The High Side (HS) driver provides regulated current for defined dwell times in order to ignite the squib with energy of 8mJ. This energy should be delivered only when the driver is powered. However dynamic shorts with slew rates of 100V/µs on the drain of the HS driver in its unpowered state can also provide 8mJ energy to the squib and inadvertently deploy the airbag if proper gate discharge is not present to ensure fast turn OFF of the HS driver. The HS driver proposed here regulates the current to 1.37A for 2.1ms and 2A for 0.75ms in the powered state with 0.4µJ energy limitation to prevent inadvertent deployment using passive and active discharge paths in the unpowered state. The leakage current from the drain of HS driver is 1µA at 35V when compared to prior Art of 50µA. This design is implemented and verified on a 4 loop squib driver in 0.35µm, 85V BiCMOS process.","PeriodicalId":428765,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 14th Dallas Circuits and Systems Conference (DCAS)","volume":"929 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123290074","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Computational Algorithms complexity has led to widespread research in this field. Besides, using a DNN accelerator is an effective method in order to hasten the computation in those algorithms. The majority of DNN accelerator use parallelism Processing Elements (PEs) in order to lessen hardware costs. Regarding high volume of input data in image processing, lessening computing runtime is considered as an open challenge in DNNs accelerator. All above-mentioned issues have created different data flow mapping method in DNNs accelerator. Having removed the transformer from the grid-connected PV systems, a leakage current is generated due to the existence of a parasitic capacitance between the PV array and the ground. This leakage current increases the electromagnetic emissions and the harmonics of the current injected to the grid and reduce the system efficiency. In this paper, the Z-source inverter (ZSI) with a modified modulation technique is employed to address the leakage current issue in single-phase grid-connected transformerless PV systems. MATLAB/SIMULINK simulation results are provided to evaluate and prove the effectiveness of the ZSI compared to the conventional two-stage boost-buck inverter in terms of the leakage current and the total harmonic distortion (THD) of the injected grid current.","PeriodicalId":428765,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 14th Dallas Circuits and Systems Conference (DCAS)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132778557","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents a method which attempts to resolve such a problem for complicated processors with tens of power domains. In order to ensure that the functionality of the processor after inserting power management controllers does not change, an efficient equivalence checking is performed between the low-power implementation model and its specification model. However, this kind of verification is not sufficient due to non-functional behavior of system-level power management strategies. Therefore, the proposed method checks the consistency between PMU and UPF by high-level power rules which are extracted from UPF. The experimental results show that the proposed method helps designers not only to create a correct high-level power management controller but also to identify the low-power functional and non-functional bugs in their designs.","PeriodicalId":428765,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 14th Dallas Circuits and Systems Conference (DCAS)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130891326","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A designer must consider numerous design choices, data-flow types, processing elements, memory hierarchy, and data-precision for a DNN implementation. A collaborative algorithm/model/hardware tool is needed to enable a reconfigurable, fast, and efficient DNN hardware accelerator. We propose an accelerator framework that automatically generates an optimized FPGA-based model given DNNs from standard machine learning frameworks without humans in the loop. For faster, accurate, and efficient hardware implementation, the framework employs a coarse-grained software-model to estimate the performance and hardware utilization using mathematical relations. The results are a High-Level-Synthesis (HLS) code with a set of optimization pragmas for fine-tuning to optimizes the hardware generated from the previous phase. Various hardware-accelerator architecture can be selected based on user preferences such as performance and FPGA chip, and the neural network size. The hardware implementation of various DNN models is shown to prove the proposed framework's flexibility and performance.","PeriodicalId":428765,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 14th Dallas Circuits and Systems Conference (DCAS)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122753407","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed rectifier is a very low voltage CMOS rectifier circuit that rectifies the low-frequency signal of 100–250 mV amplitude and 1–10 Hz frequency into DC voltage. In this work, the energy is harvested from the REWOD (reverse electrowetting-on-dielectric) generator, which is a reverse electrowetting technique that converts mechanical vibrations to electrical energy. The objective is to develop a REWOD-based self-powered motion (such as walking, running, jogging, etc.) tracking sensors that can be worn, thus harvesting energy from regular activities. To this end, the proposed circuits are designed in such a way that the output from the REWOD is rectified and regulated using a DC-DC converter which is a 5-stage cross-coupled switching circuit. Simulation results show a voltage range of 1.1 V-2.1 V, i.e., 850-1200% voltage conversion efficiency (VCE) and 30% power conversion efficiency (PCE) for low input signal in the range 100–250 mV in the low-frequency range. This performance verifies the integration of the rectifier and DC-DC boost converter which makes it highly suitable for various motion-based energy harvesting applications.","PeriodicalId":428765,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 14th Dallas Circuits and Systems Conference (DCAS)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126582354","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When temperature sensors are employed to sense the power dissipation of nearby circuits based on electrothermal coupling on the chip, the signal quality is limited by flicker noise because the slowly-varying temperature gradients imply that the information of interest is at low frequencies. The proposed two-stage transimpedance amplifier architecture has been designed with a chopping technique for flicker noise reduction by modulating the differential input currents from the bipolar junction transistors used as temperature sensors. Simulations of the prototype sensor circuit implemented in 130 nm CMOS technology show a low output-referred noise of 0.38 mVrms over a bandwidth from 1 to 370 Hz, while exhibiting a high temperature sensitivity of 2.09 V/ °C. A noise analysis was performed to derive equations that aid the design process with regards to trade-offs of parameters affecting noise performance, such as the chopping frequency and feedback resistance of the transimpedance amplifier.","PeriodicalId":428765,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 14th Dallas Circuits and Systems Conference (DCAS)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131407771","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These settings are derived from group averages but do not account for individual differences or preferences. In a previous work, we developed a human-in-the-loop deep reinforcement learning compression approach to set the compression ratios across a number of frequency bands. These compression ratios were compared to those of the widely used and accepted DSL-v5 hearing aid prescription to determine if incorporating user preference impacted word recognition performance. A pilot clinical study of this comparison for four participants is reported in this paper. The clinical testing results obtained strongly support the hypothesis that the personalized compression settings do not negatively impact word recognition or audibility compared to the prescriptive compression settings. The ability to provide a personalized amplification strategy with no degradation in hearing performance would be of benefit in hearing aids or other assistive listening technologies.","PeriodicalId":428765,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 14th Dallas Circuits and Systems Conference (DCAS)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122435674","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
