These systems allow individuals to constitute communities of common interests with wide cultural diversity, sharing information and vocabularies. Search engines in SNS should take info account the meanings created, shared and used by people through the use of the system. This paper investigates a new approach to adequate search in SNS based on these characteristics. We propose a Dove) search mechanism grounded in Semantic Web technologies combined with a method coming from Organisational Semiotics (OS). We illustrate a process and techniques to improve semantic search results in SNS, with practical and technological results that could be achieved using the proposed approach.","PeriodicalId":431237,"journal":{"name":"2010 10th Annual International Conference on New Technologies of Distributed Systems (NOTERE)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-08-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114574202","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As the number of Web Services is exponentially growing and expected to do so for the next decade, the need for categorizing and/or classifying Web Services is very crucial for their success and the success of the underlying SOA. Categorization aims at systematizing Web Services according to their functionalities and their Quality of Service attributes. Communities of Web Services have been used to gather Web Services based on their functionalities. In fact, Web Services in a community usually offer similar and/or complementary services. In this paper, we augment Web Services communities' classification by adding a new support layer for Quality of Service classification. This is done through Quality of Services specification, monitoring, and certification of different Web Services. A Web Service might be admitted to a community thanks to its high Quality of Service or might be ejected from a community due to its low Quality of Service. We propose a managerial community of Web Services that is able to monitor and certify Quality of Web Services in other communities. This managerial community offers services to other communities, Web Services providers, and Web Services clients by monitoring and certifying Web Services. The focus of this paper is the use of the managerial community to select Web Services.","PeriodicalId":431237,"journal":{"name":"2010 10th Annual International Conference on New Technologies of Distributed Systems (NOTERE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-08-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129890578","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although Web search applications are improving, they still need to be more intelligent to adapt to the search domain targeted by users, the evolution of this domain and users' characteristics. In this paper, we present an experimental assessment of the TARGET framework for improving the relevance of the documents when users are searching the Web by using adaptive ontologies. This is done first by introducing the TARGET approach. We will briefly present the used ontologies and their ability to adapt to domain evolution. Then, We detail the TARGET tool used in our experimentations. This includes its architecture, its ability to carry out the ontology adaptation process as well as the way it searches the Web and ranks the returned results. Finally, we discuss the results obtained using the tool through the presentation of our case study devoted to the retrieval of scientific articles.","PeriodicalId":431237,"journal":{"name":"2010 10th Annual International Conference on New Technologies of Distributed Systems (NOTERE)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-08-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114696502","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Some researches have been proposed to organize the network into groups called clusters and use different routing protocols for inter and intra clusters to propagate an information. But with these solutions, the network first needs to be organized into cluster and next, we need to construct each routing table. Other researchers have been proposed to build a spanning tree on the network to forward informations on a tree but many solutions need to know the global network topology. In this paper, we propose a self-stabilizing algorithm both to construct cluster and simultaneously build a spanning tree on the network. Without any global knowledge, we use only one type of periodically exchanged messages of size Log(5n+3) bits and we construct clusters and the spanning tree on the network.","PeriodicalId":431237,"journal":{"name":"2010 10th Annual International Conference on New Technologies of Distributed Systems (NOTERE)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-08-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124800851","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We are interested specifically to mobile wireless sensor networks which are considered as anonymous asynchronous distributed mobile systems. As broadcast is one of the most important applications for this kind of networks, and as it depends on the communication model used in the network, we tried to find the most adequate one to make a distributed broadcast algorithm. We adopted the model presented by Angluin of pairwise interactions of anonymous finite-state agents to broadcast information: the population protocol. We tried to modify this model to avoid duplication of the information and calculate its complexity. Then, we extended it with the rendezvous one which made the stabilization faster. The implementation, the simulation and the validation of these algorithms and results were done with Visidia.","PeriodicalId":431237,"journal":{"name":"2010 10th Annual International Conference on New Technologies of Distributed Systems (NOTERE)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-08-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125256049","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In such systems, correctness means not only computing the right results but also produce It in a timely way. This implies that response time is as important as producing correct results. Therefore, real-time systems must be built to meet these response times. Several solutions were suggested within the context of Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) to address this problem. However, Real-Time systems may be large, distributed, have long lifetimes and a dynamic environment. On the one hand, such qualities require the use of different software performance and reliability techniques at different levels of granularity and at different time. On the other hand, they involve the integration of new, previously unanticipated services and the update of existing services with the respect of system real-time constraints and without requiring system downtime. These adaptive behaviors amplify more and more the complexity of the development of real-time embedded systems. Existing MDE approach do not handle completely these time-bounded adaptive behaviors. In this position paper, we present the related works around the development of adaptive real-time embedded systems and why we aim to address the issue in MDE approach.","PeriodicalId":431237,"journal":{"name":"2010 10th Annual International Conference on New Technologies of Distributed Systems (NOTERE)","volume":"39 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-08-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116505482","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this context, services arc functional parts that receive and send messages in a distributed environment. This structure is especially interesting for multimedia/video applications due to their natural mapping to a graph-based structure. In this paper, a component model for the implementation of services is provided. The goal is to obtain services developed with a homogeneous structure to case interoperability. The proposed component model (named iLaSer) defines the interfaces with other services in a way that both, data and quality of service (QoS) information is given for each service. Target applications are distributed environments where QoS Information is relevant to allow managing the execution of services in compliance with functional and non-functional requirements. This work is carried out in the context of the iLAND project where the communication middleware performs QoS-based service composition in a time-deterministic manner. Io show the feasibility of the approach, experimental results are provided with the implementation of a video application based on services that follow the proposed component model.","PeriodicalId":431237,"journal":{"name":"2010 10th Annual International Conference on New Technologies of Distributed Systems (NOTERE)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-08-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133793929","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Availability Management Framework (AMF) is a middleware service that manages the availability of the applications' services by coordinating their provision among the application's redundant components. The application's components that collaborate to provide a service are logically grouped into a service unit (SU). For management purpose, the SU workload is abstracted as a service instance (SI). Redundant SUs that collaborate to protect a set of Sis are grouped into a service group (SG). The assignment of the Sis to the SUs is a runtime operation performed by AMF. For some redundancy models, NWay and NWayActive, this assignment is performed for each SI according to a predefined ranked list of the SUs in the SG. In this paper we discuss the challenges of defining this ranking at configuration time and propose an approach that automatically generates the ranked list of SUs at that time and guaranties continuous load balancing.","PeriodicalId":431237,"journal":{"name":"2010 10th Annual International Conference on New Technologies of Distributed Systems (NOTERE)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-08-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126508489","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
