Crucial in their understanding is the correct identification of the iconography. At Barm-i Dilak I a man presents a flower to a woman. The identification of the flower is, however, still debated. It is now identified as the flower of an iris, possibly the Iris persicus. Barm-i Dilak II represents Bahram II and a dignitary flanking a rock fissure. Erdmann suggested in 1950 the presence of a sculpted fire altar between the two men. This theory, still repeated in recent literature, is evaluated. There is no fire altar on the Barm-i Dilak relief.","PeriodicalId":43366,"journal":{"name":"Iranica Antiqua","volume":"45 1","pages":"337-352"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.2143/IA.45.0.2047125","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68057394","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This region is known in archaeological literature as «Pusht-i Kuh». Several tombs were discovered. The oldest material belongs to the initial phase of the Early Bronze Age. The majority, however, can be attributed to the Iron Age, more particularly to phases IA and IIB in the chronology established by the Belgian Archaeological Mission in Pusht-i Kuh. Girshman during the winter 1966-67. They originate from four different layers, spanning about 450 years. Most of them are lentils and all of them are the leftovers of elementary scribal education, discarded and found under the floors of houses or in the street. They bear witness to the formation of scribes during this whole period and, in particular, to the use of the well known Silbenalphabet A during most of this period. These tablets had been published formerly in transcription only but new photographs as well as a better understanding of their dating warrants a revised re-publication with copies and photos.","PeriodicalId":43366,"journal":{"name":"Iranica Antiqua","volume":"45 1","pages":"225-257"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.2143/IA.45.0.2047120","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68056174","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In 2005 he excavated two architectural stages (Iron Age II and Iron Age III). Period I (=Iron Age III) is divided into two phases (Ia and Ib). Period II (=Iron Age II) has not been the subject so far of excavations. Boulder/cobble and brick floors made with rows of brick and concentric circles of small cobbles were discovered. A large amount of remains were found during these excavations and include painted and glazed decorative bricks, pottery vessels and clay doornails. Preliminary observations, suggest a date of the 8 th and 7 th centuries B.C. for Rabat Tepe.","PeriodicalId":43366,"journal":{"name":"Iranica Antiqua","volume":"44 1","pages":"113-129"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.2143/IA.44.0.2034377","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68056108","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
