It is not a single disease entity but a syndrome with many causes including mixture of genetic, nutritional and sociological factors. The World Health Organization considers obesity as “Insidious, creeping pandemic which is now engulfing the entire world”. There are eight body personality in Ayurveda, Sthaulya is one of them which deserves special attention. It is result of surfeit, when individual gorges on rich, sweet, cold fatty food, enjoys sleeping during day, refrains from mental work and suffers from genetic disorder. The patient with Sthaulya is continually ill and need to be managed. Therefore, diet and life style play a significant role both in development and control of obesity Sthaulya(obesity). In Ayurveda,Acharyas have mentioned about the use of Lekhaniya Vasti to manage the Sthaulya. Objective: To compare the efficacy of LekhaniyaKashayaVasti and Lekhniya GhanVati in patients of Sthaulya. Material and Methods:A total of 80 patients of Sthaulya were registered. Further they were divided into 2 groups each having 40 patients. In group I [LekhaniyaKashayaVasti] out of 40 patients 34 and in group II[LekhaniyaGhanVati] out of 40 patients 35 completed the follow up. Result: In Group I, mean change was observed in Body Mass Index (B.M.I.) [p<0.05]. Waist Hip Ratio (W.H.R.) It is characterized by hyper-androgenism and chronic anovulation. As PCOS is associated with hyperinsulinemia it has major metabolic as well as reproductive morbidities. Promisingly lifestyle intervention comprising dietary, exercise and behavioural therapy improve fertility and reduce cost per birth significantly. PCOS is an upcoming problem in gynaecology OPD. The first step done in general practice in OPD’s when a patient of PCOS comes is to advise weight reduction. Weight reduction in obese patient is the initial recommendation because it reduces insulin, SHBG and androgen levels and may restore ovulation. The treatment modalities aim at providing comprehensive care by correcting the ama dosha (insulin levels), achieving Koshta Shuddhi and regulating Tridoshas , by this the menstruation is regularized and fertility is restored. also kapha reducing, insulin enhancing & hormone rebalancing, drugs help to relieve the symptoms PCOS. Rajesh","doi":"10.47223/IRJAY.2021.4509","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.47223/IRJAY.2021.4509","url":null,"abstract":": Introduction: and methods: A clinical study on 30 Sannipatika pandu patients, each the (Pallor of the skin), Durvalata (Weakness), Sadana (Fatigue), Angamarda (Body ache), Jwara (Fever), Swasa (Dyspnoea), Aruchi (Anorexia), Gourava (Heaviness), Chhardi (Vomiting), Mala - Mutra and Netraswetata (pale colouration of urine, stool and eye) and Objective parameters as CBC, ESR Sickling test (24 hours method) and Hb Electrophoresis were selected for clinical study. Group-A patients were treated with Herbo-Mineral Compound (500mg) and Group - B patients with Guduchi Satwa (500 mg) twice daily in empty stomach with honey orally for 30 days respectively. The patients were assessed at 10 days interval up to 30 days in order to find the efficacy of both the trial drugs. The subjective and objective parameters were analysed statistically by Wilcoxon-W test and p-value. Observation and result: There were 65.15% and 40.85% of improvement in signs and symptoms and 25% & 17.65% of increase in the level of Hb gm% in the patients of Group-A and Group-B were observed in this study respectively. The Statistically significant (P<0.05) result was revealed in both Group-A and Group-B but improvement was noticed more in Group-A. Conclusion: - The overall study revealed that the trial on Herbo-Mineral Compound i.e., Group-A showed more efficacy than Guduchi satwa i.e, Group-B. The composition of Herbo-Mineral Compound helped more to develop the body immunity as well as maintain the haematological parameters rather than single Guduchi satwa . Dhumapana is a procedure which is used as a preventive measure as well as promotive and curative method. It prevents vitiated vata and Kapha generated Urdhva jatrugata vyadhi (heaviness of head, headache, rhinitis, pain in eyes, ear, cough etc.). Vitiated kapha situated in the head is eliminated very fast by dhumapana. So, after application of collyrium smoking is prescribed. Inhalation of dhuma (smoke) from the dhumavarti(medicated cigar) which is made up of using different herbal drugs by placing it in dhumanetra, an instrument used for smoking. Dhumpana works as both shamana and shodhana therapy for vitiated dosha. The detailed description about the concept of dhumpana as mentioned in Ayurveda is elaborated in this article.
