Researchers and professionals have been discussing the best methods for evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of psychotherapeutic treatments for many years. This paper aims to give an overview of the specifics of quantitative and qualitative research methods, by noting the advantages and disadvantages of these methods in the evaluation of psychotherapeutic treatments. Within the quantitative scientific research, three approaches are described: randomized controlled research, mood enhancement by psychoanalytic and cognitive therapies, and meta-analysis. The most common collection methods (observation, interview, other verbal techniques and visual approaches to data collection) and data analysis (comprehensive process analysis, consensual qualitative research and grounded theory) are described within a qualitative scientific methodology. Finally, an approach related to integration of qualitative and quantitative methodology, as well as this related with application of case studies in the evaluation of psychotherapeutic treatments are described. Scientists and professionals in the field of social sciences should use both quantitative and qualitative research methods, separately or in combination, depending on the goal and problems of the research.","PeriodicalId":44856,"journal":{"name":"Archives of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2022-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44541479","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This difficult period of transformation poses difficult challenges for health professionals who require a toolbox of supports, of which an important one is that provided by the Balint movement through its group activities. Leaders, who moderate meetings of health professionals must have an enhanced understanding of the psychosocial aspects of the turbulence within our civilization including those due to the health impact of COVID-19. The author anticipates that some theses may not be fully accepted, because of the relative novelty and complex nature of the material, but it is presented to stimulate critical discussion in the hope that it will facilitate the efforts of Balint group leaders.","PeriodicalId":44856,"journal":{"name":"Archives of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2022-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48559631","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sociodemographic Data Form, Cyberchondria Severity Scale (CSS), Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQ), and Health Anxiety Inventory-Short Version (HAI) were administered to all participants.The sub-dimensions of the CSS total, distress, excessiveness, reassurance, and mistrust of medical professional and the HAI body sub-dimension and total score of the patient group were found to be significantly higher than the scores of the control group (p<0.001). There is a significant positive correlation between HAI total score and FIQ score (p= 0.018) (r=.285). A positive and significant relationship was found between the CSS-total score and the HAI sub-dimensions and total score (p= 0.002, r=.377).Our study shows that health anxiety and cyberchondria are high in patients with FMS and that disease severity and health anxiety increase in direct proportion. Due to these results, it may be wise to periodically check the cyberchondria and health anxiety levels of these patients and to include psychiatric view in the treatment of the patients.Doctors can refer patients who have health concerns and who have comorbid psychiatric symptoms for psychoeducation, as well as protect patients from uncontrolled anxiety by referring them only to reliable and accurate online sites.","PeriodicalId":44856,"journal":{"name":"Archives of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2022-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47007963","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They completed Rothbart’s Adult Temperament Questionnaire (ATQ) and a socio-demographic survey. The study was conducted in the Center for Treatment, Therapy and Rehabilitation, run by the MONAR Association.Results: Our results indicate significant differences between the test group and the control group in the following temperamental traits (p <0.05): Endogenous Sadness, Visual Discomfort, Inhibitory Control, Attentional Shifting, Sociability and Intense Environmental Pleasure. Compared to controls, persons with substance use disorder scored higher on endogenous sadness and intense environmental pleasure. Greater endogenous sadness suggests they experience more negative emotions and lower mood as a result of disappointment or loss, which promotes development of addiction.Discussion: This study demonstrates differences in the severity of some temperamental traits between persons with substance use disorder and control group.It is suggesting that temperament can be a risk factor for addiction to psychoactive substances.","PeriodicalId":44856,"journal":{"name":"Archives of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2022-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48167421","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Evidence shows that suicide is higher among cancer patients than in the general population. Lithuania has been in a leading position in suicides worldwide. It is very important to care about cancer patients’ emotional status because advances in health care offer great promise for patients’ physical health.\u0000Material and methods: This review was conducted using data sources from the PubMed electronic bibliography published over the past ten years. Articles were selected using the keywords “the risk factors”, “suicides”, and “the patients with cancer”. After selection, seventy-two articles were suitable for the analysis. \u0000Results and discussion: The main suicide risk factor was depression; a less frequent factor was other mental pathology. Symptoms such as pain, weakness and decreased physical capacity play an important role in the risk of suicide. Suicide was also affected by the localization of the tumour; a short time elapsed since diagnosis was also important. As in the general population, social, economic, and demographic factors such as male gender, loneliness, age, and low income are important risk factors for suicide among cancer patients. \u0000Conclusion: To reduce the risk of suicide in cancer patients, it is appropriate to create a united, practice-friendly suicide risk assessment system and develop psychoeducational training and psychological assistance for medical staff and family members.","PeriodicalId":44856,"journal":{"name":"Archives of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2022-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42165622","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In such a situation, the choice of the right treatment method has become a clinical challenge.\u0000Considering the patients’ health status and life conditions (comorbidity of T1DM, autism and blindness, abusive, not engaged father, difficult financial situation) very good treatment results as far as T1DM is concerned were achieved: her HbA1c values available from last 3 years ranged from 6.5-7.3% Also, regardless of many obstacles and life crises, the patient maintains possibly the best in her conditions, psychological well-being.\u0000The paper can be a source of knowledge and inspiration, presenting challenges and possibilities in treatment of people with T1DM, autism, and other comorbidities. From the therapeutic point of view, it indicates that well planned, individualized therapy may be the basis for creating optimal conditions for the development and improvement of the quality of life of patients.","PeriodicalId":44856,"journal":{"name":"Archives of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2022-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43664020","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
