The poem of Secundus has the peculiarity of presenting lovers embracing and / or kissing at the moment of death to arrive together to the hereafter converted into a single being (and lovers take as an example of their union both physical and spiritual the The yedra attached to the trunk of any tree). Lope de Vega was the author who imitated him more literally, but not the only one who exerted his influence on the later poets: Pierre Ronsard and Juan Melendez Valdes, who were based on another poem of the Basia, became fundamental models of Federico Garcia Lorca and Pablo Neruda. The great poet was also inspired by the death of Adonis in both the version of Bion and that of Ovid.","PeriodicalId":44004,"journal":{"name":"REVISTA DE LITERATURA","volume":"82 1","pages":"9-32"},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2020-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43053636","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"文学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These are the main ideas developed in this paper: silence as an attitude of literary concentration, as opposed to the agreed reason and to the conventional language, as an intuitive analysis of a reality that is beyond perception and as an attitude of wait of a transcendent revelation beyond death. This topic is of paramount importance as it has had an influence on mystics, romantics, symbolists, avant-garde writers and other important contemporary authors such as Samuel Beckett, Octavio Paz and the Spanish poetry of silence, among others.","PeriodicalId":44004,"journal":{"name":"REVISTA DE LITERATURA","volume":"82 1","pages":"235-256"},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2020-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42145790","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"文学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its interest lies in the fact that the manuscript includes some information about Quevedo’s Buscon. According to its text, scholars should reconsider the idea that this work had an early and profuse handwritten diffusion, previous to the first edition, published in Zaragoza in 1626. The letter is also an early testimony about the reception of the picaresque novel in Madrid at that time: it is the first critical judgment about the Buscon. In addition, it can be inferred from this letter that another edition could have circulated simultaneously, or even prior to the princeps in that place. That unknown edition differed from the other at least for having included a promise about a forthcoming second part, a detail that was only mentioned in manuscript tradition.","PeriodicalId":44004,"journal":{"name":"REVISTA DE LITERATURA","volume":"82 1","pages":"59-93"},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2020-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48511908","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"文学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Furthermore, it concentrates specifically on the different ways the characters’ right wing and fascist ideology are portrayed taking into account the current theoretical approach on Historical Memory that revisits events that took place during the Spanish Civil War and Franco’s dictatorship. The fictionalization of those characters that joined the Spanish Division Azul in the novels written by Almudena Grandes, Juan Manuel de Prada, Pio Moa, Ignacio del Valle y Lorenzo Silva shows that in some authors there is a clear Manichaean narrative strategy while other ones opt for a more critical and plural approach. The latter is open to a metanarrative deliberation on the creation of conflicting and disruptive memories in today’s cultural and literary Spain.","PeriodicalId":44004,"journal":{"name":"REVISTA DE LITERATURA","volume":"82 1","pages":"277-300"},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2020-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41615036","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"文学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With Racine’s version, Hickey became the first Spanish female writer interested in translating Neoclassical tragedy, as well as the only female who dared to translate the dramatic work of this reputed French playwright into our language. In addition, Hickey’s work opens with an interesting preface in which the author reflects on different aspects related to the Neoclassical concept of tragedy and the purpose of drama. This paper analyses Margarita Hickey’s contribution to turn-of-the-century theoretical discourse on tragedy, when the Neoclassical reformism has to coexist, not without some tension, with a conception of theater closer to the popular taste and more open to new dramatic models.","PeriodicalId":44004,"journal":{"name":"REVISTA DE LITERATURA","volume":"82 1","pages":"95-122"},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2020-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47547364","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"文学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Following the tradition of chivalric biographies and manuals, in that chivalric biography love is regarded as an ennobling force, closely related to virtue, honor and military prowess. This concept of chivalric love, which also lies at the heart of medieval warrior aristocratic ideology, coexists in El Victorial with other representations, more common among literary, medical or religious genres.
