As a result, it was found that the thermal efficiency calculated from LPG fuel consumption and the decomposed toluene, gave a maximum value of 0 . 95 at a raw gas mass flow rate of 1810 kg・h − 1 in a honeycomb height of 1 . 5 m. Furthermore, it was found that a decrease in honeycomb height from 1 . 5 to 0 . 9 m caused insufficient preheating of the raw gas, which resulted in an increase in the concentration of toluene necessary in the raw gas from 340 to 530 ppm to achieve self-combustion of the toluene without additional heating by LPG fuel.","PeriodicalId":432877,"journal":{"name":"Journal of The Japan Society of Material Cycles and Waste Management","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115824452","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cl − dissolved in leachate is discharged to public water, which has an impact on agriculture and marine resources. Therefore, concentrate and dry salt (hereafter referred to as by-product salt) are generated by desalting treatment fa-cilities. This study was conducted on the possibility of recycling by-product salt as a disinfection material for wastewater treatment by generating NaClO and other compounds from it by electrolysis. As a result, a mix-ture liquid (hereafter referred to as eco hypochlorite) of NaClO and KClO with an effective chlorine concentration of above 5 , 000 mg/L was generated by a diaphragm-free electrolysis method with the concentration of salt water at 3 % and Ca 2 + at 30 mg/L. In the sterilization capacity test of eco hypochlorite, it was con-firmed that its capacity is equal to or greater than that of industrial NaClO. According to the feasibility study, when the amount of dried by-product salt is more than 0 . 5 t/day (equivalent to the amount of by-product salt generated from a city of 100 , 000 people) and recycled as disinfection material in a sewage treatment facility, it will provide economic merits to both the source (final disposal site) and the user (sewage).","PeriodicalId":432877,"journal":{"name":"Journal of The Japan Society of Material Cycles and Waste Management","volume":"213 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114577657","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We examined the effect of providing information based on The Guideline using a citizenʼs evaluation of their local municipal solid waste treatment services : a questionnaire was conducted in four target cities and participants were then divided into two groups. One group was shown diagrams showing the status of waste generation and its treatment in their city based on suggestions noted in The Guideline , while the other group was not provided with any sort of supplemental information. Appending appropriate interpretations to the diagrams was found to be important because information prepared based on the Guideline tended to lower the respondentsʼ evaluations of municipal solid waste treatment. We suggest that when citizens have a basic familiarity with the local waste management administration and rely upon it, even negative information does not affect their evaluations. With this in mind, we strongly encourage prioritizing the building up of close relationships based on mutual trust between citizens and local government, using The Guideline as a tool for such communication.","PeriodicalId":432877,"journal":{"name":"Journal of The Japan Society of Material Cycles and Waste Management","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127370337","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
