Materials and methods : methodological study. We evaluated 125 family caregivers of people with chronic diseases using the scale ZBI. The psychometric characteristics of the instrument were analyzed using a Rasch model. Results : all items showed positive polarity. The fit statistics showed that 6 items did not fit the model. The set of 22 items showed dimensionality. After removing the 9 problematic items, the 13 remaining items presented proper fit and dimensionality. Conclusions : Rasch analysis of the ZBI scale applied to family caregivers in Colombia showed that the 22-item scale is multidimensional. In a considerable proportion, the misfit of the items on the scale may arise due to lack of precision and exclusivity construct questions for construct of burden. Further research is needed to allow refinement of this instrument and establish their behavior with groups of caregivers from different backgrounds and nationalities.","PeriodicalId":44458,"journal":{"name":"Archivos de Medicina","volume":"17 1","pages":"17-26"},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2017-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43976759","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Results: Average age of participants: 20.3 years (SD +/- 2.36); No significant differences (p>0,05) by gender, with respect to knowledge, attitudes and practices were found but some differences were obtained per semester (p<0.05), related to treatment, prevention and posture face care patients. It occurs mainly at early ages, however it has been described at any age; this disease generates high impact in the familiar, social and work environment of the person. Antidepressant therapy includes drug therapy and psychotherapy, both being essential for the remission of this pathology. Therefore, therapeutic adherence, defined as the compliance with doses and times indicated of the prescribed medication and the acceptance of changes in lifestyle, is considered a clinical challenge that despite of being low studied, significantly improves control of depressive symptoms and avoids consequences such as disability.","PeriodicalId":44458,"journal":{"name":"Archivos de Medicina","volume":"17 1","pages":"150-159"},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2017-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46659700","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition, no statistically significant differences were found between the sexes in any of the dimensions and it was evidenced that there is a statistically significant correlation between occupational wear, socio-labor variables and psychosomatic manifestations. This is a clinical study made with patients diagnosticated with calcaneus osteomielitis. Materials and methods : this is a retrospective study of patients with calcaneus ostomyelitis during a 5-year follow up. The variables analyzed were age, gender, affected side, previous trauma or disease, time to diagnosis and treatment period. Results : nine patients were recluted. Six of them with secretion cultures; which 4 were positive with S. aureus. (three with methicillin-resistant S. aureus and one case methicillin - sensitive) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa in two cases. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was neccesary in 6 patients, with findings sugestive of osteomyelitis in all of them. Conclusion: a high-suspect index is essential to diagnosis, besides imaging studies and laboratory exams. Inicial VSG and PCR were positive in all patients and had a tendency to lowering during treatment. CRP correlated with clinical improvement and was an important marker to iniciate orally antymicrobial treatment. MRI and bone scan were an accurate resource in diagnosis. Staphylococcus aureus is the most common microorganism in this and other studies. P. aeruginosa was associated with accidental heel puncture.Early antimicrobial therapy is the main choice. The objective of the present study is to confirm the reproducibility and clinical applicability of this methodology to evaluate the tracing of normal and abnormal fetal monitoring in a physical-mathematical context. Materials and methods: there were taken 40 traces of fetal monitoring, divided into two groups, 15 of which were normal and 25 showed loss of fetal well-being. The frequency of occurrence of cardiac frequencies, presented in discrete time intervals, was calculated from the probability and S / k ratios of the entropy. Subsequently, the mathematical diagnosis was applied to make distinctions between normal fetal cardiac dynamics and pathological ones. Results: the values of the S/k ratios of the fetal monitoring evaluated, differentiated normal from abnormal fetal cardiac monitoring. Conclusions: with the established mathematical diagnosis, the reproducibility and clinical applicability of the methodology developed for the evaluation of the tracing of fetal monitoring were confirmed.","PeriodicalId":44458,"journal":{"name":"Archivos de Medicina","volume":"17 1","pages":"27-37"},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2017-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47924499","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Complications of this disease could be several and in a few cases, could be rare and infrequent. This article present a case of patient with an abdominal wall abscess due to a malignant transverse colonic tumor. Clinic presentation: Male 56 years-old patient with sepsis and a mass in left superior quadrant on abdomen. The patient was underwent to exploratory laparotomy and findings were a large tumor in transverse colon with penetrance to abdominal wall, invasion to proximal jejunum, and greater omentum. Resection of tumor, transverse colon and greater omentum was done, leaving macroscopic margins on jejunum. Discussion and conclusions: It does not exist a consensus about this complication, but case reports in literature could orientate about diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. An instrument was used to obtain socio-demographic data and the Index of female sexual function (IFSF). Results : the mean age in this group of women is 48,6±4,5 years (range: 42-63 years); The mean age of the menopause was 49,7±3,4 years. The average female sexual function index was 24,3; (Range: 7,0-34,2±4,8 points). 46,96% of the women had sexual dysfunction. The female sexual function index was less than 26,55 in women over 55 years of age and in those who had coital sexual activity less than once a week (p=0,0207). Desire disorder was the domain with the highest percentage for sexual dysfunction (75,0%). Orgasm was altered (59,09%) in women with exclusive coital sexual activity, and was statistically significant in relation to other types of sexual practice (p=0,00558). Pain (p=0,0174) and dissatisfaction (p=0,0002) were higher in women who did not wish to have coital sexual activity compared to those who wished.
