One hind limb skeleton of a hairy-nosed wombat is used for the morphometry and morphological description of this study. The pelvic bone is 17 cm long and 14 cm wide. The wings of the ilium are parallel to the median plane. The gluteal surface is divided by a ridge into dorsal and lateral parts. The iliac crest is straight. The caput femoris is lower than the trochanter major. The fovea capitis is very shallow and the third tro-chanter is feeble. The tibia and fibula were two individual bones separated by an interosseous space. There were six ossi tarsi and the pedis was complete with five digits, the hallux (first digit) of which is reduced. The rest four digits each with three phalanges. The distal phalanges were protected with long arched claws. The results were discussed with its relevant in other domestic and wild animals and were supported by six figures. The study also aimed to give morphometric data about the length and width of the canine collateral femorotibial ligaments and to demonstrate whether or not there were sex differences in these dimensions. Animals: Eight male and four female dogs were used in the study. Procedures: Radiography and careful dissection were performed to document the gross morphology of the fibrous components of the femorotibial articulation. With the use of SEM, the collateral femorotibial ligaments and the synovial membrane of the studied joint were also carried out. Results: The study revealed the gross features of the fibrous elements of the femorotibial articulation in adult dogs. SEM also emphasized the morphologic characteristics of the collateral femorotibial ligaments and the synovial membrane of this joint. Conclusions: Alterations in any structural element of the femorotibial articulation would contribute significantly to dysfunction of the entire stifle joint which is manifested by pain and trou-bles in the pelvic limb movement. and dog owners in order to properly diagnose and treat any joint injury. The sample size was 20 Kacang goat skulls, consists of 10 female and 10 male goats. Measurements were taken on skull length (SL), width of the zygomatic process of frontal bone (WZF), width of the frontal process of zygomatic bone (WFZ), the length of the caudal of the orbit rim (LCRO) and the greatest distance (width) of the aditus orbitae (OW). The Data was analyzed using two ways, quantitatively and qualitatively. The quantitatively done to analyze the correlation between variables and the possi-ble differences among variables of different sexes. The results showed that WZF, WFZ and OW variables were positively correlated with skull length (SL) (p<0.05), except the length of caudal rim of the orbit (LCRO). ZF and Orbital width were significant between sexes (p<0.05), furthermore both of WFZ and LCRO, similarly in size (ZF) and orbital (OW) width, those were could be used for estimating of sexual dimorphism (p<0.05). The aditus orbitae shape show significant sexual dimorphism, wherein in female are ellipsoid and larger while in male rectangular and relatively smaller. The present study concludes that by quantitative combining with qualitative techniques could be used for identify-ing the sexes estimation of aditus orbitae of Kacang goat.","PeriodicalId":437076,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Veterinary Anatomy","volume":"183 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131402738","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The bird is characterized by the presence of large process above its head called casque. The casque possesses brownish color and measures 13 cm high and 13.5 cm width at the casque base and 5 cm thick (in the cross section). The rostral border is thick, rounded and curved backward to meet the caudal border, which is also rounded and nearly straight. X-ray image shows that the inner structure of the casque is formed of irregularly arranged, sparse thin trabeculae, looks like a sponge with the naked eye. Trabeculae are densely packed and adheres to the outer layer of the casque except in its most upper caudal part, which is less densely packed. The spaces between the bony trabeculae were not occupied by any liquid or solidified material and contains only those visible filaments. Surrounding the internal mass of trabecular fibers is a bony shell composed of denser bone, the external surface of which is marked with foramina and shallow, dorsoventrally aligned, divaricating canals for the reception of blood vessels and nerves. Histological examination confirmed the X-ray image findings.","PeriodicalId":437076,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Veterinary Anatomy","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130311247","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study was conducted by direct observation of ten (10) adult African striped ground squirrels comprising of five males and five females. The main morphological features were: a) a large club-shaped, non-pendulous olfactory bulb projecting from the cerebral hemispheres ventro-rostrally; b) cerebral hemisphere devoid of sulci and gyri; c) a well-developed corpus callosum connecting the cerebral hemisphere; and d.) a fornix which appeared as an arch shaped commissural fiber, consisting of a crus, a body and a commissure. Morphometric data values indicated that the males had statistically significant higher body and brain weights than the females. There was no significant statistical difference between sex in the mean values of the olfactory bulbs and cerebral hemispheres weight and dimensions (length and width). A significant statistical difference between sexes was reported with respect to the weight of the olfactory bulb (0.46 ± 0.03g in males and 0.32 ± 0.01g in females) and cerebral hemispheres width (1.87 ± 0.03cm in males and 1.79 ± 0.01cm in females). The well-developed corpus callosum and fornix, a very crucial organ in the function of formation and consolidation of memory, and the large size of the olfactory bulb, an organ for olfactory acuity supports the use of this rodent model for precise radio-tracking and identification of location.","PeriodicalId":437076,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Veterinary Anatomy","volume":"212 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117314388","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
