Due to this expansion, pulverization turned from manual to mechanical using ground equipment and aircraft. As a result of the new tendencies, recent statistics show the negative impacts on the health of pilots and operators of terrestrial machinery and on the environment. The present study evaluates the concept of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) for pulverization of defensive products, named here as AVANT. In this study, new airfoils are evaluated, lifting line technique, vortex and panels method are used to define the geometry of the wings, fuselage and tail elements. Simulations were realized to verify the performance of the AVANT during operational shots and maneuvers. The basic parameters of the proposed AVANT are, Wingspan: 6 m; Monoplane; High wing; Piston engine (gasoline); Propeller; Tractor type; Installed power: 18 hp; Length: 5.5 m; Height: 1.477 m; Tail dragger type; Tail width: 2.6 m; Empty weight: 108.585 kg; Gross weight: 150 kg; Maximum Endurance: 9 h; Fuel capacity: 28 L; Agrochemicals capacity: 20 L; The results show that the AVANT is adequate for the proposed application.","PeriodicalId":43096,"journal":{"name":"Revista Agrogeoambiental","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2021-03-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47090203","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study examines the quality of coffee seedlings produced in nurseries in the municipalities of Inconfidentes, Ouro Fino, and Jacutinga, southern Minas Gerais State, Brazil. The experiment was carried out in nurseries here termed 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, from 05/28/2017 to 02/28/2018. The experiment was developed in an 8 × 2 factorial arrangement consisting of 8 seedling nurseries and 2 cultivars (Catuaí strains IAC 62 and 144) evaluated in 3 replicates containing 8 seedlings each. The following traits were evaluated: leaf area (LA), total dry matter (TDM), shoot: root ratio (S: R), plant height: stem diameter ratio (HDR), and Dickson quality index (DQI). Data were subjected to combined analysis and, after significant differences were detected (p<0.05), the Scott-Knott test of means was applied. The management adopted in the nurseries influenced the development of the evaluated cultivars. Seedlings from nursery 5, of both evaluated cultivars; and from nursery 8, of cultivar IAC 144, exhibited a DQI above 0.2, indicating superior quality. Only nursery 5 showed seedlings of adequate quality for both cultivars. Regardless of their location, the other coffee-seedling nurseries still did not produce seedlings of satisfactory quality to be taken to the field.","PeriodicalId":43096,"journal":{"name":"Revista Agrogeoambiental","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2021-03-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42914690","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aimed to evaluate the efficiency of different herbicide trials, applied individually or in a mixture, in the management of common bean weeds. A randomized complete block was used, arranged in subdivided plots. The main plots consisted of three types of beans (Carioca Pérola cultivar, Black cultivar IPR Tuiuiu and one Red Bean strain VR20) and the subplots of different control modes, in four replications: hand weeding, fomesafen (250 g per hectare of ingredient active (g ha-1 of a.i.)), fomesafen (375 g ha-1 of a.i.), imazamox + bentazon (0,23 + 0,6g ha-1 of a.i.), imazamox + bentazon + fomesafen (0.23 + 0.6 + 125 g ha-1 of a.i.) and imazamox + bentazon + fomesafen (0.23 + 0.6 + 83 g ha-1 of a.i.). The following traits were evaluated during three seasons: weeds present in the area, phytotoxicity symptoms, and common bean grain yield. The data were analyzed using a variance analysis (F test), the means obtained were grouped by the Scott Knott test at 5 % probability. Differences in grain yield performance were observed between cultivars and crops season due to herbicide application. The most efficacy treatment for weeds was imazamox + bentazon + fomesafen (230 + 600 + 125 g ha-1 of a.i.), resulting in improved control and greater efficiency in avoiding grain yield losses.","PeriodicalId":43096,"journal":{"name":"Revista Agrogeoambiental","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2021-03-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48214583","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Multiplied shoots were inoculated in MS and ½ MS medium (half strength of MS salts) to root, supplemented with NAA (0 μM and 4 μM). Data were analyzed by non-parametric statistical Kruskal-Wallis test. Best results to shoot multiplication were obtained using 1.11 μM or 2.22 μM of BAP combined 0.27 μM of NAA in multiplication medium and performing three subcultures, providing higher rates of shoots production per explant (average of 2.24) and high survival rate. Best results for rooting of shoots generated were obtained using a rooting medium containing ½ MS supplemented with 4 μM of NAA, providing a higher percentage of shoot rooting (average of 68%).","PeriodicalId":43096,"journal":{"name":"Revista Agrogeoambiental","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2021-03-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45764651","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among the models, we have the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE) which has a simple structure, low implementation cost and can be used with readily available information, contributing to the planning of soil conservation practices. In this context, the objective of the work was to apply RUSLE to estimate water erosion in the Córrego da Laje watershed affluent directly from the reservoir of the Furnas Hydroelectric Plant, located in the south of Minas Gerais, a region of southeastern Brazil. In this region, water erosion is a serious problem that has caused the silting up of the hydroelectric reservoir and the depreciation of water quality. Soil losses were calculated in Geographic Information System based on topographic, edaphoclimatic characteristics, soil cover, and management practices. The average soil loss of the watershed was 26.80 Mg ha-1 year-1 with the predominance of highintensity erosive rates (> 15 Mg ha-1 year-1). Considering the basin use classes, sediment generation was higher in pasture areas (35.87 Mg ha-1 year-1), and in areas under maize cultivation (32.05 Mg ha-1 year-1). As areas with severe erosion are distributed throughout the watershed, a comprehensive water erosion mitigation plan should be adopted to reduce the environmental damage of the process.","PeriodicalId":43096,"journal":{"name":"Revista Agrogeoambiental","volume":"12 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2021-03-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42212884","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective of this study was to describe the dynamics of carbon mineralization in litter soils using nonlinear models, estimating half-life times. Soil carbon mineralization under three types of forest cover was evaluated: Atlantic forest fragment (capoeira), Acacia auriculiformis trees (acacia), and Mimosa caesalpiniifolia (sabiá) from a reforested area with a history of degradation. Twelve measurements of the mineralized carbon were made up to 222 days after the beginning of the incubation of litter soils. Stanford and Smith, Juma, and Cabrera models were fitted by the least squares method using the Gauss-Newton algorithm in the R software. The Stanford and Smith model was more appropriate in describing all treatments, based on the Akaike Information Criterion, with estimates of half-life for Acácia, Capoeira, and Sabiá soils at 25, 44, and 51 days, respectively. The Stanford and Smith and Juma nonlinear models satisfactorily described the carbon mineralization of soils of all treatments.","PeriodicalId":43096,"journal":{"name":"Revista Agrogeoambiental","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2021-03-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44732000","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective of the study was to evaluate the arboreal patterns in a 0.111 ha fragment around a 4.8 ha clearing in an area of Atlantic Forest in the city of São Sebastião (SP), allowing the revegetation plan to include native species observed in the region. The phytosociological analyses used the Point-Centered Quarter Method (PCQM), using 50 sampling points (30 in close areas, 10 in the forest edge, and 10 near one of the areas drains), with a minimum distance of 20 meters between them. The main variables analyzed were commercial height, diameter to chest height, successional category, and dispersion syndrome. Also, the number of individuals of each species was observed, as well as their basal area (G), absolute and relative density (DA and DR) and dominance (DoA and DoR), relative frequency (FR), and importance value (VI). The results indicate a higher proportion of non-pioneer species, with Guapira oppositte (Vell.) presenting the highest value of importance and density, and the Schizolobium parahyba (Vell.) Blake with the highest basal area. The survey data indicate the richness of species in the study area, serving as a basis for strategies for management and conservation of the environment. Phytosociological studies, although scarce, are important to support the analysis of preservation and the use of nature.","PeriodicalId":43096,"journal":{"name":"Revista Agrogeoambiental","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2021-03-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44870426","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this sense, the type of terrace has considerable influence on the product’s final quality. Therefore, in this study, ground soil terraces and porous concrete paving blocks will be evaluated, and the experiment was conducted in the city of Cambuquira/MG. For this purpose, porous concrete and compressed earth blocks with dimensions of 50 cm x 50 cm x 10 cm were built, totaling 10 blocks of each type of terrace. The experimental design was in randomized blocks (RB), using cherry coffee, with 10 replications, with a total of 20 plots. For the evaluation of the water infiltration capacity in the porous concrete paving block, a cylinder of 30 cm in diameter was used placed in the center of the porous concrete block, and the lower edges rejoined with cement to guarantee the use of the internal area of the cylinder only. The drying process of coffee on a porous concrete paving block terrace provided better quality both in the beverage and in the reduction of the number of defects in the beans. In the city of Cambuquira, the potential for infiltration and storage of rainwater is 58.8 m3 year-1. Considering a 10-year lifespan, the construction of the porous concrete paving block terrace is economically viable concerning the ground soil terrace, providing gains of up to 15%.","PeriodicalId":43096,"journal":{"name":"Revista Agrogeoambiental","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2021-03-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45985344","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many species are synanthropic, however, there are still few studies of these insects in anthropized environments. The objective of this study was to verify the richness, colony fluctuation, and preferential substrates for social wasp nesting at IFSULDEMINAS Campus Machado. Four censuses/inventories were carried out from November 2015 to June 2016, and the active collection method with an entomological net was used for wasp collection. The specimens found were assembled, identified, and deposited in the collection of the entomology laboratory of the institution. In total, 20 species of social wasps were registered, from which the genera Polybia, Polistes, and Mischocyttarus showed a greater richness of species. The number of colonies increased from November to March, decreasing in June. Mischocyttarus cassununga R. von Ihering (1903) had more abundance of colonies in all months evaluated. Broadly, the genera Mischocyttarus and Polistes presented nesting preference for the building substrate, while the genus Polybia presented preference for the vegetation substrate. Machado Campus has a diversity of environments that contributes to the establishment of social wasp colonies. Therefore, it is essential to disseminate this information and environmental education actions to the community to demonstrate the importance of these insects for the ecosystem and the need for environmental conservation to guarantee their ecosystem services.","PeriodicalId":43096,"journal":{"name":"Revista Agrogeoambiental","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2021-03-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44279805","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mining activities are known for their high environmental impacts. Considering the high magnitude of some operations and amounts of tailings produced, the mining activity has represented a risk for several regions and populations, which can be affected by accidents and inefficient disposal and monitoring systems. Remote sensing has been frequently used to map areas that are large or difficult to access; it enables the obtaining of information on objects or phenomena on the Earth’s surface without requiring physical contact, making it an important source of data collection that can be used for several purposes. Images usedin remote sensing provide a synoptic and multitemporal view of large areas and are an alternative for environmental studies. The objective of this work was to evaluate the extension of the area affected by the collapse of the tailings dam of the Vale S.A. company in the Córrego do Feijão stream mine, in the municipality of Brumadinho, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, which occurred on January 25, 2019, causing an environmental impact that will last for many years. The dimension of this environmental impact was analyzed using imagery of the Planet’s satellite constellation with spatial resolution of3.0 meters. The methodology used was based on digital image processing, using the PCI Geomatics and ENVI 5.3 software, which made possible the quantification of the affected area. Two different methods were used and the results were compared to those provided by the State Secretariat for Environment and Sustainable Development of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The results showed an affected area of 2.964096 km², from the Brumadinho dam to the Paraopeba River.","PeriodicalId":43096,"journal":{"name":"Revista Agrogeoambiental","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2020-12-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42847790","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
