The non-parametric Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method was used to measure efficiency. The research is supported by the fact that the literature evaluates the efficiency of mainly football clubs. Therefor, the research extends the efficiency analysis to include volleyball clubs on the example of Poland, where in recent times both clubs and the national team have been highly successful on the world stage. The results of the research indicate that the efficiency of PlusLiga clubs varies. More than half of the (inefficient) clubs have too high expenses (operating costs) in relation to the actual financial and sporting results. The study shows that the technology of efficient clubs is mainly based on generating significantly higher revenues than operating costs. This allows efficient clubs to convert expenses into results more efficiently than inefficient clubs. Inefficiencies have been observed mainly in clubs where local governments are the majority shareholder. They generate negative financial results and use budget funds from their owners to cover losses and maintain economic stability. They operate under soft budget constraints and are favoured by local governments to prevent their bankruptcy. By identifying differences in efficiency using established benchmarking coefficients, the optimal amount of expenditure for inefficient clubs was determined and what measures should be taken to improve their efficiency.","PeriodicalId":448836,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Eastern Europe Research in Business and Economics","volume":"42 20","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141648897","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

From this point of view, we can resort to statistical forecasting methods that, based on on past data and current external trends, can predict figures for the short and long term planning. The motive, the scope, behind this study is to develop a forecasting model using time series that can help the organisations and the managers in taking better decisions, on time, for the future of the company. The data that were used for this paper are focusing on forecasting the demands for the sales budgets only, starting with the historical data from a company in the glass mould manufacturing area. If we examine the current literature, we can find that there a few studies, with real business data regarding budgeting, therefore this study is relevant and important for the researchers and practitioners. This paper aims to illustrate how we can use the time series statistical method and the linear equation regression that can help the organisations to forecast and plan the business. The main findings after developing the model are that it allows smoothing the fluctuations of the series over time (especially if we find outliers) and eliminating the influence of seasonality, in order to obain in the end a good accuracy of the predictions. In order to measure the quality of the forecasting we can use many indicators, such as Mean Absolute Percentage Error.","PeriodicalId":448836,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Eastern Europe Research in Business and Economics","volume":"49 18","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140667292","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As banking represents the most important channel for capital allocation, globally, the topic impacts policies as well as economies. The paper presents the linkages and developments between the dependent variable credit interest rate and macroeconomic indicators used as dependent variables: unemployment, inflation, capital adequacy ratio and bank assets to GDP. The data were collected and analyzed for a relevant period, between 2013 and 2021, representing the post-financial global crisis and pandemic crisis. The sample includes 30 countries with a combined GDP of around 60% of the global GDP. According to the research results, a balanced relationship between competitiveness, profitability, and sustainability within the financial and banking sectors can be achieved through cooperation between all 30 analyzed countries. Other relevant concerns to develop viable economic policy options should focus primarily on keeping inflation rates at a stable level by the central banks, together with the efficient allocation of funds, diversification of sources of energy, and reducing dependencies.","PeriodicalId":448836,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Eastern Europe Research in Business and Economics","volume":" 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140219699","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For organizations it remains difficult to find guidance on how to reduce this pain. Readiness for Change (RfC) in business contexts is a topic that is been gaining importance during the last decade, thus the purpose of this paper is to provide a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) on this topic, by collecting and listing all antecedents of RfC. Starting with data collected from the Web of Science, a search protocol, validated by two independent researchers, is applied. This procedure returned 79 articles which are analyzed per year, journal, author, country, and area. The review articles are exported to NVivo for full content analysis and coding. This article presents a structured categorization of the published reviewed papers and an overview of all antecedents of RfC. It also includes empirical evidence on the state-of-the-art in RfC including a list of antecedents of change. One key antecedent of RfC recognized is knowledge transfer. This work has policy-setting implications for understanding the RfC process and its antecedents. It can also help organizations prepare, anticipate, and minimize the impact of negative organizational change.","PeriodicalId":448836,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Eastern Europe Research in Business and Economics","volume":"81 11","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140254621","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, there is still a need to monitor this phenomenon to achieve a correct balance in the budget because of the instability of different factors in the economic surroundings that affect the budget. This is especially important in developing countries undergoing economic transformation, and Poland is still in that process. The study aims to assess changes in the Polish state budget’s size and revenue and expenditure structure between 2000 and 2022. The method of comparative analysis over time is used with the actual value of the money concept, measures of dynamics, structure, GDP ratios, statistical description and coefficients of dissimilarity of structures. Analyses have shown a permanent imbalance in the Polish budget. However, the budget’s primary result oscillates around zero and both revenues and expenditures have gradually increased. The volatility of budget revenue and spending is moderate. Only the use of EU funds is characterised by high volatility. The emerging crises (e.g. Russia’s war against Ukraine and the coronavirus pandemic) have a negligible impact on the budget structure, but they influence its level of expenditure. The changes in Polish budget size are generally due to inflation, economic growth rates, and the inflow of funds from the European Union budget.","PeriodicalId":448836,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Eastern Europe Research in Business and Economics","volume":"28 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140260423","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This econometric study is taking into account evidence from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development countries within the European area, the main focus being the economic crisis and the pandemic crisis during the most recent years. The research methodology is based on the Panel Least Squares regression, VAR model and Granger causality test, which proved that the foreign direct investment has a positive impact on economic growth, but not so strong, and the causal relationship is unidirectional from foreign direct investment to economic growth. The results of the study are aligned with the literature review showing a positive influence of foreign direct investment on the economies of OECD countries and are useful in terms of investing decisions and macroeconomic policies.","PeriodicalId":448836,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Eastern Europe Research in Business and Economics","volume":"11 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140420112","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
