Healthcare professionals, especially doctors, faced a tremendous amount of responsibility irrespective of the specialty and levels of ex-perience. The majority of nations saw physicians from all medical specialties relocate to COVID-19 wards. Working outside of one's comfort zone would have a significant psychosocial impact, especially in a crisis like the pandemic. To describe the experience of noninfectious disease physicians redeployed to COVID-19 duties. Material(s) and Method(s): All noninfectious disease physicians who were redeployed to COVID-19 duties received a Google form with 25 questions. Using the Pearson chi-squared test and the Fisher exact test, the relationship between survey responses and working experience and department was investigated. Statistical threshold was set at p<0.05. Result(s): Out of 180 respondents, 114 completed the survey in total. Most of the participants were female (64.9%) aged between 31-40 years old (86.8%) with 64.9% having 5-10 years of working experience. During the redeployment, 57% of respondents reported experiencing psychological effects, and 73.7% felt underprepared. However, 71.1% said their assign-ment to COVID-19 wards was beneficial, and 38.4% were willing to receive redeployment. Conclusion(s): The results of the survey indicate that COVID-19 ward redeployment was successful because participants believed their participation was important and the lead team in the COVID-19 wards offered enough direction and assistance. Doctors are prepared to safely treat COVID-19 patients, thanks to the intensive crash course and their fundamental medical knowledge. In Turkiye, official statistics indicate some 15 million cases and a death toll of 98,660. It is important that clinicians consider the possibility of the co-occurrence of other respiratory microorganisms with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection, the virus that causes COVID-19, when managing treatment, particularly severe COVID-19 patients. The burden and effect of a secondary infection may be significant, especially in patients with chronic disease and advanced age. Proper attention to potential co-infections can prevent COVID-19 progression and the development of complications. The disease can affect different organs such as the lungs, heart, pancreas, kidney, and unusual symptoms can be seen. Information on the clinical impact of SARS-CoV-2 infection on renal function among pediatric age groups is scarce. Case Report: In this report, we presented a 13-year-old boy who was admitted to our hospital with the relapse of nephrotic syndrome caused by COVID-19. The patient had mild upper respiratory tract symptoms, eyelid edema and progressive swelling of the lower extremities. Clinical remission was achieved with oral prednisolone therapy without the use of any antiviral drugs. Conclusion: Patients with nephrotic syndrome presenting with relapse should be evaluated for potential COVID-19 infection during the pandemic. The use of routine doses of prednisolone appears to be safe in mild disease.","PeriodicalId":43995,"journal":{"name":"Erciyes Medical Journal","volume":"147 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74261834","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Materials and Methods: The study was a retrospective review of the records of 617 patients who underwent CLCP surgery between 2015–2019. Results: The number of anesthesia complications was higher in patients with difficult mask ventilation. Surgical complications were more common in patients >1 year of age. Isolated cleft palate (CP) surgery;presence of a concomitant disease, syndrome, or micrognathia;age >1 year;and the CP subtype were associated with a higher rate of difficult intubation. Isolated cleft palate, concomitant disease, syndrome, micrognathia, difficult intubation, difficult mask ventilation, and anesthesia complications were associated with ICU admission. Conclusion: The CP subtype was associated with a higher rate of difficult intubation and ICU hospitalization even in patients who were nonsyndromic and/or >1 year of age. Therefore, special attention should be paid to the anesthesia and surgical management of these patients.","PeriodicalId":43995,"journal":{"name":"Erciyes Medical Journal","volume":"16 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91243559","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Materials and Methods: The sample of this descriptive study consisted of 203 pregnant women reached over online between May 15 and June 1, 2020. To collect data in the study, the 'Personal Information Form', 'COVID-19 PandemicRelated Information Form' and 'Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21)' were used. Results: In our study, it was determined that 81.7% of the pregnant women experienced anxiety, 56.1% depression and 24.1% stress, according to the median values obtained from DASS-21. The median values of anxiety and stress of unemployed women were higher than those of working women and the difference between them was statistically significant (p=0.011;p=0.023). The differences between social media use (p=0.044;p=0.048;p=0.015), thinking that they are positive for COVID-19 (p=0.009;p=0.014;p=0.001), thoughts about the end of the COVID-19 pandemic (p=0.001;p=0.001;p=0.001), worrying about their own health and the fetus (p=0.001;p=0.001;p=0.001), and experiencing abnormal physical symptoms (p=0.001;p=0.001;p=0.001) had statistically significant effects on the anxiety, depression and stress subscale median values of pregnant women. Conclusion: Pregnant women were found to experience depression and anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is considered that knowing the negative psychosocial reactions experienced by pregnant women during the COVID-19 pandemic and taking protective measures will contribute to improving the health outcomes of the mother and the fetus.","PeriodicalId":43995,"journal":{"name":"Erciyes Medical Journal","volume":"7 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87291647","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This infection can also affect the cardiovascular system and lead to serious cardiac pathologies. In this article, we present a case of transient bradyarrhythmia in a patient who was diagnosed with COVID-19 and recovered spontaneously with treatment. Case Report: A 74-year-old male patient was hospitalized with symptomatic COVID-19 infection. At the time of hospitalization, the patient was asymptomatic from a cardiac stand-point, but was found to have sinoatrial exit block type 2-2, intermittent Mobitz type 2 atrio-ventricular block, and sinus bradycardia. The medical team decided to closely monitor the patient, who responded well to COVID-19 treatment and did not develop bradyarrhythmia as his symptoms improved. Conclusion: Patients with COVID-19 infection should be closely monitored for bradyar-rhythmia. Permanent pacemaker should not be rushed in these patients.","PeriodicalId":43995,"journal":{"name":"Erciyes Medical Journal","volume":"49 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87323145","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
