This type of research is correlational quantitative research. The sample of this research is class XI, 1 class totaling 33 students. In determining the sample, the researcher used the Cluster Random Sampling technique. The research instrument was a questionnaire sheet to measure students' habit of taking notes and the writing test to measure students' writing ability. The data analysis technique was carried out by calculating the Pearson Product Moment Correlation statistic. The results of this study indicate that r-count = 0.358 with an interpretation of r 0.20 - 0.39 so that the level of relationship between the two variables is in the Low Correlation category. While the 5% significant test is 0.344. It is known that r-count is higher than r-table with a significant level of 5% (0,358>0,344) which mean Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. So the hypothesis of this research is accepted; is there any correlation between students’ habit of taking notes and their writing ability at senior high school? Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between students' habit of taking notes and their writing ability at senior high school.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kebiasaan siswa mencatat dan kemampuan menulis siswa pada tingkat SMA. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif korelasional. Sampel penelitian ini kelas XI yaitu 1 kelas yang berjumlah 33 siswa. Dalam penentuan sampel, peneliti menggunakan teknik Cluster Random Sampling. Instrument penelitian berupa lembaran angket untuk mengukur kebiasaan siswa mencatat dan tes menulis teks deskripsi untuk mengukur kemampuan menulis siswa. Teknik analisis data dilakukan dengan perhitungan statistik Pearson Product Moment Correlation. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa r-hitung = 0.358 dengan interpretasi r 0.20 - 0.39 sehingga tingkat hubungan antara dua variabel di kategori Low Correlation. Sedangkan uji signifikan 5% sebesar 0.344. Diketahui r-hitung lebih besar dari r-table dengan taraf signifikan 5% (0,358>0,344) yang berarti Ha diterima dan Ho ditolak. Jadi hipotesis dalam penelitian ini diterima; Apakah ada hubungan antara kebiasaan siswa mencatat dengan kemampuan menulisnya di SMA?. This research was qualitative research in the form of a case study. The subjects in this study were three English teachers at MTsN Padang Panjang. The instruments used to collect data were interviews, questionnaires, and observations of the participants' online learning recordings. Interviews and observations were used to obtain primary data, while questionnaires were used to obtain secondary data. The data obtained were compared with the ideal criteria for applying the three teaching skills above taken from Helmiati's book. This book was used as guidance because it has been used as a reference for many Universities in Micro Teaching course. From the comparison differences were found, from the differences, the impact of online learning on teacher performance in applying the three teaching skills above were concluded. From the results of the study, it was concluded that online learning had impact on teacher performance in applying the three teaching skills. First, not all of the ideal criteria done by the teachers, second teachers did the ideal criteria in limited form because of the limited time available, third the teachers did the criteria in inappropriate time so that the aim of the criteria was not achieved.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dampak dari pembelajaran daring terhadap performa guru dalam mengaplikasikan keterampilan membuka dan menutup pelajaran, keterampilan menjelaskan dan keterampilan mengadakan variasi dalam mengajar. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif berbentuk studi kasus. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah tiga guru Bahasa Inggris di MtsN Padang Panjang. Instrumen yang digunakan sebagai alat pengumpul data adalah wawancara, kuesioner, dan observasi terhadap rekaman pembelajaran online para partisipan. Wawancara dan observasi digunakan untuk mendapatkan data primer, sedangkan kuesioner digunakan untuk mendapatkan data sekunder. Data-data yang didapat dibandingkan dengan kriteria ideal penerapan tiga keterampilan mengajar di atas yang diambil dari buku Micro Teaching tulisan Helmiati. Buku ini digunakan sebagai rujukan karena telah digunakan oleh banyak perguruan tinggi sebagai rujukan dalam mata kuliah micro teaching. Dari perbandingan, perbedaan-perbedaan ditemukan, dari perbedaan-perbedaan tersebut maka implikasi-implikasi pembelajaran daring terhadap performa guru dalam mengaplikasikan tiga keterampilan mengajar di atas disimpulkan. Dari hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran daring memiliki dampak terhadap performa guru dalam mengaplikasikan tiga keterampilan mengajar. This study aimed to find out and describe the types of referential cohesive devices used in the songs, and to explain the pattern of referential cohesive devices that were delivered in Maher Zain’s songs lyric. This study used qualitative approach with library research where Halliday and Hasan’s theory was used to answer the problem of the research. The data was analyzed by using Miles, Huberman, and Saldana’s data analysis technique: data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing or verification. The researcher generated results from tables that accompanied by various type of referential cohesive devices used in the songs. The researcher chose seven songs from Salam album that were written by Maher Zain. The findings were shown that there were 62 words based on personal reference which including 46 words for existential cohesive devices, 16 words for possessive determiners and there was no for the type of possessive pronoun. There were 11 words for demonstrative reference including 1 word for adverbial demonstrative reference and 10 words for selective nominal demonstrative reference.Penelitian yang berjudul “Analisis Perangkat Kohesif Referensial yang Digunakan Dalam Lagu Karya “Maher Zain”. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan jenis-jenis perangkat kohesif referensial yang digunakan dalam lagu, serta menjelaskan pola perangkat kohesif referensial yang dibawakan dalam lirik lagu Maher Zain. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan studi pustaka dimana teori Halliday dan Hasan digunakan untuk menjawab permasalahan penelitian. Teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis data Miles, Huberman, dan Saldana: kondensasi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan atau verifikasi. Peneliti menghasilkan hasil dari tabel yang disertai dengan berbagai jenis perangkat kohesif referensial yang digunakan dalam lagu. Peneliti memilih tujuh lagu dari album Salam yang ditulis oleh Maher Zain. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa berdasarkan referensi pribadi terdapat 62 kata yang meliputi 46 kata untuk perangkat kohesif eksistensial, 16 kata untuk penentu posesif dan tidak ada untuk jenis kata ganti posesif. This research will provide insight for educators, decision makers and students about the implementation of extensive reading programs so that programs can be carried out better. This research is descriptive research which is categorized into qualitative research. data obtained through observation and group interviews. data was analyzed using Miles and Hubberman models. research found extensive reading has not fully fulfilled the extensive reading principles. Some students struggle with reading, wherein there is a lot of difficult vocabulary. Besides, students' reading habits have emerged. students are glad to read online through a reading application.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah program extensive reading telah melaksanakan prinsip extensive reading serta apakah program mampu memunculkan kebiasaan membaca siswa. Penelitian dilaksanakan karena evaluasi program extensive reading jarang dilaksanakan serta program tersebut belum dapat meningkatkan kunjungan ke perpustakaan secara signifinikan dimana ini merupakan indikasi meningkatnya kecintaan peserta didik untuk membaca. penelitian ini akan memberikan wawasan kepada pendidik, pembuat keputusan dan peserta didik tentang pelaksanaan program sehingga program dapat dilaksanakan dengan lebih baik. penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif yang merupakan penelitian kualitatif. data diperoleh melalui pengamatan dan wawancara kelompok. data dianalisis menggunakan model Miles and Huberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan program extensive reading belum sepenuhnya memenuhi kriteria extensive reading. beberapa peserta didik masih kesulitan dalam membaca dimana banyak kosakata yang sulit ditemukan. The primary goal of this article is to provide information regarding two remarkable procedures, GTM and CLT, as GTM was previously widely employed and CLT is currently very well known. This paper's strength is in its ability to increase educational professionals' understanding, particularly about English teaching methods. The principles used to compare the two approaches are clearly outlined. The principles are characteristics of the teaching-learning process, the nature of instruction, handling the students' feelings and emotions, the significance of the students' native languages, the language skills that are prioritized, and the teacher's response to the mistakes of the students. CLT is currently the more advantageous approach, while GTM still offers some advantages.Salah satu kunci dalam mengimplementasikan tujuan pendidikan dalam proses belajar mengajar, khususnya di kelas bahasa Inggris adalah metodologi. Tujuan utama dari artikel ini adalah untuk memberikan informasi mengenai dua metode yang luar biasa, GTM dan CLT, karena GTM sebelumnya banyak digunakan dan CLT saat ini sangat terkenal. Keunggulan tulisan ini terletak pada kemampuannya untuk meningkatkan pemahaman para profesional pendidik, khususnya tentang metode pengajaran bahasa Inggris. Prinsip-prinsip yang digunakan untuk membandingkan kedua metode tersebut diuraikan dengan jelas. Prinsip-prinsip tersebut adalah karakteristik proses belajar-mengajar, sifat pengajaran, penanganan perasaan dan emosi siswa, pentingnya bahasa ibu siswa, keterampilan bahasa yang diprioritaskan, dan respon guru terhadap kesalahan siswa. The use of communal perspectives in critiques and personal ideologies of critics are openly declared in their works. The communal perspective outweighs any liberal or conservative beliefs as the aim of most literary critics is to advocate for the development of the society. As such, literary critics either focus on reconciling progressive ideas with cultural values or criticise liberal themes since they prefer to maintain social ideals. Although Indonesia has some progressive values that are followed in the society, the traditional values that existed before colonialism are considered as superior and more beneficial to the society.Ketegangan antara sudut pandang individu dan perspektif komunal sering kali memberikan warna pada karya-karya kritikus sastra sastra Indonesia. Penggunaan perspektif komunal dalam kritik dan ideologi pribadi kritik dinyatakan secara terbuka dalam karya mereka. Perspektif komunal lebih banyak daripada kepercayaan liberal atau konservatif karena tujuan dari para kritikus sastra adalah untuk memajukan pengembangan masyarakat. Dengan demikian, para kritikus sastra fokus pada rekonsiliasi ide -ide progresif dengan nilai -nilai budaya atau mengkritik tema-tema liberal karena mereka lebih suka mempertahankan cita -cita sosial. The English teacher who used the module said that the instructions in the module only use English while students are still in the second grade. Thus, the students find it difficult to understand what to do and there are a lot of subject materials in the module. The purpose of this research is mainly intended to find out whether the module is appropriate or not with the criteria of good material design suggested by Sundara Rajan. The descriptive quantitative research was used in this research. In collecting data, the researcher used rubric and documentation as the instrument. The researcher analyzed the module by taking data with the following steps: Finding out the material, after that identifying the material, classifying the material, coding the data, comparing the material in the module with the criteria of good material design suggested by Rajan, and the last giving a percentage to rate the module. The results showed that the percentage of appropriate on material design for each material in the module includes: Numbers 11-20 is 82% or good, Part of Body is 82% or good, Simple Instructions 1&2 is 91% or good , Thanks and Sorry is 82% or good, Things in The Class is 55% or deficient, Part of School is 64% or fair, Food is 82% or good, Drinks is 82% or good, Part of House is 82% or good, Things in The Diningroom is 82% or good, Things in The Kitchen is 82% or good. The final result shows that the percentage of appropriate on the material design developed in the module is 79%. It means that the module has good criteria on material design as suggested by Rajan.Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah permasalahan yang ada pada modul yang berjudul “Bahasa Inggris Kelas 2 SDIT Syahiral 'Ilmi” yaitu guru bahasa Inggris yang menggunakan modul mengatakan bahwa petunjuk dalam modul hanya menggunakan bahasa Inggris sementara siswa masih kelas dua sehingga siswa sulit memahami apa yang harus dilakukan dan terdapat banyak materi pelajaran dalam modul. Tujuan dari penelitian ini terutama untuk mengetahui apakah modul tersebut sesuai atau tidak dengan kriteria desain material yang baik yang dikemukakan oleh Sundara Rajan. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Dalam pengumpulan data, peneliti menggunakan rubrik dan dokumentasi sebagai instrumennya. Peneliti menganalisis modul dengan mengambil data dengan langkah-langkah sebagai berikut: Menemukan materi, setelah itu mengidentifikasi materi, mengklasifikasikan materi, coding data, membandingkan materi dalam modul dengan kriteria desain materi yang baik yang disarankan oleh Rajan , dan memberikan persentase untuk menilai modul. The result of this study was applying meaning base translation and the cultural aspects in translation and interpretation by considering the communicative norms in the target language.Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan bagaimana konsep menerjemahkan dan menafsirkan sebuah teks dalam bentuk tulisan atau pidato dalam bentuk lisan dengan memperhatikan unsure budaya yang berkembang dalam bahasa target. Ada beberapa kesalahan yang sering terjadi dalam menerjemahkan dan menafsirkan sebuah teks; yang pertama masih banyak penerjemah yang melakukan kesalahan yang mereka anggap biasa, namun hal tersebut berdampak besar terhadap hasil terjemahan yang tidak sesuai dengan maksud bahasa sumber yakninya melupakan satu hal yang sangat penting yaitu berbabsiskan budaya yang berkembang secara tertulis, kedua penerjemah masih menerjemahkan teks dengan menggunakan metode mengartikan kata per kata, ketiga penerjemah melupakan bahwa dalam menerjemah harus ada communicative norms (norma-norma yang berlaku) dalam bahasa target. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan peneliti dengan megumpulkan beberapa e-book, jurnal, artikel, dan sumber lain yang terkait sebagi sumber data pada penelitian ini. Tinjauan pustaka, sebagai alat untuk pengumpulan data, dengan cara mengidentifikasi, mendokumentasikan, memahami, menyiratkan, dan mentransmisikan data. Artikel ini menggunakan pendekatan tinjauan pustaka. One of the solutions to break the problem is practicing visualization strategy in teaching reading. Visualization strategy is recognized as one of the strategies that are effective and easy to apply in the teaching and learning process. The strategy is used to create their own images from the text in their minds. The image created in the minds of students is strongly influenced by their background knowledge. Strategies also help readers to find detailed information. This study aims to determine the application of visualization strategies to improve reading comprehension. This study applied a library research approach. Content analysis was used to analyze the data. This study found that visualization strategies can improve students' reading comprehension, especially in understanding detailed information.Kesulitan siswa dalam memahami bacaan, terutama menemukan informasi rinci masih menjadi masalah utama dalam pengajaran membaca. Salah satu solusi untuk memecahkan masalah tersebut adalah mempraktekkan strategi visualisasi dalam pengajaran membaca. Strategi visualisasi diakui sebagai salah satu strategi yang efektif dan mudah diterapkan dalam proses belajar mengajar. Strategi tersebut digunakan untuk membuat gambar sendiri dari teks dalam pikiran mereka. Citra yang tercipta di benak siswa sangat dipengaruhi oleh latar belakang pengetahuannya. Strategi juga membantu pembaca untuk menemukan informasi rinci. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penerapan strategi visualisasi untuk meningkatkan pemahaman bacaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kepustakaan. Analisis isi digunakan untuk menganalisis data. This study is carried out by using a qualitative approach that describes the use of students’ speech acts in the interaction of student-student, and student-lecture. 24 students engaged in the discussion study and participated as the source of the data. The instrument used by the researcher to collect the data was an observation sheet supported by video recording. The recording of the video was transcribed into a text which to examined by the researcher of their speech acts. The research findings show that there were assertive, directives, expressive, and commissives performed by English department students. The most frequent speech acts performed by the students were assertive with a total of 7 utterances, directive with a total of 9 utterances, and commissive with a total 0f 10 utterances. Assertive speech acts were performed to demonstrate the material of the discussion by the presenter and used to deliver the idea toward the discussion study by the other participants. Directive speech acts were produced to ask the question, request for answer the question, suggestion, command, and invite in the discussion. Last, expressive speech acts presently as the most dominant speech acts in the discussion study including the word thanking, appreciating, agreeing, praising, and apologizing.Penelitian ini membahas tentang klasifikasi tindak tutur yang dihasilkan oleh mahasiswa dalam studi diskusi online di Jurusan Bahasa Inggris di Universitas Negeri Padang, Indonesia. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif yang menggambarkan penggunaan tindak tutur mahasiswa dalam interaksi mahasiswa ke mahasiswa, dan mahasiswa ke dosen. Terdapat dua puluh empat mahasiswa yang terlibat dalam diskusi yang berpartisipasi sebagai sumber data. Insturmen yang digunakan peneliti adalah lembar observasi yang didukung oleh rekaman video. Rekaman video lalu ditranskip kedalam teks yang nantinya akan diuji oleh peneliti terkain tindak tutur yang dihasilkan siswa. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdaoat empat jenis tindak tutur yang dilakukan oleh siswa pendidianbahasa Inggris, yaitu asertif, direktif, ekspresif dan komisif, sedangkan tindak tutur deklaratif tidak digunakan oleh siswa. Tindak tutur yang paling sering dilakukan oleh siswa adalah tindak tutur asertif dengan total 7 ucapan, direktif dengan total 9 ucapan, dan komisif dengan total 10 ucapan. Tindak tutur asertif dilakukan untuk mendemonstrasikan materi diskusi oleh penyaji dan digunakan untuk menyampaikan gagasan terhadap kajian diskusi oleh peserta lain. Tindak tutur direktif diproduksi untuk mengajukan pertanyaan, meminta jawaban atas pertanyaan, saran, perintah dan mengajak dalam diskusi.
