The user performs in a natural environment without any marker, and the 3D facial video of the user is captured with Kinect. The 2D key facial points are tracked with improved Active Appearance Model, and a set of Action Units are derived with the iterative closest point algorithm. Based on the two rough regions of eyes, we performed extra operations to track blinks and pupil motions. The data of Action Units are transmitted as control parameters using the Musical Instrument Device Interface communication protocol to drive the skeleton-based skinning facial model rendering with 3ds Max. The prototype system has been developed and tested on a common PC platform. Experimental results demonstrated that the digital avatar can mimic general apparent facial expressions of the performer, and the facial animation can reach 30 frames per second as the video capture rate.","PeriodicalId":427418,"journal":{"name":"2013 3rd International Conference on Consumer Electronics, Communications and Networks","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127774242","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The traditional Schmidl & Cox's and Minn's algorithms have some shortcoming on the existence of timing metric plateau and redundant peaks. To overcome these shortcomings, two symbol timing synchronization algorithms based on a novel structure of training symbol are proposed for SC-FDE systems in this paper. The proposed methods can take advantage of the correlations of the four parts of the training symbol to efficiently improve the accuracy of timing synchronization and the anti-multipath capability. The simulation results confirm that the performances of the proposed algorithms are superior to Minn's algorithm in AWGN channel and 3GPP Vehicular A channel.","PeriodicalId":427418,"journal":{"name":"2013 3rd International Conference on Consumer Electronics, Communications and Networks","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115364891","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A new metric is defined for the weight of candidate bits not only in unsatisfied parity check equations but also in satisfied ones. The connection between min-sum decoding algorithm and the proposed algorithm is presented. LM35 is an analog sensor which converts the surrounding temperature to a proportional analog voltage. The sensor's output is connected to one of the ADC (Analog to Digital Converter) channel inputs of the microcontroller to originate the equivalent temperature value in digital format. Within a short duration 10 digital values of temperature are stored and computed to have maximum, minimum and average temperature among these. Then, the computed formats of temperature are displayed in a 16×2 character LCD in °C scale correspondingly. This design process is more convenient than others as it is more economical, efficient and simple.","PeriodicalId":427418,"journal":{"name":"2013 3rd International Conference on Consumer Electronics, Communications and Networks","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124730006","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To provide differentiated QoS, PAFH pre-classifies the whole band into non-overlapping sub hopsets that correspond to traffics of different priorities. Once the PER is higher than a predetermined threshold, the algorithm is triggered and the piconet shrinks its hopset to the corresponding sub hopset according to the traffic priority. In case of the congested condition after reducing the hopset, the piconets with a higher priority monitor their own PER periodically and have the privilege to employ a hopset restoration mechanism. Based on the PER before and after the adjustment, these piconets can change their hopsets adaptively between the sub hopset and the complete one by applying a greedy algorithm. Further, the operation of PAFH is distributed and is totally compatible with the existing specifications. Simulation results show that PAFH significantly outperforms conventional schemes.","PeriodicalId":427418,"journal":{"name":"2013 3rd International Conference on Consumer Electronics, Communications and Networks","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129933062","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
