Ever since the COVID-19 outbreak, numerous researchers have attempted to train accurate Deep Learning (DL) models, especially Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), to assist medical personnel in diagnosing COVID-19 infections from Chest X-Ray (CXR) images. However, data imbalance and small dataset sizes have been an issue in training DL models for medical image classification tasks. On the other hand, most researchers focused on complex novel methods instead and few explored this problem. In this research, we demonstrated how Self-Supervised Learning (SSL) can assist DL models during pre-training","PeriodicalId":44079,"journal":{"name":"Communications in Mathematical Biology and Neuroscience","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.3,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69234139","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this case, modeling with regression analysis becomes ineffective because it will violate the multicollinearity assumption. The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) can handle high-dimensional data and multicollinearity because LASSO works by reducing the parameters of variables with significant effects and selecting variables with minor effects. In its application, several variables have the same characteristics. Reducing and selecting variables in the form of groups can solve the problem so that the group LASSO can be used as a solution. This study used data on antioxidant activity in C. asiatica. It is a plant that contains antioxidants. The spectroscopic technique can find important information about antioxidants, namely the Fourier transformed infrared spectrophotometer (FTIR). FTIR is a spectroscopic technique based on molecular vibrations subjected to infrared so that it can characterize molecules with functional groups. The present research is concerned with studying the media coverage delay impact and vaccine impact to control outbreaks the infectious disease in the population, we suggested that our mathematical modeling divide the population into three classes: susceptible persons S(t) , vaccinated person V(t) and infected persons I(t) . The susceptible individuals are also divided due to media programs into awareness and unawareness of disease danger and its mode of transmission. We studied the influence of time delay in response to the media program on awareness of the epidemic. We first discussed the existence of the equilibrium points of the system and obtain sufficient conditions for the local asymptotic stability of all equilibrium points. Further, the existence of Hopf bifurcation is shown near endemic equilibrium. It is interesting to note that there exists at least one limit cycle around the unstable endemic equilibrium. In particular, sufficient conditions for a unique stable limit","PeriodicalId":44079,"journal":{"name":"Communications in Mathematical Biology and Neuroscience","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.3,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69239339","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A novel mathematical model is constructed in this article to understand the impact of active case findings and treatment to suppress the spread of lymphatic filariasis. The model is constructed as a nine-dimensional system of ordinary differential equations which considering the effect of misdiagnosis in the screening process. The analytical study was carried out to analyze the existence and stability of the equilibrium points, the control reproduction number, and the nonexistence of backward bifurcations in the model. Our analytical results show that the condition of free-filariasis will always be established if the control reproduction number is less than one. On the other hand, we always have a unique and stable endemic equilibrium if and only if the control reproduction number is greater than one. Our sensitivity analysis has shown that a combination of active case detection, duration, and successful probability of treatment could effectively reduce the intensity of lymphatic filariasis spread in the population.","PeriodicalId":44079,"journal":{"name":"Communications in Mathematical Biology and Neuroscience","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.3,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69243325","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is assumed that the predator doesn’t distinguish between the healthy prey and sick prey and hence it consumed both. The solution’s properties such as existence, uniqueness, positivity, and bounded are discussed. The existence and stability conditions of all possible equilibrium points are studied. The persistence requirements of the proposed system are established. The bifurcation analysis near the non-hyperbolic equilibrium points is investigated. Numerically, some simulations are carried out to validate the main findings and obtain the critical values of the bifurcation parameters, if any. It is obtained that the existence of fear controls the disease outbreak and the system's persistence. While in the case of a rising hunting cooperation rate, the induced fear may control the outbreak of disease.","PeriodicalId":44079,"journal":{"name":"Communications in Mathematical Biology and Neuroscience","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.3,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69243752","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The obesity epidemic is associated with several cardiovascular risk factors, including diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, and hypertension. Insulin resistance is believed to play a crucial role in the emergence of various health problems. Apart from genetic factors, obesity, particularly abdominal obesity, is a major contributor to the onset of diabetes. In this study, we present a mathematical model that captures the interplay between the prevalence of obesity and diabetes, and we investigate the adverse effects of excess weight on the well-being of diabetic individuals. Our approach employs Pontryagin’s maximum principle to determine the optimal control strategies, and we solve the resulting system through iterative methods. Finally, we perform numerical simulations using Matlab to validate our theoretical analysis.","PeriodicalId":44079,"journal":{"name":"Communications in Mathematical Biology and Neuroscience","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.3,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69245211","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
