Seven necessary transitions","authors":"Massimo Palme","doi":"10.36253/techne-14424","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.36253/techne-14424","url":null,"abstract":"Technological imagination and innovation processes have always been at the basis of economic growth and the expansion of human domination over other species. Nevertheless, something seems to have got stuck. Can the leaps in technological development that make it possible to “reset” the clock to start growing again in a sustained form really be infinite? Or are we facing something different, a limit in the structural stability of the ecosystem itself? The worsening of the polycrisis – certainly also energetic – will require drastic solutions but should also finally allow the (re)emergence of radical ideas of renewal and transformation, as well as concrete proposals for spatial organisation associated with the new lifestyles they prefigure.","PeriodicalId":44147,"journal":{"name":"Techne-Journal of Technology for Architecture and Environment","volume":"146 ","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135978896","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this sense, decentralised energy production technologies together with Renewable Energy Communities (RECs) and bottom-up initiatives play a strategic role in the establishment of local energy systems. The objective of the paper is to illustrate these dynamisms within the territorial system, and the characteristics of local initiatives and RECs as means of energy transition and economic development.","PeriodicalId":44147,"journal":{"name":"Techne-Journal of Technology for Architecture and Environment","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135978886","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Alongside academic research on the marginal areas of Abruzzo, a non-binding agreement with the administration of Taranta Peligna, a municipality in the Maiella National Park with strong marginality, attempts to trace a path of growth and value enhancement of both material resources (wool and water) and immaterial ones to react to an ongoing depopulation process.","PeriodicalId":44147,"journal":{"name":"Techne-Journal of Technology for Architecture and Environment","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135978890","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Kotabaru was formerly called Nieuwe Wijk, designed with the Garden City concept by a Dutch architect named Thomas Karsteen. The research aims to analyze the dimensions of urban design in the cultural heritage area in Kotabaru Yogyakarta. This area has critical socio-cultural values and is part of a city identity. However, the growth and changes in urbanization have impacted the quality of urban planning. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Data were collected through field observations, documentation studies, and interviews. The research location is in Kotabaru Yogyakarta, focusing on cultural heritage areas and historic buildings. The analysis includes elements of architecture, spatial planning, land use, regional zoning, and relations with local socio-culture. The research results reveal city design dimensions, including morphological, social, perceptual, visual, functional, and temporal dimensions related to elements in the Kotabaru Yogyakarta cultural heritage area.","PeriodicalId":44147,"journal":{"name":"Techne-Journal of Technology for Architecture and Environment","volume":"129 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135872724","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
