This article aims to describe CRT and how it can frame issues within cataloging and classification standards and practice. CRT tenets permanence of racism, whiteness as property, the critique of liberalism, intersectionality, counter-storytelling, and interest convergence are explored in the context of cataloging and classification work. Concepts of “authority” and “justice” are also examined. CRT can provide valuable evidence for critical cataloging efforts to make cataloging more diverse, equitable, and inclusive.","PeriodicalId":45054,"journal":{"name":"Cataloging & Classification Quarterly","volume":"60 1","pages":"646 - 674"},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2022-06-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46591129","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research is applied in terms of purpose; qualitative, in terms of approach; and content analysis, by method. Due to the weakness of the current lists of Persian traditional music resources in the field of retrieving musical resources, the IFLA Library Reference Model as a reference model in the field of resource organization is an optimal and efficient model, although it needs practical research to be used in a variety of resources, because this model has presented its structure in general. In this study, data elements of Persian traditional music resources were extracted from reliable reference resources highlighted by experts and the extracted list was confirmed by researchers and experts, through applying the contingency coefficient in the form of categorized lists; then, the checklist of the LRM final version (August 2017), the validity of which has already been assessed, compared to LRM. Finally, the data elements of Persian traditional music resources were classified in the form of 25 main categories. Mapping between these categories and LRM’s entities, attributes, and relationships indicates that LRM needs to be expanded in order to be effective in organizing.","PeriodicalId":45054,"journal":{"name":"Cataloging & Classification Quarterly","volume":"60 1","pages":"315 - 328"},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2022-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48539439","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A number of Indigenous terms that have no American or English language equivalent are described, as well as issues with spelling variations, nomenclature, and local terms in the different languages and dialects. With the cataloging and indexing policy of University of the Philippines System Libraries adopting the use of LCSH and assigning broader concepts to local terms when no translation and specific representations exist, low findability of materials is expected. The mapping of the faculty structures of ten universities to the two schemes showed strong alignment, with very few fields represented in the names of the organizational units not covered at all by either bibliographic scheme. This suggests a degree of universality and “scientific and educational consensus” with respect to both the schemes and academic disciplines.
