A better understanding of this phenomenon is required. This study presents a general modelling framework based either on the level-set approach or the concentration approach for modelling asphaltene deposition processes. Both the level-set method and the total concentration approach belong to the family of front capturing methods. Therefore, the dynamics of the depositing front can be captured implicitly on fixed mesh. The presented frameworks are validated against each other for general deposition process. Preliminary parametric studies are then performed to study the influences of various factors on the deposition process.","PeriodicalId":45052,"journal":{"name":"Computational Thermal Sciences","volume":"5 1","pages":"153-163"},"PeriodicalIF":1.5,"publicationDate":"2013-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67419731","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The calculation of equilibrium concentration of fullerenes С60, С70 and its dependence on temperature has been carried out. Investigation of processes adsorption-desorption of fullerenes on the crystal surface and possible special features of these processes has been discussed. The developed statistical theory of the process of fullerenes deposition on the metallic substrate permits to explain and justify the possibility of manifestation of these processes and reveal that passing of each process is defined to a large extent by the character and degree of interaction between fullerenes and atoms of metallic substrate.","PeriodicalId":45052,"journal":{"name":"Computational Thermal Sciences","volume":"5 1","pages":"189-194"},"PeriodicalIF":1.5,"publicationDate":"2013-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1615/COMPUTTHERMALSCIEN.2013006342","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67419867","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Heat tra nsfer behaviors with the fins have been analyzed by exami ning variations of the local and average Nusselt numbers in twodimensional flow. Four different fin arrays heights (H = 6, 12, 18, 24 mm) and four different angles of inclina tion ( θ = 45°, 60°,75°, 90°) are considered. In order to understand the heat transfer characteri stics of this problem, a total of 96 cases for each of conductive and nonconductive fins are considered. It is found that s ignificant heat transfer augmentation is obtained for conduct ive (20% higher augmentation factor when the fin aspect rati o is 6, and angle of inclination is 60° and pitch-to-length rat io is 0.2) and non-conductive fins (10% higher augmentation fa ctor, at fin aspect ratio of 8, angle of inclination at 45° and pitch-tolength ratio at 0.5). A general correlation has bee n d veloped to predict the average Nusselt number for fin array s s a function of different fin configurations.","PeriodicalId":45052,"journal":{"name":"Computational Thermal Sciences","volume":"5 1","pages":"119-126"},"PeriodicalIF":1.5,"publicationDate":"2013-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67419039","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present analysis is valid when the buoyancy force effects are small compared to forced convection effects. The mixed convection flow problem is formulated by two-dimensional incompressible flow with the buoyancy term represented by the Boussinesq approximation. The governing equations are solved in the stream function and vorticity formulation using high accuracy finite difference schemes. Results are reported for single and two heat source modules mounted on a horizontal plate with and without thickness. The effects of induced velocity, heat input, thickness, and location of heat source modules on heat transfer rate and thermal field in the vicinity of heat sources are reported. Results have shown that there is a decrease of maximum temperature on heat source modules with increase in free-stream velocity of the fluid. Results show that the change of location and thickness of heat source modules has a significant effect on thermal flow field characteristics. The maximum temperature and average Nusselt number on heat source modules are reported at different parameters. The reported results agreed well with experimental results available in the literature.","PeriodicalId":45052,"journal":{"name":"Computational Thermal Sciences","volume":"132 1","pages":"27-41"},"PeriodicalIF":1.5,"publicationDate":"2013-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67419125","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
