.The importance of having control of the entire data integration system within an SDI is underlined because it allows you to merge and harmonize heterogeneous data sources, improving the quality and reliability of the available data. Adopting data integration and role-respecting practices helps create a culture of quality and accountability, fostering greater awareness of the importance of data and its use.uropenAll the actions taken, and described in this paper, were carried out with a particular attention to national and European legislations and the principles for FAIR data.
