This paper introduces a solution that aims to reduce illegal parking, traffic jams and the average time for finding a free parking slot which in return decreases polluting gases emissions and saves energy. The proposed cloud-based system can be accessed by users either through an on-street terminal or a mobile application for best user experience. A detailed description of the proposed system is presented in this paper, followed by simulation results as a proof of concept.","PeriodicalId":441321,"journal":{"name":"2022 4th Global Power, Energy and Communication Conference (GPECOM)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114792717","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

More than 70% of households depend on farming to provide a living, making advancements in farming technologies are necessary. Irrigation is the most crucial and defining parameter for producing a healthy yield lack thereof can cause draught and low produce. On the flip side, over-irrigation causes deterioration of soil properties hence affecting the yield growth. An IoT-based irrigation system that integrates automation with the traditional irrigation system helps overcome these drawbacks. The paper primarily focuses on developing an intelligent system through Deep Learning Algorithms. Using Recurrent Neural Network (RNN), Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU), and Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) models of deep learning, the paper proposes a strategy to establish a system that can operate automatically through the forecasted data.","PeriodicalId":441321,"journal":{"name":"2022 4th Global Power, Energy and Communication Conference (GPECOM)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121711518","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thanks to the radio frequency (RF) and digital technologies, BF techniques are implemented in the both digital and analogue domains by using phase shifters (PS) networks. Adopting the digital PS, which has the finite resolution bits, leads to loss in the spectral efficiency (SE). Accordingly, in this paper, we extract the SE loss in a multi-user multiple inputs single output (MISO) system, which would be useful for practical prospective. To this end, we apply machine learning (ML) to extract the SE loss. Simulation results show that the extracted models have the desirable accuracy in the SE loss prediction.","PeriodicalId":441321,"journal":{"name":"2022 4th Global Power, Energy and Communication Conference (GPECOM)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114379862","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Firstly, a Conventional Gate Drive (CGD) circuit is implemented, followed by the proposal and implementation of an Active Gate Driver (AGD) circuit. Switching characteristics during turn-on and turn-off for both the CGD and AGD topologies are compared for the devices and it is observed that the proposed AGD circuit is capable of improving the switching stress as well as the switching losses. It is also observed that the switching losses for the JFET are lower than those of the MOSFET under identical test conditions, making it a more suitable choice for various applications.","PeriodicalId":441321,"journal":{"name":"2022 4th Global Power, Energy and Communication Conference (GPECOM)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117205981","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To face these challenges, we present a new switched beamforming (SBF) scheme based on the combination of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) and space division multiple access (SDMA) techniques. Then, we formulate a joint coordinated SBF and user pairing scheme in order to minimize the transmit power subject to the quality of service (QoS) constraints and pairing constraints in a fully cooperative multicell network. To solve the problem, we first provide an efficient method to compute the optimal beamformers for a user group. Consequently, the monitoring and quantification of this inertia to implement actions that can keep it above critical levels have become a key issue for the stability of power systems. In this regard, a residual neural network (ResNet) based alternative is proposed and investigated in this paper to estimate the equivalent inertia of a sample system when synchronous generating units are displaced by converter-interfaced generators. The proposed ResNet model is trained according to the frequency of the center of inertia and the corresponding computed rates of change of frequency for a predefined time interval, where sudden generation outages and load step changes are considered under variations of total load demand and equivalent inertia reductions. The accuracy of the proposed approach is compared against the one achieved with the application of two traditional machine learning techniques, such as Support Vector Machine and Random Forest.","PeriodicalId":441321,"journal":{"name":"2022 4th Global Power, Energy and Communication Conference (GPECOM)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131642592","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Consequently, efficiency and capacity of BSS drops drastically. Hence, SOC balancing is needed in CHB-MLC based BSSs. In this paper, a phase-shifted pulse width modulation (PS-PWM) based battery SOC balancing control scheme is proposed for grid-tied single-phase CHB-MLC based BSS. Moreover, a synchronous reference frame based bidirectional power flow control is utilized and unity power factor operation is obtained. Effective performance of the suggested BSS is tested and evaluated under different types of loads along with SOC imbalances. It is observed that while SOC balancing is accomplished successfully, active power flow is controlled and unity power factor operation is sustained.","PeriodicalId":441321,"journal":{"name":"2022 4th Global Power, Energy and Communication Conference (GPECOM)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125913178","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Rechargeable batteries are gaining momentum as the need for storing electrical energy is increasing day by day. Lithium-ion (Li-ion) technology is better than other rechargeable battery technologies due to its performance characteristics. However, under unfavourable charging and discharging conditions and/or differences in in-ternal parameters, Li-ion batteries tend to heat and adversely affect their performance which results in a reduced life cycle. The process of cell Balancing finds an important role in battery packs which takes the issue of cell imbalance into account. An active cell balancing circuit with an inductor as a storage element has been proposed in this study. The balancing of cells is carried out between four lithium-ion cells connected in series. This paper consists of a detailed study of the design and operation of the cell balancing circuit. An algorithm has been developed in stateflow and simulated on MATLAB.","PeriodicalId":441321,"journal":{"name":"2022 4th Global Power, Energy and Communication Conference (GPECOM)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125374992","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
