Si survient un accident avec blessure, voire un deces, la premiere personne qui doit rendre des comptes a la justice est le PDG a moins qu’il n’ait auparavant delegue sa responsabilite. Une delegation de responsabilite doit respecter trois conditions : le delegataire doit : i) etre competent dans le domaine deleguee ; ii) disposer de moyens et iii) avoir autorite sur son equipe. Cependant, meme dans ces deux derniers cas, les variables sont le plus souvent considerees comme des variables deterministes. En reponse a ces difficultes, des methodes d'analyse integrent le caractere aleatoire. Une premiere demarche a ete le controle du niveau de fiabilite. L’analyse de l’efficacite du temps passe en maintenance est facile a mener sur le plan technique, mais elle est tres delicate a realiser sur le plan operationnel. En effet le personnel de maintenance va facilement la percevoir comme une analyse de productivite. Or, le mot « productivite » est souvent assimile par les salaries a une augmentation des cadences suivant les preceptes Tayloriens ou a la mise en place d’un systeme de surveillance. La philosophie de l’analyse de l’efficacite est tout autre. Il s’agit, non pas de voir comment on peut travailler « plus vite », mais comment on peut travailler « mieux », en eliminant toutes les causes de non – valeur ajoutee qui peuvent perturber au quotidien la bonne realisation des interventions. Disposer d’une maintenance efficace signifie « realiser les activites de maintenance avec le moins de perte de temps possible ».
