In this method, all Li-Ion cells are charged by the constant current; after the cells reached the pre-defined charge cell voltage, the constant voltage period begins and lasts until the cells' current drawing is under the current level specified in the datasheet. Nowadays, a battery management system (BMS) controls this charging method for Li-Ion cells. In addition to this, BMS ensures that all Li-Ion cells in the battery pack work in a safe operating area. However, in an energy storage system (ESS), the DC bus bar system is used because there may be different current sources such as solar, wind, etc. As a result of this, there will be a continuous current flow over this DC bus system. Therefore, it will be possible to charge the Li-Ion cells with a value below the charge termination current or with zero charge termination current. In this paper, the effect of applying different charge termination currents to the Li-Ion cells on state of health (SOH) is investigated. We present results about how effect the changes both in charge voltages and charge termination current the life of the cell. As a result of this research, it is aimed to prepare a document that can be used by researchers who want to find information on this subject by presenting the data on the SoH with visuals and graphics.","PeriodicalId":433404,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 7th World Congress on Electrical Engineering and Computer Systems and Science","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114648985","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this talk, I will present our group’s efforts towards developing such centimeter scale biological robots that actuated by skeletal muscles cells and our efforts to integrate neural control in these biological machines. These machines are controlled via electrical or optogenetic signals and demonstrated improved healing after a damage when exercised via optical stimulation. We also explore their lifetime and degradation in performance due to breakdown of the matrix that contains the cells. We will also present an approach to form functional in vitro neural tissue mimic (NTM) of different shapes using stem cells, a fibrin matrix, and 3D printed molds. We used murine-derived embryonic stem cells for optimizing cell-seeding protocols, characterization of the resulting internal structure of the construct, and remodeling of the extracellular matrix, as well as validation of electrophysiological activity. We also characterized the effects of optogenetic stimulation during neural differentiation, by showing morphological changes in network formation. These cellular systems present many opportunities in the next decade and beyond with potential applications in drug delivery, power generation, and other biomimetic systems. As these cellular machines increase in capabilities, exhibit emergent behavior, and potentially reveal the ability for self-assembly and self-repair, important questions can also arise about the ethical implications for this direction of research, which are very important to consider and address.","PeriodicalId":433404,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 7th World Congress on Electrical Engineering and Computer Systems and Science","volume":"91 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126757373","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This has inspired researchers to study them using various tools, leading to an established body of knowledge regarding how developers execute their work, communicate, and coordinate the effort. One flavor of open source community, which has received less attention, is hybrid open source, where developers and other stakeholders with various backgrounds exist. In this paper, we perform a sentiment analysis to a hybrid open source community, based on comments given when making commits. The goal is to understand if the community members behave differently, depending on their background in the company that owns the community IPR, being an independent contributor, or representing a collaborating organization. Based on the results, we find that there indeed is a clear difference in the sentiments, with in-house developers having a tendency to be more negative than independent developers, who in contrast express positive sentiments in their commit comments.","PeriodicalId":433404,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 7th World Congress on Electrical Engineering and Computer Systems and Science","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128066919","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The task of forecasting becomes complex when there are spatiotemporal dependencies in the data generating process. Prediction of congestion ahead of time is a very important aspect of transportation system management. Traffic congestion on a road network has a temporal component due to daily and weekly variation in human travel, and also a spatial component due to the connected nature of the road network and traffic flow. Furthermore, the spatial component of traffic congestion is certainly not Euclidean due to directionality of road network, which is not an undirected graph. Congestion prediction falls into the realm of time series data analysis methods which can be mapped onto a neural network-based methods for sequence prediction. In this research we propose Convolutional Long Short Term Memory (CLSTM) which incorporates spatial and temporary information into the forecasting process. To validate the efficiency of the proposed method, the performance is compared with various deep learning architectures of Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU), Long Short Term Memory (LSTM), and baseline methods such as Vector Autoregression (VAR) and historical average. Experiments include the above topologies with varying parameters as number of units per layer, number of layers, optimizers, learning rate and lengths of sequence input. Prediction comparison is demonstrated with tables and graphical representations.","PeriodicalId":433404,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 7th World Congress on Electrical Engineering and Computer Systems and Science","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115472120","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

PHAs constitute a class of functional biomaterials with auspicious properties. To this end, the aim of this study was the production of three biomedically promising PHAs, namely poly-hydroxybutyrate (PHB), poly-hydroxybutyrate-co-valerate (PHBV) and polyhydroxyoctanoate (PHO), followed by the characterization of their mechanical and physical-chemical properties prior to assessing their biological profile with well-established in vitro models. The bacterial cultures and the simultaneous intracellular biopolymer synthesis were performed in a lab-scale bioreactor, employing established fed-batch cultivation protocols [1]. The bacterial strain Pseudomonas putida and Azohydromonas lata were cultivated to acquire PHO and PHB, PHBV, respectively. Subsequently, the mechanical disruption of cell membranes and the extraction of the intercellular biopolymer were performed. In order to tailor the mechanical properties and architecture of the scaffolds, their correlation with the dissolution time, the % w/v polymer/chloroform ratio, and the solvent evaporation technique was studied. Accordingly, the complete characterization of their physical-chemical, molecular, and mechanical properties, applying Scanning Electron Microscopy, Differential Scanning Calorimetry, BET Surface Analysis, Tensile-Compressive Strength testing, Gel Permeation and Gas Chromatography, was performed. Three cell lines, namely 3T3-L1 (mouse pre-adipocytes), SaOs-2 (human bone osteosarcoma) and C2C12 (mouse myoblasts) were examined. All cell lines were seeded in appropriate culture plates coated with the PHAs, tested in terms of biological assays for cell adhesion, toxicity, proliferation, and differentiation and juxtaposed with those seeded in plane Tissue Culture Plastic. Cell adhesion was assessed through monitoring metabolically active cells, while cell viability and proliferation were determined by Sulforhodamine-B toxicity assay. Regarding differentiation, 3T3-L1 cells were differentiated into mature adipocytes according to standard differentiation protocol [2]. Successful adipogenesis was confirmed by Oil-red-O staining. C2C12 were differentiated in the presence of 2% horse serum, until mature myotubes were observed. SaOs-2 cells were induced to differentiate by adding ascorbic acid, refreshing the medium every third day for 27 consecutive days. Successful mineralization was tested by AlizarinRed staining. Polymer recovery techniques were implemented to obtain sufficient amounts of biopolymers with minimum implication at their molecular properties. The mechanical and physicochemical measurements indicated that the produced biomaterials are qualified for tissue engineering applications. The film formation study led to the optimization of the applied protocol, acq","PeriodicalId":433404,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 7th World Congress on Electrical Engineering and Computer Systems and Science","volume":"164 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114340794","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
