Maintenance is very expensive, therefore an effective maintenance strategies and optimal maintenance schedule are required to reduce the overall maintenance budget cost without reducing the maintenance itself and neglecting the serviceability level of the equipment's/machines. This study will investigate state-of-art the of preventive maintenance scheduling algorithm and provide an optimal schedule for the maintenance activities that aims to minimize the overall maintenance cost and optimize make span of preventive maintenance activities. This case study takes few examples of countries that applied preventive maintenance scheduling in railway. This paper will discuss four types of scheduling techniques which are used in solving preventive maintenance scheduling problem.","PeriodicalId":435030,"journal":{"name":"2012 Fourth International Conference on Computational Intelligence, Modelling and Simulation","volume":"88 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-09-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122934180","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For MANET, possessing highly limited resources, Symmetric key algorithms are more efficient and viable as compared to asymmetric key algorithms while transmitting messages via network due to less power consumption. Due to technological advancement MANET is getting more and more accessible to common man, but the most alarming challenge that MANET is facing is the security issue. In this paper we introduce an enhanced approach of selective encryption algorithm for achieving better data protection. First we are giving an overview of selective encryption algorithm, and proposing an enhanced selective encryption algorithm based on symmetric key. By implementing the proposed method, the process of message encryption can be made more uncertain and overhead may be reduced, thereby making the encryption procedure more efficient. We will carry out a set of simulation experiments on ns2 simulator in future to validate our proposed method.","PeriodicalId":435030,"journal":{"name":"2012 Fourth International Conference on Computational Intelligence, Modelling and Simulation","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-09-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123475698","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This can be the case when images have been acquired using the same imaging modality, for example, in magnetic resonance imaging and also when using various histology and staining processes. We propose the application of an intensity-invariant dense feature extraction method through the use of phase Fourier transforms. The approach allows medical images containing intensity in homogeneities to be aligned and warped as part of a feature-based registration technique. Registration performance was evaluated on mono-modality and multi-modality data, namely magnetic resonance and histology images. Qualitative and quantitative validation was conducted with respect to two established image intensity correction methods.","PeriodicalId":435030,"journal":{"name":"2012 Fourth International Conference on Computational Intelligence, Modelling and Simulation","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-09-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117016466","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore the primary objective in this work is to generate a fetal heart signal which reproduces all information required for analysis, while mitigating the noise effects. For this an Eigen filter based subspace separation technique is used for noise reduction in the sensor measurements, and an adaptive signal processing method based on the Wiener filter is used for fetal signal separation. The measured maternal abdomen signal contains various interfering signals in addition to the desired fetal signal. Among these interfering signals the most significant component is the maternal heart signal which is super imposed on the fetal heart signal. This obstacle was overcome in this research using a supervised adaptive signal processing method which utilizes a reference maternal heart signal measured from the mother's chest. The subspace separation technique we introduce in this work was applied prior to this to remove other external noises which corrupted the measurement signals. Furthermore, the noise reduction capability between the proposed subspace separation technique and standard IIR and FIR filters based methods used in practice were compared for various noise levels. This noise reduction enabled the Wiener filter to reduce the modeling mismatch, thereby improving the quality of the extracted signal as shown in the results of our work.","PeriodicalId":435030,"journal":{"name":"2012 Fourth International Conference on Computational Intelligence, Modelling and Simulation","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-09-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125017329","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
