It is very essential and critical to image processing and pattern recognition, and determines the quality of final result of analysis and recognition. This paper presents a semi-supervised strategy to deal with the issue of image segmentation. Each image is first segmented coarsely, and represented as a graph model. Then, a semi-supervised algorithm is utilized to estimate the relevance between labeled nodes and unlabeled nodes to construct a relevance matrix. Finally, a normalized cut criterion is utilized to segment images into meaningful units. The experimental results conducted on Berkeley image databases and MSRC image databases demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed strategy.","PeriodicalId":442320,"journal":{"name":"2013 6th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing (CISP)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121830979","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The phase space of the stock sequence is reconstructed and the correlation dimension is analyzed, which indicate that the dynamical system has finite degree of freedom. The nonlinear evolution mechanism is observed and the initial value sensitive characteristic of the system is demonstrated through Lyapunov exponent analysis. Finally, the stock sequence is reconstructed by using finite degree of freedom based fractal interpolation algorithm and gaining reasonably accurate replications. The experimental results indicate that the nonlinear dynamical model is more effective to describe the China stock market than the conventional “random walk” theory based stochastic models.","PeriodicalId":442320,"journal":{"name":"2013 6th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing (CISP)","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115928887","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper focuses on hand pose estimation and motion tracking through a model-based stereo vision-based system. To allow for a complete 3D motion, initially a simple hand model with 20 landmark points was constructed and used to track its motion through a sequence of stereo images. Furthermore, a skeletal model representing the kinematical features of the hand was utilized to provide a meaningful hand motion and gesticulation. To evaluate and eventually recognize the performed hand motion, Kalman filter and Kalman smoother algorithms were implemented to evaluate the efficacy and assist in tracking of the proposed hand motion. These algorithms provided an estimate of the desired hand poses by minimizing the respective differences between the skeletal model and the 3D reconstructed model. As our proposed method required only 20 points, estimation results illustrate that the proposed approach is a cost effective and real time hand motion tracking approach, suitable for rehabilitation purposes.","PeriodicalId":442320,"journal":{"name":"2013 6th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing (CISP)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115975134","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The so-called KSAM algorithm is achieved by introducing the kernel method into the standard Spectral Angle Mapper (SAM) algorithm. Experimental results indicate that the classification accuracy of the KSAM algorithm is superior to one of the SAM algorithm in the remote sensing image classification. However the kernel parameters of the polynomial and sigmoid kernel functions of the algorithm are excessively sensitive. A narrow bound of the kernel parameters in the polynomial and sigmoid kernel functions can be chosen for the optimal classification of the remote sensing image. The classification performance of the Radial Basis Function (RBF) kernel function is superior to one of the polynomial and sigmoid kernel functions. A wide bound of the kernel parameter in the RBF kernel function can be chosen for the optimal classification of the remote sensing image in the KSAM algorithm.","PeriodicalId":442320,"journal":{"name":"2013 6th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing (CISP)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116015421","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Various algorithms are developed for coefficients update of the equalizer when tracking the channel. However, advantages and drawbacks coexist for single updating algorithm. In this paper, instead of single algorithm applied in the whole frame, two algorithms, recursive least square (RLS) and least mean square (LMS), are intelligently combined in our algorithm. For each iteration, one of two algorithms is chosen by comparing the windowed estimated error autocorrelation with a pre-selected threshold. Since the combined algorithm reaches to convergence using RLS algorithm, the convergence rate is fast and the length of training sequence can be decreased as a result of the effective rate increase. Extended simulations show that our proposed combination algorithm has better mean square error (MSE) and bit error rate (BER) performance compared with single LMS algorithm and lower complexity compared with RLS algorithm. Moreover, the proposed algorithm can track time-varying channel with small performance degradation and dramatic complexity reduction.","PeriodicalId":442320,"journal":{"name":"2013 6th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing (CISP)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122467055","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper proposes an improved method based on LDA, which is named as KDA method in this paper because it gives different weights to different training samples according to K nearest neighbor idea in within-class scatter matrix calculation, and chooses K nearest classes among all to calculate the total center in between-class scatter matrix calculation. Considering the interference of outliers when sample size is small with high dimensional data, a new median discriminant algorithm (MDA) method is also proposed, which uses an improved median (not real median) to substitue the mean in center determination. Finally MDA and KDA are combined to form a MKDA method. The comparison among LDA, KDA, the new MDA and MKDA methods with ORL face database is given. Experimental results suggest MKDA performs best among the four and both KDA and MDA outperform LDA.","PeriodicalId":442320,"journal":{"name":"2013 6th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing (CISP)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126697588","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

EM). In the process, the choice of speaker model initial value has great influence on the final recognition effect. The most common algorithms which are used to choose the initial value are K-means algorithm and LBG algorithm at present, but the two algorithms belong to a sort of local clustering arithmetic, therefore, it is difficult for them to provide the optimal initial value. For this reason, the ant colony algorithm combined with genetic arithmetic is proposed in the paper. The comparative experiment between this algorithm and K-means algorithm has been done, and the experimental results have been obtained to verify that this algorithm can bring better recognition rate than K-means algorithm.","PeriodicalId":442320,"journal":{"name":"2013 6th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing (CISP)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127203330","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This system architecture is proposed by using the spherical lens array and confocal plane with the character of wide field and compressive sampling. And the method of moving target detection with superposition imaging is studied emphatically. This method models each pixel as a Gaussian mixture model, while the Gaussian distributions are evaluated to determine which are most likely to result from a background process. Accordingly the background and foreground are separated. Also, the method of moving target decoding and tracking is researched, which means that target location is decoded based on a set resulting from classifying target copies according to position and velocity criteria in the superposition space. Finally, the target detection and decoding algorithm are simulated and the results show that this method can perform target detection and tracking over a wide field of view.","PeriodicalId":442320,"journal":{"name":"2013 6th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing (CISP)","volume":"26 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126060966","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, there is no approved and benchmark finger vein database for researchers to evaluate their algorithms. Furthermore, few public finger vein databases are available online. Aiming to support a benchmark database, in this paper, we introduce a representative finger vein database captured by a portable device, which is named MMCBNU_6000. Our research is novel in four aspects. First, MMCBNU_6000 is established with participation of 100 volunteers, coming from 20 countries. It contains images acquired from different persons with different skin colors. Second, statistical information of the nationality, age, gender, and blood type is recorded for further analysis on finger vein images. Third, similar to the real application, influences from translation, rotation, scale, uneven illumination, scattering, collection posture, finger tissue and finger pressure are taken into account in the imaging process. Fourth, according to the evaluation of average image gray value, image contrast and entropy on the images from the available databases, the acquired images in MMCBNU_6000 have comparable image quality.","PeriodicalId":442320,"journal":{"name":"2013 6th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing (CISP)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128756815","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
