This essay proposes to contribute to the emerging historiography on agents and co-agents. It further suggests ways of articulating a historical perspective with economic and sociological approaches, drawing on the notions of sociabilite, lieux and milieux (places and milieus) as envisaged by French historians Michel Trebitsch and Christophe Prochasson, and engaging in the perspective of intellectual history, in which Anne Ollivier-Mellios’s work was grounded.","PeriodicalId":43827,"journal":{"name":"REVUE FRANCAISE D ETUDES AMERICAINES","volume":"1 1","pages":"74-87"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83576202","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"社会学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Robert Gordon Wasson et Valentina Wasson racontent comment ils ont fait usage du champignon dans un village indigene, un recit qui intensifie le tourisme de la drogue au Mexique de meme que les ventes par correspondance de peyotl, une substance psychedelique aux effets similaires. Pour le couple, le champignon magique procure une experience transcendante qui n’est autre que le fondement pre-moderne de la religion globale. Rejetee par les universitaires, cette theorie suscite un tres vif interet aupres des journalistes et du grand public. Pour faire connaitre sa decouverte, R. Gordon Wasson mene une campagne comprenant des tournees de conferences, des expositions museales et de nombreux entretiens avec des journalistes. Cet article s’appuie sur les archives du couple, conservees a la Harvard University Herbaria, pour comprendre comment leur initiative a contribue a la proliferation de theories idiosyncratiques sur l’experience des drogues psychedeliques.","PeriodicalId":43827,"journal":{"name":"REVUE FRANCAISE D ETUDES AMERICAINES","volume":"84 1","pages":"91-104"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83839866","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"社会学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

L’hypothese principale est que la reponse a cette question est a chercher aupres d’un theme essentiel qui parcourt l’œuvre entiere de l’ecrivain, a savoir son rapport a la conscience. Pour ce faire, cet article se refere principalement a This Is Water, texte fondateur dans lequel Wallace fournit un condense de son rapport a la question de la conscience et qui devient la pierre angulaire de l’analyse de ce theme dans l’œuvre entiere. La methode d’investigation retenue propose un examen individuel des divers aspects de la conscience tels qu’ils sont enonces comme postulats theoriques dans This Is Water, puis par une illustration au travers d’exemples paradigmatiques issus de la production fictionnelle de l’auteur, plus precisement les quatre textes correspondant a sa periode de maturite.","PeriodicalId":43827,"journal":{"name":"REVUE FRANCAISE D ETUDES AMERICAINES","volume":"43 1","pages":"185-198"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73567689","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"社会学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sansay, in this little studied novel, uses the conventions of seduction novel and pastoral landscape around Philadelphia to question the validity of the social and physical boundaries that define a set of tensions between the human body and the natural world, and, finally, to question the possibility even for the young women of the nascent Republic to participate in the collective quest for happiness.","PeriodicalId":43827,"journal":{"name":"REVUE FRANCAISE D ETUDES AMERICAINES","volume":"56 1","pages":"104-116"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73530835","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"社会学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
