When exploring factors contributing to teachers' motivation, it becomes crucial to emphasize the role of teachers' social identity. Teachers with elevated social identity and group belonging levels often integrate didactic and innovative methods in their teaching practices, driven by their confidence in their abilities. These methods not only foster students' independence and autonomy but also enhance the learning environment. As part of the study, 405 teachers from both private and public schools in five diverse cities across Georgia took part in the quantitative survey. The convenience sampling method was employed throughout the research process; therefore, the results cannot be generalized to the population of teachers in Georgia. The study reveals that teachers perceive themselves and their colleagues similarly, indicating a strong collective identity within the teaching community, regardless of individual differences. Demographic factors such as teacher status, income, city, and education do not significantly affect this sense of belonging. Identified regulation emerges as the primary form of motivation among teachers, reflecting their perception of the importance of their profession. Moreover, there is a positive correlation between social identity and teacher motivation, suggesting that a stronger sense of belonging corresponds to higher motivation levels.","PeriodicalId":444383,"journal":{"name":"PROFESSIONAL STUDIES: THEORY AND PRACTICE","volume":"60 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140677367","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Considering the significance of teaching, without which other professions cannot develop efficiently, it is important to assess how acute the problem is and to try to offer some solutions to it. Another goal of the study was to try to develop recommendations on how to raise teaching jobs’ reputation and thus contribute to the improvement of the situation. The goal of the given study, which is a part of three surveys, was to find out students’ views on the prestige of teaching jobs. The main question was ‘Is teaching prestigious?’ An online survey applying a self-made questionnaire was held in Georgia, Azerbaijan, Iraq, and USA with 657 respondents (122 + 362 + 102 +71, consequently). The conclusion was made that the respondents’ attitude towards teachers in these countries is reasonably positive, however, not many of them are planning to become teachers. It was recommended that to increase the prestige of teaching jobs it is necessary, first of all, to raise the quality of teaching, as well as to stimulate book and movie authors and mass media to present the profession to the public more often and positively","PeriodicalId":444383,"journal":{"name":"PROFESSIONAL STUDIES: THEORY AND PRACTICE","volume":"26 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140704821","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The theoretical analysis of the scientific literature and empirical study revealed that reading habit can be quantified in terms of the materials read, frequency of reading, and amount of time spent reading, or in other words, by established reading preferences. For the demonstration, a system model consists of a cluster of three servers connected to the management servers with load-balancing solutions that share a public IP address. The application servers use the same database available in a multi-master configuration and the management servers are connected via the BGP protocol. User requests reach the server cluster through redundant traffic balancing subsystems. After testing the designed system, it was found that HAProxy is the best among all selected load-balancing solutions and ensures high cluster availability. While setting up the HAProxy it is recommended to choose the dynamic Least-Connections load balancing algorithm. Therefore, it was important to investigate the effects which motivate adults to learn foreign languages and how age makes a difference in learning. A research survey was designed on the basis of theoretical analysis and the study was conducted in Kaunas and Panevezys cities in order to find out the reasons why participants learn foreign languages (i.e. their extrinsic or intrinsic, integrative or instrumental motivation). The results of the empirical study revealed that adult foreign language learners in Lithuania mostly learn the English language and they know Russian and German; the current language they are learning in many cases is their second or third one. The participants revealed that adult learners are mostly motivated intrinsically (because of their wish to improve, learn, travel and etc.), less adults were motivated extrinsically (because of the work purposes – instrumental motivation) and because of communication reason (integrative motivation). The survey showed that participants believe that to learn a foreign language it is important to be motivated, want to improve in their life and, of course, to have a purpose. The pandemic, which lasted for several years, limited the opportunities of Lithuanians to travel abroad, but encouraged the search for new forms of leisure in Lithuania. A wider offer of local excursions appeared, more and more Lithuanians became interested in Nordic walking and other forms of active leisure.
