Ten female early-onset periodontitis subjects (EOP), (mean age 24.9 + 7.1), and 10 female subjects with gingivitis or mucogingival problem (G), (mean age 24.7 + 5.1), were selected. General and periodontal conditions of all subjects were examined. Nutritional status based on the 5 days intakes of nutrients was analysed and the measured values with recommended dietary allowances for the Japanese (4th revision, 1989) were compared. All subjects in both groups were of average build with non contributory medical history. Numbers of present teeth and rates of treated teeth were 28.0+0.7, 37.8 + 3.0% in EOP group and 27.9 + 1.0, 29.6 + 5.8% in G group as an average, respectively. Most of drivers have tried various devices to keep up arousal level such as openig the window, standing up, loud speaking during train operation, but they say that nothing was effective. We have considered that we need to study the problem systematically in seeking for any effective method. We already have established the evaluation method for determination of arousal level synthesizing skin potential level and blinking rate, and compared the effects of gum chewing, listening to music, light physical exercise, etc. This time, we take up the gum chewing as one of the effective devices and prepare a gum with components having both arousal effect and special flavor. A total of 10 subjects, five males and five females, are examined. Three subjects a day are submitted to 30 minutes of gum chewing for evaluation of their arousal levels. Results indicate that the arousal effect of the special gum remains at the highest level for 30 minutes, but the gumbase drops immediately to the lowest level, and that of the BB-gum yields the same effect as the gumbase in 18 minutes of chewing. It has been well known that the arousal effect of gum comes from the movement stimulus of chewing muscles, but it can be said from the results of experiment that components having arousal effect and special flavor in the special gum are more effective in maintaining the arousal level than the movement stimulus of chewing muscles. 1.は じめに 夜間から早朝にかけての列車運転は,心 身機能 が低下する概日リズムの時刻帯にあるため,昼 間 よりも眠気を一段 と促 し易い。このため,事 故件 数 も昼間は少ないが,深 夜から増え,特 に朝方の 6時 前後に最高になっている(橋 本,1973)。 ま た,運 転を長時間続けた場合の心身の疲労 と単調 感 も覚醒を保持 しようとする努力を低下させ,眠 気 を促進する要因になると考えている。運転士 は,眠 気防止の手段 として,窓 から顔を出すと か,立 ち上がる,声 を出すなど,自 分なりにいろ いろ工夫をしているようであるが,有 効な方法は ないと言っている。これは,恐 らくそれらの覚醒 効果の持続性が短いこと,ま た睡眠不足などで本 当に眠い時には効かなかったことなどから,眠 気 防止に有効でないと言っていると思われる。この ような状況にあるため,諸 種手段の覚醒効果を明 らかにすることは運転時の眠気防止対策を確立す る上で重要であると考えられる。 そこで,我 々は,既 に皮膚電位水準 とまばたき のデータの合成値を用いて覚醒レベルを評価する 方法を提案 し,そ れを用いて音楽,軽 い体操,ガ ム咀嚼などの手段 を実施 した時の覚醒 レベルの比 較などを報告してきた(倉 又ら,1993;1994)。 この研究成果のうち,ガ ム咀嚼による覚醒効果 の室内実験では,一 過性の覚醒効果は大 きいが, そのまま咀嚼 を続けると急速 に低下する結果に なっていた(倉 又 ら,1993)。 しか し,遠 藤 ら (1982)は,実 験的なバス走行時において市販ガ ムの咀嚼 でも覚醒効果のあることを報告 してい る。 上記の事実およびガムは簡単に扱えて実用的で あることを考えると,覚 醒レベル持続効果のある ガムが得られるならば,実 際の列車運転時におい て覚醒 レベル維持に有効な手段になると考えてい る。 2.目 的 今回,ガ ム咀嚼 の覚醒効果の研究の一環 とし て,そ の効果が予想される数種の成分 と特有の味 覚を持ったガム(特 製ガム)を 試作し,そ のガム の有効性をみるため,味 のない咀嚼効果のみのガ ムベースおよび市販の覚醒用ガム(商 品名ブラッ クブラック,以 後BBガ ムと略記)を 対照 として 覚醒効果を比較評価することにした。 3.実 験方法 1)被験者 年齢21歳 から31歳(平 均±標準偏差:24.7±2.7 歳)の 喫煙習慣のない男女各5名 を被験者 とし た。 2)測 定項目 (1)ま ばたき:眼 瞼の上下に電極を貼付 し,誘 導 された電位を時定数1.5secで測定 した。 (2)皮 膚電位水準(SPL):左 手掌部および左 側前腕部に電極を装着して導出された10秒毎の電 位差を記録測定 した。 (3)咀嚼 回数:筋 電図お よびビデオから求め 日本咀嚼学会雑誌","PeriodicalId":431432,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Japanese Society for Mastication Science and Health Promotion","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1994-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126270622","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
