Neto","doi":"10.1109/IMOC.2015.7369123","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/IMOC.2015.7369123","url":null,"abstract":"In this paper, we analyze numerically and experimentally a remote optical sensor system based on Raman Amplification, composed by one long period grating operating as a sensor head separated by 50 km from the optical source and the interrogation unit composed by two fiber Bragg gratings. Since the active components of the system and the sensor head are separated over such a large distance, it is necessary to consider optical amplification to strengthen the optical signal. The use of Raman amplification allows reaching the desirable gain bandwidth by changing the pump lasers parameters such as the power, number of pumps and spectral position. We present the obtained measurement results of the environmental temperature for two different setups that was analyzed a priori by the numerical model. Developed theory takes into account interactions between spin waves in the different ferrite layers and electromagnetic waves. It was shown that SEW spectra in the ferrite-ferroelectric structure based on two ferrite films and one ferroelectric layer are formed by several hybridizations. The proposed hardware implementation, jointly with a set of other digital signal processing (DSP) blocks, was experimentally evaluated by processing a 32 GBd PDM-16QAM signal. In the transmitter side, it is discussed the linear filters complexity for Nyquist spectral shaping and the trade-off between number of taps and filter roll-off. Then, at the receiver, linear filters and nonlinear compensators are used to equalize chromatic dispersion (CD) and nonlinear distortions, respectively. These stages characterize the DBP block, which is able to enhance the transmission reach and the optimum launch power of the optical system. Transmission performance is optimized for different DBP implementations, considering two CMOS technology nodes: 16 nm and 28 nm. The DBP complexity is evaluated in terms of the required die size and in terms of number of the DBP stages and fiber span-lengths. For a target gain of 35% (in comparison with the CD-only compensation) on the transmission reach, the required DBP chip size is around 1.6 mm x 1.6 mm using 16 nm CMOS technology. For this purpose, a dual-band and dual-polarization microstrip antenna array has been designed, whereby the array should receive the signal in one band and resend it in the other operating band. The radiation pattern in the receiving mode has been synthesized with the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm, which allowed steering the main beam and controlling the side lobe level. In order to assess the performance for practical implementation, a study on the impact of the magnitude discretization due to the use of digitally controlled variable-gain amplifiers on the radiation properties of the array in receiving mode was carried out. Vibration problems in induction motors can be extremely frustrating and may lead to greatly reduced reliability increasing the maintenance cost. The vibration was measured using fiber Bragg gratings (FBG) installed inside the motor between two stator teeth. The vibration frequencies in TIM are predicted using a model of the forces present in the air gap considering a static and dynamic rotor eccentricity. Two FBGs were positioned between two stator teeth, separated by 120° from each other. The analysis of the vibration spectrum at 60 Hz motor power supply presents the frequencies 60 Hz, 120 Hz, 180 Hz and 240 Hz. This combination of the mechanical and electrical frequencies continue to appear even when the motor electrical supply frequency is reduced by half.
