This article proposes a diagnosis method of inter-turn short circuit fault for PMSMs based on the duration of the space vectors via finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) strategy. The method is performed by evaluating whether the duration of different space vectors has changed or not, following that, the specific changing space vectors are used to locate the phase sequence where the fault happened. Furthermore, this study proposes that the observed space vector distribution characteristics can be qualitatively explained by closed-loop control for the suppression of inter-turn short circuit fault. The prominent advantage of the proposed method is that no additional sensors are necessary, the little burden is added to the microcontroller and it also works well for variable frequency control. The results of the simulation verify the effectiveness of the proposed diagnosis method to detect and locate inter-turn short circuit faults.","PeriodicalId":45126,"journal":{"name":"Asia-Pacific Journal-Japan Focus","volume":"55 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85018490","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, a Three-Phase-Module-Parallel (TPMP) SiC & Si hybrid inverter targeted for low voltage applications is proposed, which consists of Si and SiC three-phase power modules. With the proposed coordinated current compensating modulation scheme, the Si IGBT three-phase module enables its low-frequency switching and takes major parts of active power, while the SiC module operates at high frequency to just compensate for the current ripple of Si IGBT modules. This proposed inverter has a lower cost since the power rating of the SiC converter only has 1/3 of the rated power. On the other hand, a smaller filter design is realized since the equivalent switching frequency is high. The proposed topology and modulation scheme are verified by simulation.","PeriodicalId":45126,"journal":{"name":"Asia-Pacific Journal-Japan Focus","volume":"6 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91022691","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For the motor winding coefficient, it is firstly proposed to put auxiliary windings with different turns in the same direction in the motor armature teeth to improve the fundamental winding coefficient and weaken the 5th and 7th harmonic winding coefficients. On this basis, the cogging torque expression obtained by the energy method is used to analyze the auxiliary tooth tip angle by the Fourier decomposition method. The correctness of the theoretical derivation of the winding coefficient is verified by the air-gap flux density and no-load back EMF simulated by the finite element. Finally, the cogging torque of the motor and the equal-tooth motor structure are simulated and compared, and the results show that the effect of the motor to weaken the cogging torque is remarkable.","PeriodicalId":45126,"journal":{"name":"Asia-Pacific Journal-Japan Focus","volume":"26 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91125759","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is controlled by activating and deactivating the phases of the motor during the positive inductance slope of each phase. A simple way to do this is to excite each phase according to the edges of sensor outputs aligned to the phases. However this method is very crude and results in a fixed dwell angle. This fixed dwell angle results in unusual torque waveforms which may lead to a reduction in overall torque. This paper discusses the control of a 2-phase 4/2 SRM used for electric superchargers and introduces a simple novel control method based on sensor excitation and current threshold control. This includes a self-starting procedure and also a compensation mechanism adapted from the simple sensor-based excitation. Simulations and experiments were done to verify the proposed methods.","PeriodicalId":45126,"journal":{"name":"Asia-Pacific Journal-Japan Focus","volume":"56 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79829137","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Accurate losses of these components under practical excitation conditions are still difficult to determine. Therefore, it's crucial to directly measure the loss of these components for loss estimation and further optimization. In this paper, a loss measurement approach of magnetic power components is proposed. To emulate many power electronics relevant waveforms, the excitation source is constructed in a full-bridge topology with SiC MOSFET modules. To improve measuring accuracy, the selection of current probes is discussed then. Moreover, a time delay correction method ensuring precise compensation is implemented in this paper. Finally, to verify the measurement results, an additional dual-inductor experiment is proposed.","PeriodicalId":45126,"journal":{"name":"Asia-Pacific Journal-Japan Focus","volume":"72 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80242100","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order carry out scientific and reasonable energy-saving transformation of the motor system, the operation efficiency of the motor system must be estimated in real time and online. In view of the limitations of the previous motor efficiency detection, this paper proposes a non-intervention motor efficiency detection method. This method calculates the speed and torque of the motor on-line based on the improved rotor flux model reference adaptive method (MRAS) and stator flux method, and then obtains the output power of the motor. The simulation and experiment results show that the proposed method can effectively estimate the motor efficiency, and the estimated efficiency has a good follow-up to the actual efficiency of the motor under sudden load.","PeriodicalId":45126,"journal":{"name":"Asia-Pacific Journal-Japan Focus","volume":"1 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77296213","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, this paper proposes an improved SMO based on fuzzy logic controller (FLC) and dual second-order generalized integrator-frequency-locked loop (DSOGI-FLL) structure. The FLC is used to adjust the parameters of the SMO to improve the adaptive ability of the system and reduce the chattering phenomena. At the same time, in order to reduce the adverse effects from LPF, DSOGI-FLL is used to accurately extract the back electromotive force (back-EMF) and effectively eliminate the high-order harmonic components. The methods are verified by simulation in Matlab /Simulink and compared with the conventional SMO, the results show that the improved SMO has better performance.","PeriodicalId":45126,"journal":{"name":"Asia-Pacific Journal-Japan Focus","volume":"12 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78790817","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

So far, analytical approaches upon calculating airgap permeance have been adopted in most existing research work, while corresponding simulation-based tools have rarely been reported. In this paper, a new concept of airgap permeance calculation developed from numerical finite element tools is presented. Based on similarity of magnetic field and electric field, the airgap permeance distribution of electrical machines with various topologies can be predicted rapidly through finite element analysis (FEA) in electrostatic field. The FEA-based airgap permeance distribution can be regarded as an effective approach to validate corresponding results calculated from complex mathematical derivation. Furthermore, the characteristics of working airgap flux density harmonics introduced by magnetomotive force (MMF) of stator or rotor could be more intuitively investigated. Based on case studies of several typical machine topologies, the proposed FEA-based method will be proved of featuring wide feasibility, i.e., capable of covering stator slotting effect, rotor saliency as well as dual side saliency effect. Finally, the reasonability of the permeance calculation method is verified based on a further proposed homopolar topology within electromagnetic FEA.","PeriodicalId":45126,"journal":{"name":"Asia-Pacific Journal-Japan Focus","volume":"153 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74911626","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
