Despite decades of research and professional scrutiny, strategy implementation remains daunting in strategic management. The research is paramount to small hotels, especially in a rapidly changing and pandemic-stricken environment and the broader tourism sector. It equips managers in the hospitality and tourism sectors with insights to navigate implementation challenges and adopt innovative methods to bridge the gap between strategy formulation and its successful execution. The research findings, aimed at enhancing decision-making, productivity, and competitive edge, will benefit various stakeholders, including organizational managers, academic scholars, policymakers, regulators, and the general public. These findings will be disseminated through academic and professional channels to serve the public interest and contribute substantially to existing knowledge. Notably, while this study provides valuable insights, it does present limitations, mainly its focus on top management and its restricted observational scope due to the pandemic. Future research might consider broadening the participant pool and studying larger hotels across different regions to enhance generalizability.","PeriodicalId":433532,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Economics, Business and Accounting","volume":"11 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134907557","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While this trend presents excellent potential, it is marred by significant concerns over the safety of data stored in the cloud. As the demand for cloud computing increases, businesses face issues ranging from data breaches and provider security to service availability and regulatory compliance. It becomes crucial for organizations to enact stringent security protocols not only to protect user information but also to smoothen operational processes, enforce regulatory compliance, and delineate user behavior norms. To fortify cloud assets, businesses must adhere to foundational security guidelines covering confidentiality, risk analysis, e-discovery, business resilience, and third-party contract obligations. Therefore, while the cloud's advantages are manifold, they have intricate challenges. Businesses must prioritize impenetrable security, craft meticulous risk strategies, and fortify against potential threats to harness the full potential of cloud services while preserving their assets and reputation. These results show that most respondents have a confidence level of 7, indicating a relatively high level of trust in the current cloud security measures. Organizations must continuously assess and adapt their cloud security strategies to keep up with the dynamic digital environment and evolving threats for long-term security and operational efficacy.","PeriodicalId":433532,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Economics, Business and Accounting","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135219260","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"Debt Financing and Operational Efficiency of Companies listed at Nairobi Stock Exchange, Kenya","authors":"Joseph Kimathi James, Patricia Gachambi Mwangi, Henry Kimathi Mukaria","doi":"10.9734/ajeba/2023/v23i221132","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.9734/ajeba/2023/v23i221132","url":null,"abstract":"Background: As companies evolve, they confront a myriad of challenges, opportunities, and risks, demanding a laser focus on financial strategies. Within this landscape, the intertwined concepts of debt financing and operational efficiency emerge as critical determinants of a firm's performance and longevity. Debt financing sources presents an intricate landscape in which companies make their financial decisions. However, the existing literature often treats debt financing as a homogenous entity, lacking the granularity required to discern how the specific composition of debt, including the reliance on trade credit versus traditional short-term and long-term bank borrowings, might influence operational efficiency. Thus, this study aimed at identifying the effect of debt financing composition on operational efficiency of companies listed in NSE. Methods: The research focused on examining the link between debt financing structures and operational efficiency in 50 firms listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE). The study collected panel data ranging between 2015 and 2022. A positivist research philosophy was employed, utilizing quantitative analysis techniques, specifically descriptive statistical analysis and random effects regression model. Findings: The regression results of the random effects model reveal the relationship between debt financing constructs and operational efficiency. The overall R-squared value for the model is 0.176, suggesting that around 17.6% of the variation in operational efficiency can be explained by the debt financing sub-variables. Furthermore, the model’s goodness of fit is assessed through the Wald chi-square test (χ² =72.61, p = 0.000), confirming its statistical significance. The coefficient for the independent variables trade credit, short-term borrowings, and long-term borrowings are (β = 0.331, p = 0.002), (β = 0.642, p = 0.001), and (β = 0.349, p = 0.001), respectively. The p-values are less than 0.05, indicating that the effects of trade credit, short-term borrowings, and long-term borrowings on the operational efficiency of firms listed at the NSE are statistically significant at the 5% level. Conclusion and Implications: The study concludes that debt financing comprising of trade credit, short-term borrowing and long-term borrowing have beneficial effects on operational efficiency. While all three sub-variables of debt financing contribute to enhanced operational efficiency, their application in corporate financing practices varies, with long-term borrowing being a common choice for funding total assets. In light of these findings, company managers should recognize debt financing as a strategic tool for improving operational efficiency. This recognition should be accompanied by a careful and thoughtful approach to utilizing the three components of debt: trade credit, short-term borrowing, and long-term borrowing.","PeriodicalId":433532,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Economics, Business and Accounting","volume":"26 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135217668","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the present day scenario voluntary attrition is termed as the great resignation [1] in the Information Technology (IT) sector, this great attrition has continued since 2020 and is predicted to continue till 2025 so employee retention has become a challenging task for IT sectors to retain their best talents. Every organisation to gain competitive advantage should follow the best retention strategies. At the end of the Year 2022, software industries recorded an average of 20 to 25% [2] attrition rate which is the highest record that the IT sector has ever seen in the past 10 years and now in the year 2023 it is 17-18% on average in June quarter and is even predicted to continue in the recession period in top IT industries called Brain drain, so tracking the great talent exodus in IT sector has become a critical and ongoing challenge for the IT industries. This paper empirically reviews the various available reviews of literature and research work already done and this paper also reveals that in addition to monetary benefits there are many other retention strategies to retain the best talents. This paper also studies the perception of employees on employee retention strategies and the relationship between demographic factors like gender, age and experience towards employee retention strategies. The data was collected from 100 employees by convenience sampling procedure and the statistical tools like percentage, mean, regression analysis and ANOVA techniques have been used for data analysis. It has been observed that there is a significant difference between the age of employees and intention to stay and there is a significant impact of retention strategies on the intention of the employee to stay back in the organisation. Each employee is unique in terms of their perception towards employee retention strategies. A strong employee value proposition (EVP) can act as the best retention mantra.","PeriodicalId":433532,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Economics, Business and Accounting","volume":"32 6","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135219077","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Maintaining optimal indoor temperatures relative to outdoor temperatures determines a building's HVAC demand and, thus, energy consumption. We want to determine how outdoor temperature and other factors determine this consumption. With increasing urbanization and energy demand, it is important to understand building energy consumption, especially in terms of its impact on the environment. Previous research has shown the link between electricity consumption and external environmental factors and highlighted energy optimization's importance in urban structures. As cities become large energy consumers, studies point to the need to understand energy use patterns on a regional and temporal scale.
 For accurate energy forecasts, data becomes the linchpin. Time series—data points arranged in chronological intervals—are foundational in predictive modeling. Due to buildings' intricate electricity consumption patterns, traditional linear forecasting often falls short. Enter nonlinear regression models: These complex models are apt for mapping and predicting nonlinear data trends. Notwithstanding their advantages, they come with challenges, primarily the high-frequency data influx from smart meters and IoT devices. But their potential benefits - from cost savings to efficient energy management - are significant. In a world caught between urban expansion and ecological preservation, efficient energy management is crucial. Accurate energy forecasting, especially for buildings, combines technological advances, statistical acumen and environmental imperatives. Understanding building energy consumption using sophisticated nonlinear regression models is evolving from an academic goal to a global necessity.","PeriodicalId":433532,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Economics, Business and Accounting","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135617165","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The youths are the present and future of any nation since they have crucial implications for future economic growth, development, and stability. As such, if youth unemployment is overlooked, it has the potential to have significant and serious social repercussions. However, unemployment among the youth is rampant across the world. This study aimed at examining how the Public Service Internship Policy (PSIP) affected young people's employment. This study was guided by specific objective which was to investigate the impact of career orientation on youth employability in Marsabit County. The researcher used a descriptive research design to assess the influence of PSIP on employability. The target population of the study was 1,439 interns who benefited from the government-sponsored internship programs and were posted in various state departments, agencies, and ministries in 2021. A sufficient sample for the research was selected using random and stratified sampling methods. Using Slovin's formulas, the sample size for the study was established. A structured questionnaire was used to gather the data, which assisted to gather both qualitative and quantitative information. The data was analyzed using SPSS. Data analysis used descriptive statistics like the mean and standard deviation. The study further analyzed the relationship between the predictor and predicted variables using inferential statistics. Pearson correlation and regression model was adopted to test the significance of the study variables. The researcher followed all the ethical considerations during the process of conducting the study. The research revealed significant and positive connections between various factors and the employability of young individuals. Specifically, it found a substantial and favorable correlation between having a career orientation and youth employability (correlation coefficient, r = 0.338, p = 0.002). The study concluded that factors such as career orientation exert a positive influence on youth employability. Therefore, it is recommended that the Kenyan government collaborates with educational institutions and parents to ensure that young people receive comprehensive career guidance and counseling, make professional accreditation accessible to all, provide quality education in all educational institutions, and ensure that all learners have access to appropriate mentorship throughout their educational journey.","PeriodicalId":433532,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Economics, Business and Accounting","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135617482","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
