Public policies have been developed worldwide since the Bay-dole act in 1980, but emerging countries still face difficulties in promoting UIC compared to developed countries. This article aims to highlight and compare the main motivations and barriers for UIC in Brazilian and Irish TTOs. Based on a literature review, a questionnaire was applied to the heads of nine TTOs. This research is characterized as a multiple case study with a qualitative approach. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that the TTOs from Ireland and Brazil have different motivations for cooperation, but face similar barriers despite the completely different contexts they are in.","PeriodicalId":448861,"journal":{"name":"Journal of technology management & innovation","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125604983","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The country’s regulation is made up of a set of formal institutions, i. e. codified rules, which aim to determine social actors’ practices. Strategic alliances are long-term cooperative relationships voluntarily established between two or more autonomous companies with shared interests and goals to create competitive advantage. Clinical-trial strategic alliances are organized according to the contractual relationship and parties’ relational capabilities that aim to overcome difficulties in the partnership activities and ensure intercompany cooperation, reflecting on organizational efficiency and effectiveness, and impacting on alliance performance. This work developed a critical review of the literature and expanded it through the establishment of novel relational propositions regarding the relationship between formal regulatory institution of countries and strategic alliances for clinical trial of new medicines.","PeriodicalId":448861,"journal":{"name":"Journal of technology management & innovation","volume":"134 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133824525","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We employed a cross-cultural adaptation and assessment of the instrument’s psychometric properties from the original scale, including content validity, face validity, semantic validity, and statistical analysis with exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. The sample consisted of 318 participants. We present a six-item validated scale for application with undergraduate students in several scenarios of innovativeness of consumption, adapted and validated theoretically and empirically. The results showed satisfactory evidence of the scale’s validity and reliability. The validation with undergraduate students can be considered a limitation of the study, while the broad scope of application of scale can foster posterior research on consumer innovativeness. The results presented are the first validated version of Goldsmith and Hofacker for undergraduate students in Portuguese as far as we are concerned.","PeriodicalId":448861,"journal":{"name":"Journal of technology management & innovation","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115557454","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this study, the bibliographical data was extracted from Scopus. Among the main results that were found, three stand out. Firstly, this article describes a general panorama of research involving fintechs from the last 30 years in the subareas ‘Business, Management and Accounting’ and ‘Economics, Econometrics and Finance’. Secondly, we detected three generations of research related to this field of study. They are the discovery (1991-2006), the development (2007-2016), and the expansion (2017-2020). Also, we highlighted connections between the three generations, as well as the evolutionary process of the subjects that were addressed in these different generations. The third result was the identification of six themes that represent research trends for the future, which are: ‘banking & financial services’, ‘electronic services & ‘e-finance’, ‘consumer behaviour’, ‘mobile services’, ‘risk’ and ‘cryptocurrency’.","PeriodicalId":448861,"journal":{"name":"Journal of technology management & innovation","volume":"149 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126921784","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study presents evidence based on a sample of 355 low-medium-tech (LMT) firms participating in the National Survey of Innovation in the Manufacturing Industry and Knowledge-Intensive Service Firms in Peru. A structural equation model approach was applied. The results indicate a positive relationship between external sources of knowledge and exploration and exploitation, and technological innovation improves product innovation. These results provide more profound knowledge about how LMT firms in an emerging economy can apply open innovation practices to develop innovation ambidexterity, thus enhancing their product innovation capability.","PeriodicalId":448861,"journal":{"name":"Journal of technology management & innovation","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129290269","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective of this study is to organize and analyse the literature on innovation management in the IT industry. Through a systematic mapping study (SMS), 7259 studies were obtained of which 76 studies were selected and classified. This SMS made it possible to structure the knowledge developed in categories: research topics, types of research, contribution, research methods and bibliometric characteristics. The studies were mostly focused on the operations, organizational context, and support for innovation. In addition, a greater number of philosophical articles were found. Among the most used research methods were surveys, interviews, case studies, and literature reviews. Also, the frequency of published articles shows an increasing trend, especially in recent years. Finally, This SMS provides information on spaces that are still pending to be investigated or amplified.","PeriodicalId":448861,"journal":{"name":"Journal of technology management & innovation","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121161999","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Within the context mentioned above, our objective is to show a network analysis of Industry-University-Research Institute (IUR) interactions promoted by a government program, identifying its structure and dynamics and the influences played by these organisational actors. The results point out that the program presents effectiveness in establishing the IUR interaction network. Moreover, the network presents a scale-free structure, strong clustering and short distances between the actors. Universities lead as the most central actors, followed by research institutes. Despite the growth of the network with the significant entry of new SMEs, there is no evidence that this evolution contributes to improving its network metrics. The conclusions suggest that the network structure and dynamics may imply greater redundancy in the innovation process while allowing greater speed in the flow of knowledge and wider dissemination of knowledge among actors. The hubs (four central universities) in the network suggests an influence as generators and disseminators of knowledge and facilitators of interaction, but they can also limit the dynamics of the search for innovation in the network.","PeriodicalId":448861,"journal":{"name":"Journal of technology management & innovation","volume":"157 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116428239","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The potential use of crowdfunding among Chilean undergraduate students is empirically analyzed. An ordered probit model is used to test the determinants of the probability that a student will use a crowdfunding platform in the future. Also, a qualitative analysis containing arguments by which students would or would not use crowdfunding in the future is presented. The results indicate that trust in financial institutions and prior crowdfunding knowledge have a positive and significant effect on the probability of using these platforms. This paper constitutes one of the first to explore the growing crowdfunding market in Chile from the demand perspective.","PeriodicalId":448861,"journal":{"name":"Journal of technology management & innovation","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128653932","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research was exploratory based on the organizational theoretical perspective called TOE: Technology, Organization and Environment framework, non-parametric statistics were used, quantifying the intensity and direction of the interdependence between the variables. It can be concluded that the tourism companies that presented a systematic financial performance and an efficient use of technological resources, generated greater opportunities to grow in the market and the ability to face the competition by improving their strategic management, in contrast to those that do not adequately present their financial statements, as well as null or low use of Information Technologies due to lack of knowledge, which has prevented them from obtaining real value from the organization and a management focused on profitability and its permanence in the future.","PeriodicalId":448861,"journal":{"name":"Journal of technology management & innovation","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124351134","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
