During this time, theoretical concepts are traditionally taught with field practice using specialized tools such as a theodolite, laser level, and total station. Due to the environmental restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic, traditional field practice (TFP) was suspended, preventing access to equipment and study areas. The use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), such as Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Reality (VR), have been explored in the last decade for educational purposes. This paper studies the benefits of using these tools for developing G& T skills. This research aimed to assess students’ learning outcomes using a traditional G& T teaching method and a new methodology based on Virtual Field Practice (VFP) for CAU students. The methodology provides a virtual study area for the CAU student by integrating point clouds derived from photogrammetry and terrestrial laser scanning. It also assesses their learning results and compares them against a control group using a validated instrument. Findings suggest continuing with fieldwork for a greater understanding and correct application of G& T concepts by students, and using virtual models as an efficient way to complement the acquisition of spatial information in the teaching-learning process. Until the publication of this article, we found no evidence in the literature at the undergraduate level of applying exercises like those proposed.","PeriodicalId":445092,"journal":{"name":"2023 Future of Educational Innovation-Workshop Series Data in Action","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126895852","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim was to analyze higher education students’ patterns of eating. The study took place in a private university in northern Mexico. Two phases were defined for this study. The first was to analyze a daily record of food consumption by 1,068 students. The second corresponded to a virtual reality supermarket where 3,189 students’ activities were registered from 2020 to 2022. Their food purchase decisions were studied based on each product’s nutritional information. Statistically significant differences were found in their eating habits in the variables of age, gender, and physical activity. The intake of sodium, sugar, saturated fats, and other fats consumption was also analyzed. This information is considered helpful for designing auxiliary educational material to promote well-being and food habit strategies for undergraduate students.","PeriodicalId":445092,"journal":{"name":"2023 Future of Educational Innovation-Workshop Series Data in Action","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115776233","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The lockdown and the effects of the pandemic impacted students’ mental health, exhibiting frustration, stress, and depression. The latter is not ideal for a healthy learning environment, as it involves many coping mechanisms. This study analyzed a database compiling the habits of 1182 individuals in different age groups at various educational institutes in the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR), India. It identifies factors leading to proposing recommendations to improve students’ online education experiences worldwide and facilitate their learning while caring for their mental health. A CRISP-DM methodology was followed to build a model capable of predicting students’ satisfaction ratings for online classes by analyzing the students’ demographic information and daily habits.","PeriodicalId":445092,"journal":{"name":"2023 Future of Educational Innovation-Workshop Series Data in Action","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133775239","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This advance in data science would not be possible without a rebirth of Statistics. Until a few years ago Statistics was considered a support course for engineering courses, Nowadays Statistics has taken a relevant role as a fundamental science for generating Data Science. Machine Learning would not be possible without analysing data patterns and approximating them to probability distributions to generate self-learning algorithms. A new vision of linear regression allows analysing the relationship between different variables under analysis that can predict the response variable. At the Tecnologico de Monterrey, subjects such as Design of experiments, Probability, and Statistics have been focused on supporting the analysis of data science, redesigning the way of learning in the classroom, and seeking a new mentality in students to develop their data analysis skills. Students can analyse complex situations through problem-solving and Statistics.","PeriodicalId":445092,"journal":{"name":"2023 Future of Educational Innovation-Workshop Series Data in Action","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126268330","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this purpose, this study introduced a ‘‘semantic-based process mining’’ technique capable of discovering abstract or useful information or models from event logs of a learning process (educational domain), and then subsequently used to predict users’ patterns through the semantically-inclined modeling and exploration of the discovered process models. Technically, the study focused on improving the results/outcomes of the learning process and mining using the set of proposed algorithms and model that incorporates semantic annotation (labeling), semantic representations (ontology), and semantic reasoning (inference modules or reasoner) of the discovered models. In turn, the outcome of the method shows that data processing and models analyses provided by traditional process mining techniques in education can be enhanced by adding ‘‘semantic information’’ (properties description) to the discovered models or events $log$ about the processes and domain.","PeriodicalId":445092,"journal":{"name":"2023 Future of Educational Innovation-Workshop Series Data in Action","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121110064","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a rapidly developing field of study that promises to revolutionize every facet of human interaction. New methods of instruction and methods of assessing student progress will be developed and tested with the help of AI. With the use of modern educational technology, educational goals can be more effectively realized and managed. This research investigates the influence of Adaptive Learning (AL) on both students and educators via the lens of AGS implementation. Students who have received training in the use of technology are more likely to be self-directed and motivated to evaluate their own development as learners because of the usage of Automated Grading Learning Systems (AGLS). Teachers’ workloads are reduced by AGLS because it allows them to deliver timely and relevant feedback to students and because it opens more avenues for constructive student-teacher interaction.","PeriodicalId":445092,"journal":{"name":"2023 Future of Educational Innovation-Workshop Series Data in Action","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123766734","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the main factors in achieving implementation success is effective communication. The problem is that these continuous improvement solutions often only provide the companies with the procedures, guidelines, success factors, technical skills, and performance measures pertinent to each company. However, effective communication is a critical success factor that, most of the time, is not considered in implementing those solutions. For this reason, an effective communication model is needed to support implementing continuous improvement solutions and new approaches within Industry 4.0. This paper aims to present an effective communication model for implementing continuous improvement solutions in Industry 4.0 manufacturing and services companies. The model was implemented in several organizations with measurements of its impact. The final idea is to export this model to other types of organizations with other approaches to increase the implementation of continuous improvement solutions. The theoretical framework is based on coaching concepts and tools, including effective communication factors.","PeriodicalId":445092,"journal":{"name":"2023 Future of Educational Innovation-Workshop Series Data in Action","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133686076","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study utilizes the ‘‘Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses’’ (PRISMA) framework to answer the following two research questions: (1) What are the state-of-the-art practices in business schools in terms of sustainability? (2) What digital tools are most commonly used to support sustainability-related learning concepts? Data was curated from the Web of Science Core Collection databases from the last five years. The initial search keywords included ‘‘Sustainability’’ + ‘‘Business Education’’ +$primeprime Technolog mathrm{y}$” and yielded 1,477 scholarly works. However, after the PRISMA technique was employed, 286 scholarly sources were identified as eligible for the scope of the study. The findings highlight three main critical points: (1) gamitication techniques can enhance student learning outcomes in sustainability and, in particular, critical thinking; (2) e-platforms and other digital tools can support students’ sustainabilityrelated skills development while emphasizing the importance of sustainability; and (3) e-platforms and virtual pedagogical tools can generate a collaborative and integrated learning environment leading to community-centric mindset. Furthermore, the literature indicated that sustainability-related courses raised awareness of various socio-economic factions and changes in industrial structures toward environmentally friendly organizations and led to betterjob prospects.","PeriodicalId":445092,"journal":{"name":"2023 Future of Educational Innovation-Workshop Series Data in Action","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114639456","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
