Understanding perception of people and factors driving their intention to purchase hence is of prime importance. With this objective, this study investigates the determinants of health insurance purchase intention among prospective buyers in Thrissur district. The study is based on primary data collected from middle income group private sector employees in urban areas of district who are not yet taken individual health insurance policy. This work focuses on middle income group respondents since there exist potential for expansion of insurance services in this stratum. However, the most recent changes are posing a serious threat to disrupt the stability of the organization. These changes stem from three primary drivers: technological advancements, heightened competition—particularly from international competitors and societal shifts in consumption habits across urban and rural India as incomes increase and online retail expands. In response to this threat, the organization has utilized its resources to introduce new products aligned with customer preferences, branching into diverse industries and product categories. Initiatives such as logistics services in partnership with Indian railways, retail offerings like bill collection and facilitating college applications, and the establishment of a financial arm named \"Payment Bank\" signify the organization's transformation from solely providing postal-related services to a multifaceted service provider. However, there's a question regarding the success of these product diversifications and whether they align with the organization's existing capabilities and potential to develop new strengths, notably in the case of the payment bank. So, the present study examines the performance of India Post Payment bank in the last five years.","PeriodicalId":441226,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Business Management and Information Systems","volume":" 34","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140390889","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In Kerala, there are 38 registered Geographical indications. Geographical indications are often viewed as a marketing tool that supports producers and consumers. The producers can use GIs as a product differentiation tool that helps them gain a competitive advantage. Whereas for consumers GIs act as a tool that helps them overcome information asymmetry and therefore choose genuine products. The present study is done to identify the factors determining the purchase intention of customers towards handloom textiles having geographical indications. The sample for the present study is drawn from the customers of Kuthampully Textiles, a geographical indication registered in Kerala. The data collected were analyzed using factor analysis and logistic regression. The factor analysis was done to identify the main factors affecting the purchase intention of GI-tagged textiles and the logistic regression was applied to determine factor interactions.","PeriodicalId":441226,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Business Management and Information Systems","volume":"18 9","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140396448","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To strengthen the micro business segment, a feather has been added under the aegis of GOI in the year 2015 to the formal lending system in the form of MUDRA. It has been a milepost accomplishment in the financial inclusion panorama. Through this system, the endeavour is to bring all the sectors into mainstream and to make financial services available to all the sectors. MUDRA provides different categories and sub-categories of formal loans at a low rate of interest according to the needs and requirements of startups and other micro enterprise units. MUDRA loans have been instrumental in providing financial support to individuals from various social groups, promoting inclusivity and empowerment. It addresses the lack of access to formal credit for individuals from different social groups, who often face difficulties in obtaining loans from traditional banking institutions due to various reasons such as lack of collateral, low income, or limited credit history. It offers customized loan products designed to cater to the specific needs and requirements of small and micro enterprises. MUDRA Credit is accompanied by various support mechanisms such as capacity building, skill development, and business mentoring. These initiatives help borrowers enhance their entrepreneurial skills, manage their businesses effectively, and improve their chances of success. \u0000It is important to note that MUDRA loans are not limited to any specific social group. They are available to individuals from all social groups who meet the eligibility criteria. The loans have been designed to cater to the diverse needs and aspirations of entrepreneurs across different social backgrounds, facilitating their access to formal credit and promoting entrepreneurship at the grassroots level. The present study utilizes the secondary data including government reports, surveys, and scholarly articles, and case studies, to provide an in-depth understanding of the sub-categories within the Mudra Yojana framework to assess the effectiveness and inclusivity of the Mudra Yojana in reaching marginalized communities. The study period is six years from 2016-17 to 2021-22. The Shishu category recorded the highest number of accounts i.e., 26,70,67,119 along with highest loan disbursement of Rs. 7,31,706.97 among all the categories. The study shows continuous growth among all the sub-categories (except in OBC in Shishu Loans) in all the Mudra Loans Schemes.","PeriodicalId":441226,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Business Management and Information Systems","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128187880","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"Economic Productivity through Net National Disposable Income","authors":"Pooja Khari","doi":"10.48001/jbmis.2023.1002001","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.48001/jbmis.2023.1002001","url":null,"abstract":"According to the Keynesian consumption function, Consumption expenditure plays a crucial role in determining the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), as evident in the Absolute Income Hypothesis. This concept has subsequently been used in developing the permanent income hypothesis and the life cycle hypothesis. However, when considering the net national disposable income after accounting for factors like net factor income from abroad, taxes, and subsidies, it becomes clear that final consumption expenditure holds a more dominant position. A gap in the existing literature arises from the historical unavailability of data, leading to the use of GDP as a proxy variable instead of net national disposable income when determining the consumption function for India. This research paper aims to address this gap by employing the net national disposable income of the Indian economy to estimate the consumption function for the period between 1994 and 2018. Additionally, it empirically tests the long-term effects of current income and current wealth (defined as past year income minus past year consumption) on consumption within the context of the Indian economy. The empirical findings provide support for a significant positive relationship between consumption and income and wealth. This is further substantiated by the significant values of the marginal propensity to consume (MPC) derived from income and wealth during the given time period. The estimated equation aligns with the life cycle hypothesis for the Indian economy, indicating that long-term, steadfast planning is crucial for improving the productive capacity of the economy, reducing poverty, and enhancing employment levels more effectively.","PeriodicalId":441226,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Business Management and Information Systems","volume":"137 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121979969","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

MUDRA has been aimed at administering a common platform to both banks and tiny enterprises customers and plays a significant role by bringing them together to this platform. It has been set up as a refinancing institution. Its main goal is to provide mudra loans up to Rs 10,00,000 to the micro enterprises through last mile financiers, so that they can start or expand their businesses. Its primary goal is to refinance various last-mile financial institutions that support the growth of small businesses in the non-corporate sector by lending money to them. These last mile financial institutions include NBFCs, Regional Rural Banks, Commercial Banks, Small Finance Banks, and MFIs. These institutions provide funds to the small business sector which is involved in manufacturing, trading, and Agri-allied activities. The borrower can approach to any of financial institution to get the benefit of mudra loans and to serve the purpose of their existence. \u0000Mudra scheme helps millions of small borrowers who were facing the acute financial shortage due to numerous reasons and were striving hard to get the financial assistance for starting or expanding their business activities. In this study, an effort has been made to use statistical methods like mean, coefficient of variation, and trend analysis to examine the category-wise performance of various mudra loans during a six-year period, from 2016–17 to 2021–22. The analysis is based on secondary information that was obtained from the MUDRA official website. The interpretation of the figures for the study period indicates that among the three main categories of Mudra Loans, Shishu Loan Scheme has captured the largest share in terms of number of accounts as well as in terms of amount sanctioned followed by Kishore and Tarun Loans. Since its origin, over a period of seven years of operations i.e., from 2015-16 to 2021-22, PMMY has benefitted in aggregate approximately 34.92 crore loan account holders of micro enterprise segment by administering an aggregate amount of 18.90 crore.","PeriodicalId":441226,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Business Management and Information Systems","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127823950","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Savings and investments are essential for accelerating economic growth and elevating India. The goal of this study is to investigate the saving opportunities, investing behaviour, and degree of financial literacy among IT professionals. IT professionals have a distinct perspective when they decide to invest in a certain avenue and they want their money to be invested in the most safe and liquid method possible. These are just a few examples of the many characteristics of savings and investment behaviour. Their investing goals likewise vary, ranging from monetary stability to extra revenue and so forth. The study looks at how people's savings and investing choices are related to their degrees of financial literacy. A structured questionnaire was used for the primary survey analysis of 90 IT professionals employed in India's national capital area. The results demonstrate a substantial link between investment decisions and perceived financial knowledge.","PeriodicalId":441226,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Business Management and Information Systems","volume":"222 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117004209","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
