Roeping leidt tot een verhoogde motivatie voor het werk en zou daardoor met minder emotionele uitputting kunnen samenhangen. Ook het gerelateerde begrip spiritualiteit zou negatief samenhangen met emotionele uitputting. Roeping zou ook de relatie tussen emotionele belasting en uitputting kunnen modereren.\u0000Bij 235 medewerkers in de geestelijke gezondheidszorg werd dit onderzocht. Spiritualiteit overlapte slechts in geringe mate met roeping. Verder bleek er een positieve samenhang te zijn tussen emotionele belasting en emotionele uitputting en een negatieve samenhang tussen roeping en emotionele uitputting. Roeping verklaarde vier procent van de variantie in emotionele uitputting, maar modereerde de relatie tussen emotionele belasting en emotionele uitputting niet. Een aspect van spiritualiteit, verbondenheid met ‘het zelf’, hing ook negatief samen met emotionele uitputting. Ik had toen niet kunnen bevroeden dat ik ruim twintig jaar later redactievoorzitter van hetzelfde tijdschrift zou worden. In twintig jaar is enorm veel veranderd, maar een ding is in ieder geval hetzelfde gebleven. Bovendien bestaat er onduidelijkheid over de voorspellende waarde en psychometrische kwaliteit van veelgebruikte meetinstrumenten voor creativiteit. In dit artikel scheppen we meer duidelijkheid door eerst een begripsbepaling van creativiteit te geven, waarbij we onderscheid maken tussen het creatieve potentieel en creatieve werkprestaties. Vervolgens bieden we een overzicht van veelgebruikte meetinstrumenten voor het creatieve potentieel en toetsen we deze instrumenten aan criteria waar creativiteitsinstrumenten voor selectiedoeleinden aan moeten voldoen. Omdat veelgebruikte meetinstrumenten van het creatieve potentieel tekortkomingen hebben en creatieve werkprestaties in beperkte mate voorspellen, raden we organisaties vooralsnog af om bij selectieprocedures gebruik te maken van testen en vragenlijsten van het creatief potentieel. At the core of dual process theory are two processes or distinct ways to process information, namely intuitive/reflexive processes (i.e., Type 1 processes) and more thoughtful/reactive processes (i.e., Type 2 processes) that drive decision-making situations (also interview decisions). Both processes can be active simultaneously and affect bias in interview outcomes. Study results showed that bias occurred early in the job interview. The initial impressions that interviewers form of applicants during the rapport-building stage of the job interview affected the interviewers' decision when applicants were stigmatized. The professionalism of the interviewer towards the stigmatized applicant was found to increase the interviewer's confidence in his/her interview capacities and (biased) judgment. This paper presents the general findings and rationale of a dissertation on fairness perceptions of video resumes vis-a-vis paper resumes. Potential hiring discrimination was also considered. Applicant perceptions of video resumes compared to paper resumes were influenced by applicant characteristics, like ethnic background, language proficiency and educational level/GMA. Extraverted applicants experienced more opportunity to perform in video resumes compared to introverted applicants. Recruiter perceptions of video resumes were more negative compared to paper resumes. Despite discriminatory concerns, video resumes did not necessarily lead to hiring discrimination. Reported human capital in paper resumes, such as extracurricular activities, partly explained the existing differential job access among ethnic groups.
