However, in conventional two-level inverters, the number of devices increases with the increase in the number of output voltage levels, and the circuit becomes bulky and expensive. An MLI topology with the reduced number of power devices especially for the higher output levels is presented in this paper. Forty-nine levels can be generated in the output voltage waveform from this circuit by using only 12 power switches. The performance of the proposed topology is evaluated through MATLAB/Simulink in detailed simulation and power loss analysis. Theoretical analysis and simulation are presented to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed MLI topology. A comparative analysis shows that the proposed MLI topology is superior to other selected existing topologies on many parameters. Finally, the simulation results the proposed MLI topology are experimentally validated using the experimental results.","PeriodicalId":43153,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Power and Energy Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68648890","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The complexity and size of the power network are increasing rapidly day by day. The enhanced power transfer from one section to another section in the existing grid system is the subject of available transfer capability (ATC), which is the modern power system’s critical factor. In this paper, the minimization of power generation cost of the thermal power units is achieved by incorporating renewable sources, says hydro, winds, and solar plants for 24 h scheduled, and ATC calculation is the prime objective. In recent literature, the Mayfly algorithm (MA) optimization approach, which combines the advantages of evolutionary algorithms and swarms intelligence to attend better results, is successfully implemented. In this article, optimum power flow-based ATC is enforced under various conditions with hydro-thermal-solar-wind scheduling concept on the IEEE 9 test bus system to check the performance of the proposed chaotic MA. The chaotic MA is a hybridized format of the MA and chaotic map (CHMA) method. It is noted from the simulation study that the suggested CHMA approach has a dominant nature over other well-established optimization algorithms. In case of single objective function, the value of the cost function is improved by 14% and that of for multi-objective, it is improved by more than 20% and ATC value is enhanced by near about 55% and more.","PeriodicalId":43153,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Power and Energy Systems","volume":"66 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68649407","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Rectangular baffles are attached on either side of the thermal absorber having air flow on its both sides. Two different design features of the baffles are considered – baffle length and pitch. The variations of useful heat gain, electrical efficiency, overall efficiency, and air outlet temperature are modelled for a characteristic solar day. It is shown that the present PVTC achieves the maximum overall efficiency of 44.44% for a baffle length of 44 mm and pitch of 60 mm. The flow physics is then investigated to understand the heat transfer augmentation between the baffles with different pitch lengths. Finally, usefulness of the PVTC is shown by comparing its performance with a few established designs of the literature.","PeriodicalId":43153,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Power and Energy Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68649412","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At the same time, the measurement system often has bad data during the acquisition and transmission process, which seriously affects the accuracy of state estimation. The method in this paper is used to improve the influence of the state estimation on measurement uncertainty and bad data, and improve the robustness and accuracy of estimation. Interval analysis method is used to describe the measurement problem with uncertainties, the interval constraint model of state variables in distribution network is established, and the feasible region of state variables is obtained using linear programming method. Based on the measurement uncertainty theory, a robust state estimation optimization model with the highest measurement point accuracy as the objective function is established. The precise value of the state estimation is solved by the interior point method. With the feasible region of state variables as constraints and the median value of the interval as the initial value, it is unnecessary to take the calculation results of power flow as the initial value, thus reducing the scope of solving state variables and reducing the amount of calculation. Compared with the traditional weighted least square, this method has a significant improvement in accuracy and resistance. The feasibility and effectiveness of this method are verified by IEEE30 and IEEE118 systems.","PeriodicalId":43153,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Power and Energy Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68649584","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Depending on passivity concept, storage, related to the DC-link current and DC-link voltage, in addition to q -axis current is initially build-up for a PV system, where every variable will be examined systematically when the advantageous terms are retained carefully so as to exploit the features of PV system. Here, the residual energy is reshaped by the FoPID control model, where the control constraints are optimally tuned by a new hybrid algorithm, which hybrids the concept of Cat Swarm Optimization (CSO) and Firefly Algorithm (FF), so that a finest controlling performance could be attained. As both the concepts of FF and CSO are in-cluded, the adopted model is known as Combined FF-CSO scheme (CFF-CSO).","PeriodicalId":43153,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Power and Energy Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68648872","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
