The research problem emerged from the positive and negative experiences of two of the authors, during their timeas students under supervision at the university. In 2018, these authors had the opportunity, as advisors, to apply techniques to carry out positive supervision. The objective of this report was to present positive experiences of academic supervision for the production of a thesis for the undergraduate course of Tourism of a public university in the state of Paraná, Brazil. This study was carried out in 2018, and involved the supervision of two students, with thirteen steps, as described in this report. The results of the supervision were two undergraduate theses that were approved and received praise, and two students who were satisfied with the process. As practical implications, we observed that when the advisor and student are bothclear as to the student's role as the protagonist of the process, the teaching-learning process generates results in terms of knowledge construction and application of this knowledge in the studied context. Thus, positive supervision can improve the student's professional and/or social context. In the cases studied here, the students and their advisors worked together from the start of development of the undergraduate thesis; and shared their empirical and scientific knowledge. Tricárico","doi":"10.14210/at.v6n2.p42-48","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.14210/at.v6n2.p42-48","url":null,"abstract":"This report focuses on different forms of tourist attraction of the Sami indigenous people in the city Tromsø/Norway, such as identity marks and maintenance of traditions. The general objective is to analyse signs as symbolic elements of the Sami people, showing their potential for indigenous ethnic tourism. We conducted a survey of tourist attractions, and verified how this service is provided for tourists. This study uses as methodological and theorical perspective that is exploratory in nature, according to Husserl’s phenomenology (2001), with strategies of ethnography (MATTOS, 2011) and Peirce’s semiotics (2011). This research took place in Tromsø/Norway city, which is located 350 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle and is home to the Sami people. The techniques of interlocution with those involved resulted in field annotations, and the techniques of participant observation, open-ended interview, pictures and audio recordings with ten participants were also used. Besides the interviews, documents were studied, such as Convention 169 of the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the Sami legislation. It was observed, as a result of this research, that the city of Tromsø in Norway has evident tourist potential through the culture of the Sami people. The tourist attractions are varied, such as watching the Northern Lights, reindeer herding, and listening to stories of ancestry closely connected to nature, in a dialogic relationship between cultural tradition and science. It was also found that these tourist attractions are carried out responsibly, with sustainability in mind. In higher education in Tourism, extension activities are indispensable in the process of raising citizenship awareness among professionals in the area. Based on these premises, this article reflects on the importance of university extension as a tool for higher education in Tourism, as well as for democratizing access to university, taking as its field of study the project UFS de Braços Abertos. We begin with a report of experience of one of the actions of the project, in partnership with the Física Show, conducted with elementary and high school students from the city of Propriá, in the state of Sergipe/SE. The aims were: i) to critically discuss the common sense vision of the University as a restricted, excluding space that is distant from society, ii) to analyze the importance of the projects UFS de Braços Abertos and Física Show in the career choice of students in Basic Education and iii) to reflect on the importance of university extension projects for academic and professional training on the course in Tourism at Universidade Federal de Sergipe (UFS). As theoretical and methodological contributions, we adopted participant research (GIL, 2008), linked to descriptive research, and a qualitative approach. Our reflections indicate an increasing need to discuss university extension activities, bearing in mind that they provide a practical laboratory where theory and practice can be combined, contributing to students’ academic and professional training. Extension projects also provide opportunities for inclusion of the community outside the walls of UFS.
