However, criticisms have been raised regarding the limited tangible impact compared to the amount of assistance provided. Hence, there is a growing emphasis on managing ODA outcomes based on the policy validity and sustainability of aid projects and on the importance of project evaluations from the recipient country's perspective. In this study, drawing on prior research, we conceptualized aid quality through sub-factors such as service quality, delivery quality, expectation levels, and social responsibility. We analyzed their effects on aid satisfaction using a structural model. Notably, we incorporated experience in the relevant field and country-specific collaboration experiences as moderating variables to validate the maturity of the aid system. Our findings suggest that social responsibility and expectation levels positively influence aid satisfaction. Conversely, experience in the relevant field and collaboration experience in specific countries showed significant impact only in certain paths. These results indicate the necessity of meeting expectation levels and fulfilling social responsibilities to enhance aid satisfaction. Furthermore, there's a demand for a sustainable management system that elucidates the causal relationships between aid environment and influencing factors and evaluates outcomes from the beneficiary country's viewpoint.","PeriodicalId":436415,"journal":{"name":"Korean Production and Operations Management Society","volume":"31 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139206125","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The EU plans to apply the CSDDD to all companies trading in the EU region while legislating the directive on sustainable supply chain management based on due diligence for human rights, environment, employment, etc. This implies the paradigm shift of emphasizing on supply chain transparency including legal binding and obligations, rather than voluntary corporate activities. Even though the Korean firms also need to thoroughly prepare for managerial ways to respond to the CSDDD, their response level is low and that of SMEs (Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) is even more insufficient. Thus, we suggest the guidelines combining ISO management system with the due diligence areas of the CSDDD, and propose strategic roadmap which can be used as a reference for preparing for the CSDDD.","PeriodicalId":436415,"journal":{"name":"Korean Production and Operations Management Society","volume":" 39","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139197696","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To derive the optimal solution, the parametric algorithms are considered, and the efficiency of the algorithms is investigated computationally. Unlike traditional parametric algorithms such as Newton's method, which create a unidirectional sequence approaching the optimal function value, our proposed algorithm generates both upper and lower bounds converging to this value. To demonstrate its effectiveness across various production and operations management problems, the suggested algorithms are used to solve the fractional knapsack problem by comparison to other algorithms (e.g., Newton’s method) under the randomized experimental conditions. The relative practical performance measured by the number of function calls demonstrates that the proposed algorithms are fast and robust for solving the linear fractional programs with discrete variables. Leveraging this algorithm holds the potential to overcome situations in traditional production and operations problems where non-fractional objective functions were previously unconsidered, thereby expecting to derive new outcomes and significance.","PeriodicalId":436415,"journal":{"name":"Korean Production and Operations Management Society","volume":"152 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139203802","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is essential for the supply chain to choose and implement a response strategy that fits the characteristics of the risk. In particular, it is necessary to use appropriate response strategies according to the period of failure. Based on literature research, this study presented hypotheses on the effectiveness of the response strategy on the failure period and tested the hypotheses using simulation and regression analysis. As for the response strategy, we investigated surplus inventory strategy, multiple sourcing strategy, and contingent rerouting strategy. As a result, the longer the failure period of the supply chain, the lower the effect of the surplus inventory strategy, while the effect of the multiple sourcing strategy increased. The contingent rerouting strategy showed a lower effect than non-response when the failure period was short, but when the failure period was long, it showed the best effect among the three strategies. Furthermore, the effect of the surplus inventory strategy further decreased as the demand increased sharply, and the effect of the multiple sourcing strategy further increased. The contingent rerouting strategy has seen a dramatic increase in response effects as the failure period increases when market demand increases sharply.","PeriodicalId":436415,"journal":{"name":"Korean Production and Operations Management Society","volume":"28 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139201382","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, in the case of international e-commerce volume from China, it is necessary to attract volume that can be converted into Sea&Air complex transportation around Incheon Port, which departs from major airports in China, transshipment from Incheon Airport, and exports to North America and Europe.Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the factors of transshipment port selection to revitalize the attraction of CBEC Sea & Air complex transport cargo. Accordingly, AHP analysis by academic and industrial expert surveys showed that cargo creation capacity (0.287), port infrastructure (0.257), service (0.230), and Sea&Air transshipment cost (0.227) were identified as high net importance (0.227), Sea&Air throughput (0.115), and e-commerce (0.106). In addition, in the evaluation of the attractiveness of three ports in the West Sea region, including Incheon Port, Incheon Port (3.084), Pyeongtaek Port (2.353), and Gunsan Port (1.840) were derived in the order, In particular, Incheon Port should promote CBEC Sea&Air based on its differentiated competitiveness compared to Pyeongtaek Port and Gunsan Port in terms of Sea&Air transshipment costs and cargo creation capabilities.","PeriodicalId":436415,"journal":{"name":"Korean Production and Operations Management Society","volume":"27 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126006194","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using the event study methodology, we estimate the abnormal returns of manufacturing companies in South Korea directly related to Japan’s export restrictions. Our findings reveal that the exclusion of South Korea from a Japanese Whitelist had a negative effect on the stock prices of manufacturing companies in South Korea. The cumulative abnormal return (CAR) of Korean manufacturing companies was -6.26%, and 86.64% of 232 sample companies experienced a negative CAR. The study also confirms that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are more vulnerable to geopolitical risks than large companies. This study provides practical implications for firm managers and policymakers as the first study that provides empirical evidence of the stock market reaction to the South Korea-Japan trade dispute.","PeriodicalId":436415,"journal":{"name":"Korean Production and Operations Management Society","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133494954","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The event was defined as overdue equivalent to default, and the survival period was calculated. Based on the year of innovation certification, the work experience, number of employees, financial status, and composition by industry of innovation certified SMEs were set as control variables. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that there was a significant difference in the survival period depending on the type of innovation certification even when the control variables were considered. Inno-biz certified companies and main-biz certified companies had a 31.2% and 29.3% reduction in overdue risk, respectively, compared to venture certified companies. Therefore, it is necessary to differentiate innovation certification benefits by considering the life cycle of a company. In addition, it was concluded that there is a need to strengthen the connection between certifications, such as providing additional benefits when converting innovation certification.","PeriodicalId":436415,"journal":{"name":"Korean Production and Operations Management Society","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121353482","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moreover, we employed a two-stage bootstrapped truncated regression to identify the internal factors affecting the operating efficiencies of educational publishers. According to the DEA results, the technical efficiency (TE) of educational publishers has continued to decline over the past four years, and the average TE has decreased mainly due to scale inefficiency after the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020. In addition, payment fees, rental fees, and transportation costs as strategic operating variables of educational publishers have a statistically significant effect on their efficiency. This study provides practical implications for improving the efficiency and promoting sustainable growth of publishers.","PeriodicalId":436415,"journal":{"name":"Korean Production and Operations Management Society","volume":"200 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125733220","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A significant increase in online and mobile sales has been reported based on secondary data, but few studies have focused on the psychological and cognitive factors that systematically affect consumers’ behavioral intention of shopping online. This study explores specifically the effects of the perceived severity of and vulnerability to COVID-19 on consumers’ intention to use online or mobile shopping. We also included consumers’ propensity for self-isolation as a mediator and subjective norm as a control factor for their intention to shop remotely. The data were collected through an online consumer survey and analyzed using structural equation modeling. The results indicate that perceived severity significantly affects propensity for self-isolation but does not directly affect online shopping intention. Additionally, the effect of perceived severity on intention to shop online is mediated by propensity for self-isolation. In contrast, perceived vulnerability negatively affects propensity for self-isolation and remote shopping intention, implying that not all the consumers are willing to shop online even under the threat of COVID-19.","PeriodicalId":436415,"journal":{"name":"Korean Production and Operations Management Society","volume":"157 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123257163","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The appropriate level of care may make it hard to maximize the hospital’s utility. This study solves this problem by discovering a wing formation that maximizes the utility when the level of care is appropriate. Consequently, this study demonstrates that the appropriate level of care is different from the level which maximizes the hospital's utility. Specifically, as the wings are segmented, the overtreatment occurs in most care types. The value of maximum total utility is lower when the levels of all types of care are appropriate, compared to when the wings are formed to simply maximize the hospital’s utility. In addition, when the appropriate level of services is provided, the deviation of the hospital’s utility is high depending on the wing formations. Thus, when the appropriate level of care is provided, the hospital managers should identify an optimal wing formation while maximizing the utility. This study can provide a clue for solving such decision-making problems of hospital managers.","PeriodicalId":436415,"journal":{"name":"Korean Production and Operations Management Society","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115426404","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
