Despite its frequency, backache is not a dramatic disease that arouses scientific curiosity and interest to the practitioners. Here an attempt has been made to evaluate the analgesic effect of Basti Chikitsa (Ayurvedic Enema therapy) in the patients with Katigraha (Chronic low back pain) Aim: We aimed to evaluate the Rujahara (Analgesic) Effect of Dwitiya Baladi Yapana Basti in Comparison to Ayurvedic Medication (Tryodashanga Gugglu and Rasnadi Kwath) in the Management of Katigraha (Low Back Pain). Materials and Methods: This study was conducted on 60 clinically diagnosed cases of Katigraha (Low Back Pain) from OPD of Ch. Brahm Prakash Ayurved Charak Sansthan, Khera Dabar, Najafgarh, New Delhi in a period of 12 months after taking institutional ethical clearance. Parameters to evaluate the analgesic effect were Oswestry’s disability index (ODI) as subjective parameter and Visual Analouge scale, Kemp’s test as objective parameters. Participants were divided into two groups: Group A – Dwitiya Baladi Yapana Basti was given and in Group B- Tryodashanga Gugglu and Rasnadi Kwath were given. Results: A significant difference was found between two groups in objective parameters. In Group A there was a relief of 29.8% in ODI Scale, VAS Scale33.1% and Kemp’s test -65.2 % whereas in Group B there was a relief of 33.1% ODI scale, VAS Scale-22.4% and Kemp’s test- 36.8%. Conclusion: Both the group showed mild to moderate relief in the management of Katigraha. Both the group are equally effective in reducing the Ruja (pain) in Katigraha but Basti Karma showed more relief in objective parameters. No major adverse or side effect were encountered during the course of study","PeriodicalId":431628,"journal":{"name":"International Research Journal of Ayurveda & Yoga","volume":"214 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122328771","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Breastmilk provides nourishment to infant that is needed for overall growth and neurological development. Human breast milk serves as a source of nutrition which is uncontaminated by environmental pathogen. Multiple immunological factors like IgA produced by the mother’s immune system are transported to infant through breast milk and are associatedwith a protective role against infection in children. It reduces the incidence of infantile diarrhoea, allergic/hypersensitivity diseases, and development of Type 1(insulin dependent) and Type 2 (non-insulin dependent) diabetes mellitus. In Ayurvedic classics acharya Charak has described ten herbs for improving breast milk under the name “Stanyajanana Mahakashaya” which can be utilized for mother and child’s preventive and therapeutic aspect. The purpose of this work is to present a conceptual analysis of stanyajanan mahakashayaand its utility for mother and child in breast feeding.","PeriodicalId":431628,"journal":{"name":"International Research Journal of Ayurveda & Yoga","volume":"349 12","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120892876","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on clinical manifestations, vicharchika is frequently linked to eczema. Modern dermatology compares the clinical appearance of Vicharchika to eczema. The most typical kind of dermatitis is eczema. It is believed that the pathogenesis is influenced by both genetic and environmental factors. Despite being present in adults, eczema is more frequently encountered in youngsters. Dry, itchy skin that has poorly defined regions of erythema and scale is a hallmark of eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis. Eczema can be vesicular and ooze when it is acute, but it can also become hyperpigmented and lichenified (thickened) when it is chronic. Scratches or excoriations are commonly observed. Eczema is a symptom that Ayurveda treats, as it holds that all doshas must be in balance for health to exist. However, it does not address the basis of the problem. Recurrence is thus highly common. By balancing the Dosha and Dhatus and purging vitiated Dosha, Ayurveda treats the underlying cause of eczema.","PeriodicalId":431628,"journal":{"name":"International Research Journal of Ayurveda & Yoga","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121104549","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In an important book of Tao entitled Bauputz, the author, Hung Kir (283–363ad) stated: “ingest gold to live a gold-like longevity”. These days, gold leaf, flake, or dust can be found adorning or being added to a variety of dishes and drinks. However, its sole function is that of a decorative accent. Gold, in all of its various medicinal forms, is considered to be the most potent component of many distinct herbo-mineral combinations in Ayurvedamedicine. In pediatric populations, the usage of gold is recommended right from birth, in conjunction with honey and ghee; this process is known as Jatakarmain Ayurveda, while in the neonate and above age group, to promote health, strength, longevity, etc., Lehana is advised. Suvarnprashanis the name given to the practice of ingesting Suvarn Bhasma together with a mixture of Rasyana and Balyamedicines on a regular basis for an extended period of time. Ayurveda has given practical explanation about the communicable diseases in various contexts which are applicable in day-to-day life in their prevention, and cure. The modes of transmission of the Communicable diseases, relative modes of prevention, and maintenance of health with Dinacharya& Ritucharya(daily practice & Seasonal practice) are well illustrated in classics. Various modes of transmission of the communicable diseases by Touch, Inhalation, Sharing Fomites, Polluted water, Air, Soil have been explained in Ayurveda along with the symptoms seen normally which follow cough, dyspnea, vomiting, rhinorrhoea, headache, fever etc. Infectious agents are plentiful, mutate rapidly, and can become resistant to drugs if not destroyed completely. Low vaccination rates, poor nutrition, age (young and elderly), and immunosuppression, Overcrowding, poor regional design and hygiene due to poverty, Polluted drinking water, rapid climate changes, and natural disasters, can lead to conditions that allow easier transmission of disease. The first and foremost aim of Ayurveda is Prevention of diseases and next is the cure of manifested diseases for which avoidance of the causative factors is the first line of management. There are minor diversions in the management of such infective conditions in Ayurveda such as Sadvritta (good conduct), Rasayanaetc which can be effective method of prevention of communicable diseases.","PeriodicalId":431628,"journal":{"name":"International Research Journal of Ayurveda & Yoga","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115159772","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most of them are not dangerous. In Ayurveda Visha mainly classified as Sthavaram and Jangamam. Sthavaram includes plant origin whereas Jangamam includes animal origin like snake, spider, scorpion and insects etc. The detailed explanation of Luthavisha origin, symptoms, mode of poisoning and treatment is available in our classical texts. Acharya Susrutha describes 16 species of Lutha and Vagbhata describes about 28 varieties. Luthavisha (spider poisoning) is very common in Kerala especially in lower socio-economic groups. Here is a case of 6 months old girl child who presented with reddish blue, soft, raised, spreading lesions with pustules, which produce severe irritation to the child and was diagnosed as Luthavisha. Generally, the poison of all spiders has properties of all 3 dosas with predominance of Pita and Kapha. Rasayana is a unique branch of Ayurveda. It promotes the inner healing power of an individual and helps in over taking the pain and disease while promoting the immunity (Svasthasya Orjaskaram). As we know, in the present era, every human being is living under pressure to survive. This stressful life harms our health, happiness and inner sense of well-being. Increased pollution and excessive use of chemical products are also a root of many fatal diseases. In this regard, Rasayana Therapy becomes an essential tool to rejuvenate the body system for a better harmony in body, mind and soul. Advances in recent decades in understanding of aging have revived interest in antiaging factors and thus also in the Rasayana therapy. Rasayana Therapy is also known as Rejuvenation therapy which aims to restore the body’s vigour and vitality. In this review, concept of Rasayana and its role in the present era has been highlighted. Methods: The material has been collected from various Ayurveda texts and scholarly articles for deep understanding of Rasayana. Results: Rasayana is a specialized type of treatment influencing the fundamental aspects of the body viz. dhatus (body tissues), agni (the metabolic activity) and strotamsi (microcirculation) and helps in the prevention of aging. This review showed that Rasayana may provide age-stabilizing effects along with the preservation and promotion of health. Discussion: The purpose of Ayurveda is maintenance of Swasthya (health) and treatment of the Aatura (diseased person).Rasayana is equally important in treatment of diseases as well as in maintaining health. Use of different Rasayana herbs as per disease is useful in correcting Dhatu Vaishamya and attaining Dhatu Samya.
