A magnetic pulsed launcher (MPL) system is a method for launching a projectile in a smooth linear motion. It applies the basic theories of electromagnetism and circuit theory. This MPL system is basically divided into two categories, one using a coil launcher and the other an induction launcher. In this paper, a small scale MPL system is developed based on the coil launcher technology. A small capacitor (330 muF, 400 V) and a single coil (16 mH) are used in the design whereas the reviewed paper uses a big capacitor and multiple coils. Experiments and simulations have been done to compare and study the relationship between voltage, capacitance, and projectile initial position for optimization of the system. An algorithm is designed based on the experimental data and it is used to optimize the MPL efficiency by changing the value of voltage, capacitance, and projectile position. The MPL have a highest efficiency of 10.05% at 1 cm projectile position when it is supplied with 286 muF, 680.2 V capacitor banks for horizontal motion while 2.55% for vertical motion. Radio over fiber (RoF) technology is proposed as a solution for reducing cost and providing highly reliable communication services. The RoF system is very cost-effective because the localization of signal processing in central station and also use a simple base station. In this paper, two methods of RoF system are investigated for transmitting the radio signal over the optical links with intensity modulation. There are RF signal or IF signal transmission over optical fiber. This paper focus on the RoF optical front-end receiver configuration especially optical heterodyne employing an optoelectronic mixer. To control weed, different weed type would require different herbicide formulation. Consequently the weed must be identified and classified accordingly. In this work, weed images were classified as either broad or narrow weed type. A fundamental problem in weed image recognition using planar curve analysis is to detect curve. It is difficult to successfully extract curve from the image of weed edges since the appropriate scale to use for extraction is not known a priori. As such, this paper considers a curve detection method based on the quadratic polynomial technique which include the use of the region-of- interests (ROI) technique. The ROI technique creates image subsets by selecting regions of the displayed image. The ROIs are typically used to extract statistics for image operations such as classification. The infra-red LEDs which emits IR lights is captured by the CCD and is used as the reference. In this system the absolute positioning and orientation were made with the help of a PosEye. The PosEye is normally fixed on a robot arm or the object which requires orientation of its own position in correspondence to its reference points in the working area. This paper discusses general ideas about reference markers, set-up procedures, and issues behind the sensor. This mainly includes the principles of PosEye sensor, basics of vision and cameras. The paper details the experiments in which results were obtained through the PosEye system with the help of electronics and PosEye camera. In the experimental setup, the connection of PosEye with the electronic application is presented, the usage of PosEye and the robot control system communication with the PosEye system using coordinate system. The working of the PosEye system is observed by taking images on the reference plate and finding the co-ordinates (x, y, z). Previously, plastic recycling are based on the material used. In this work, we propose a new approach to classify plastic bottle by implementing the viability of imaging technology for automated sorting. According to the original image of plastic bottle, there are obvious features that can discriminate between 2 classes of plastic bottles which are PET and Non-PET. The methodology involves an automatic detection of 'ROIs' from region segmented technique and proposed the histogram of pixel intensity algorithm in order to differentiate between 2 class of bottle; i.e PET and non-PET according to the property of transparency and opacity. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate how an ant colony optimization (ACO) can be used in evacuation planning. Modified ACO applied as the algorithm to determine the feasible route during emergency evacuation. Physical obstacle during building evacuation such as bottleneck or disaster problem has been considered in transitional probability rule of ACO. By creating exit sign (an agent) with ACO as the algorithm, this agent decides the feasible route and guides the occupant during the evacuation. Two scenarios present to observe the performance of two different approaches in making decision during evacuation. Photoplethysmogram (PPG) waveform has been used to evaluate vascular characteristic changes due to exercise. Quantification of the primary and secondary peak position is of interest as a potential objective, individualized measure of the level of exercise that a subject has achieved with respect to a baseline status, prior to the beginning of the exercise session. The modified bicycle ergonomic protocol was selected for this experiment. Two different signal processing methods were employed in processing the PPG waveform to characterize its changes through a single parameter. Both, the visual inspection of the recorded PPG and the results of the analyses reinforce our opinion about the existence of continuous changes in PPG waveform through an exercise session. The growth of cellular users' increase every year world wide. GSM as the second generation still exist as the famous technology and soon the third generation comes as a competitor. This technology has delivered an opportunity to communicate to anyone, anywhere and anytime wherever the service is available. In terms of services, many network operators have expanded the service coverage to cope with the increased of user density in a certain service area and improved services to enhance quality of service. In this paper, three control mobility schemes of user movement using a certain threshold level are proposed to investigate user mobility behavior. Each of these schemes incorporates equal cell size and examines in similar mobile environment based random mobility model. Every user can move in any direction with equal probability. Based on hexagonal cell model, 49 cells have been developed as a service area for simulation environment. Two mobility characteristics: user distribution and direction are considered as parameters to analyze user behavior in the certain service area. Simulation results using three mobility control schemes: scheme A, scheme B and scheme C; have shown that in time domain analysis. Result shows that the direction of each MS for any implemented scheme is unique. Transient stability of a power system is first determined based on the generator relative rotor angles obtained from time domain simulation outputs. Simulations were carried out on the IEEE 9- bus test system considering three phase faults on the system. The data collected from the time domain simulations are then used as inputs to the LS-SVM in which LS-SVM is used as a classifier to determine the stability state of a power system. Principle component analysis is applied to extract useful input features to the LS-SVM so that training time of the LS-SVM can be reduced. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed LS-SVM method, its performance is compared with the multi layer perceptron neural network.
