Although 800 V vehicles are already on the market, the operating charging stations in Europe that support the 800 V charging level are only 1% of the total. Therefore, the electric vehicles must be intrinsically compatible with 400 V DC charging stations with a marginal increase in the cost and the weight of the drive train components. The solution analyzed in this paper reconfigures the electric motor and the three-phase inverter into a multiphase DC/DC boost converter, adapting the battery voltage to the off-board charger. Two different droop controllers are considered, among these the P-F controller is utilized by DGs of medium voltage grids and the P-V droop controller is used by DGs in low voltage microgrids. The ANN-based intelligent controller can detect the anomaly/cyber threat information from the DSO/Main Control center or from the individual microgrid control center and can switch the DGs to autonomous operating mode using the P-V/P-F droop controllers and thereby supporting the grid at the time of cyber vulnerability and grid instability condition. To ensure the needed safety in operation of the systems, the power supply system must support a fail-operational function. Typical component tests regarding the supply system are simplified and cannot consider the propagation of voltage pulses or drops along the power supply system and faulty system interactions. This paper proposes a new testing approach. The propagation of power supply system faults in a supply network is simulated first, and the time dependent voltage profiles are calculated for each attached component individually. In a second step the voltage profiles gained from simulations are fed by a highly dynamic voltage source to the components and possible interactions are analyzed in this special setup. The new test method is presented and analyzed. In an exemplary automotive system two redundant electronic components are interacting via a CAN interface. It is shown how highly dynamic power supply system faults can lead to unexpected system interactions. As a result, ultra-fast electric vehicle chargers have reached megawatt power ratios for large EVs such as trucks and heavyweight vehicles. Therefore, Modular Multilevel Converters are acquiring popularity in EV charging applications. In this context, this paper proposes a novel EV charger based on a Series-Parallel Modular Multilevel Converter. In this proposal, the proposed converter is regulated to perform medium-voltage low-frequency alternating current conversion to low-voltage medium-frequency alternating current required for ultra-fast charging of electric vehicles. To achieve the aim of the study, the electromagnetic performance of a 24-slots/l0-pole double stator wound-field flux switching machine (DSWFFSM) is studied in finite element analysis (FEA) and compared with a 12-slots/l0-pole double stator DC-excited vernier reluctance machine (DSDCVRM). The static results show rated average torques of 47.7 Nm and 35.6 Nm, and the calculated efficiency are 91.3% and 88.9%, for the DSWFFSM and DSDCVRM, respectively. Generally, asymmetrical configurations allow the extension of the voltage levels number and the implementation of an innovative modulation strategy allows for improving the performance in terms of harmonic distortion and conversion efficiency. This work is devoted to the development of a modulation strategy that allows improving the performance of an asymmetrical single-phase five-level Cascaded H-Bridge Inverter generating a 7-level voltage waveform. Thus, a digital approach and corresponding digital functions are presented. Subsequently, the impact of the dead time and the influence on the voltage harmonic distortion have been discussed. First, the dynamic model is described, focusing on the main parameters involved in the heave motion characterization. Then, its implementation in a Matlab/Simulink® code and the proposed control strategy are presented from both a theoretical and a computational point of view.
