Global change is effectively sparked by the advancements in new media technologies. The method, precision, and speed of message generation and transport have all been greatly enhanced by these technologies, and they have also completely changed the definition of broadcasting. Still, in an information-overloaded world, figuring out where broadcasting fits in is getting harder and harder. The survey research approach was employed to gather pertinent data for the study in order to develop data for it. The results of the data analysis showed that the production of the station under investigation has been significantly impacted by new media technologies. Lack of technical expertise and the expense of purchasing necessary equipment continue to be major obstacles to their efficacy. According to the study’s conclusions, the government should lower the value-added tax on new media equipment as doing so will lower the equipment’s overall cost and ease the financial strain on the station. The use of new media technologies can expand the broadcasting industry’s reach and elevate Uganda’s broadcast sector to a global player. This is only possible if there are no barriers preventing the broadcast media sector from effectively acquiring new and improved infrastructure. Workshops, symposia, seminars, and training courses should all be used to try and educate current and future broadcasters. These strategies include health campaigns, public service announcements, and educational programming aimed at raising awareness about infectious diseases and promoting preventive behaviors. Understanding how audiences perceive and engage with health messages broadcasted by the media is crucial for evaluating the impact of disease prevention efforts. This study sought to evaluate the role of media in disease prevention in Uganda using NBS Television as a case study. A cross-sectional survey design was utilized to collect data from a sample of viewers who have been exposed to televised health messages. The total sample size was 85 respondents. Data was collected through structured questionnaires administered to the selected study participants. Quantitative data collected from the surveys were analyzed using statistical software such as MS Excel. Descriptive statistics, including frequencies, percentages, means, and standard deviations, were used to summarize demographic characteristics, audience exposure to health programming, and responses to survey items. The study found that respondents had varying knowledge about disease prevention measures, with gaps in understanding vaccination schedules, early warning signs, and nutrition’s role. However, they generally held positive attitudes towards disease prevention, believing in its importance for overall health and trusting health information from television programs. They expressed motivation to adopt preventive behaviors and confidence in their ability to maintain positive changes. The findings underscore the potential of televised health communication initiatives in shaping attitudes and behaviors related to disease prevention, emphasizing the role of television in promoting public health awareness. Despite existing legislation addressing child labor in Nigeria, the prevalence of street hawking persists due to inadequate implementation and enforcement. Moreover, traditional beliefs regarding children as contributors to the family's socioeconomic well-being further perpetuate this practice in African societies. Familyrelated factors also contribute to the involvement of children in street hawking. However, child hawkers face numerous hazards, including physical violence, loss of merchandise, accidents, robbery, kidnapping, and even murder for ritualistic purposes. They are also vulnerable to extreme weather conditions, insect and reptile bites, hunger, and deprivation. Of great concern is the risk of sexual exploitation and forced prostitution, leading to unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections. This paper examines the impact of street hawking on children's academic well-being and emphasizes the fundamental right of all children to receive basic education and quality learning opportunities. It underscores the need for legislation prohibiting street hawking by children, with legal repercussions for both parents and children involved in the practice. Prioritizing education and safeguarding children from the dangers of street hawking is essential for their holistic development and future societal contributions. Cybercrime is a comprehensive threat that includes different types of activities, including hacking and phishing, right up to damaging intellectual property. The ripple effect goes far beyond immediate financials losses and is caused by service failures and reputational damage. The rising trends of cybercrime in Africa necessitate the urgency to fight it because, of its prevalence, with the annual losses running into billions. The article looks at the growth of cybercrime in Africa, especially the fact that cybercriminals are revolving into cybercriminal activities. As we’ve witnessed an internet population of over a billion people in the continent, the vulnerabilities become more widespread as there are insufficient cyber security laws and regulations in place. Mobile phone propagation aggravates weak security infrastructure that today are scaring Africa with a total cost of up to $4 billion yearly. Businesses and governments may fail to engage in cyber security which will increase their vulnerability since the commitment to the cyber security measures will be delayed, and timely and tactical response is needed. Legislation is a critical element in tackling cyber-attacks and this is a challenge many African countries face when it comes to enacting all-encompassing laws. The rules of Budapest Convention are used to create a guiding framework, which is aimed at supporting the harmonization with the international standards for the efficient cooperation. A coordinated effort culturally, as well as internationally, becomes evident to protect Africa’s digital future by lessening the economic and social implications of cyber threats. This article uncovers the convoluted terrain of fake news that draws on its different manifestations, classifications, and motivations that are socio-political, cultural, and socio-economic in nature. In this regard, focusing on Nigeria, a country with high prevalence of fake news, this identifies the main factors that trigger its spread, which are media relevance, government manipulation, profit motives, and internet regulation. Considering that the multidimensional approach is applied, the paper suggests measures for the management and mitigation of the fake news, embracing technological, regulatory, and educational steps. Highlighting the necessity of media literacy, interaction with international organizations, and backing for traditional media, the paper stands for a collaborative operation aimed at promoting resilience to the covert spread of the fake news and creating a system of information that puts truth, transparency, and journalistic responsibility above any other considerations. In Nigeria however, chapter II of the 1999 Constitution has remained non-justiciable, irrespective of the adoption and ratification of the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights, which contains replica of these socio-economic rights. In countries like South Africa, India and some Latin American countries, the socio-economic rights have been given full force of enforcement either by composite construction of constitutionally guaranteed rights to encapsulate socio-economic rights or by expansive interpretation of the Constitution by the courts. Enforcement of socio-economic rights has nonetheless remained a mirage in Nigeria. Successive governments have hidden under the non justiceability of chapter II of the constitution to evade accountability and responsibility especially in provision of life changing infrastructure. This has impelled communities to engineer their own social development via self-help. Enforcement of compliance towards these self-help measures usually clash with the perceived rights of individuals. This paper therefore raises concern on the construction of the rights provisions to stifle communitarian philosophy enhancing social development via communal self-help projects by revisiting the case of Agbai v. Okagbue. It is posited that with recent dwindling government responses especially in rural infrastructural development, the court has to re-engineer communal development by superimposing communal interest over personal interest especially where such communal interest will also further full realization of personal rights. Anchored on investment theory of creativity, the paper employed ethnographic research design, the paper found that, community newspapers find it difficult to command visual appeal among its audience due to the inability of most publishing house to work as a team. Also, the lack of experience among journalists/editors, as well as the absence of sophisticated tools equally affects the ability of community newspapers to bring out of its best in respect to physical appeal. The study further found that getting the layout and design right is difficult because of lack of creativity and poor visual sensitivity.
