It plays an important role in reducing computational burden and increasing efficiency for further image processing and analysis. A visual-attention based saliency computation approach is introduced to select the perceptually salient and highly informative regions that represent the main contents of the high resolution remote sensing images. In our method, two bottom-up visual saliency computation methods, edge-based and Graph-based visual saliency (GBVS), are adopted to exploit different kind of features, and the two saliency maps are fused using a 2D Gaussian shaped function for the purpose of improving salient region detection performance. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed method performs well in ground-truth evaluation and outperforms on the salient target area segmentation task, thus could be introduced for preprocessing of targets object detection and recognition.","PeriodicalId":427398,"journal":{"name":"The 19th Annual Wireless and Optical Communications Conference (WOCC 2010)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126936773","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Intrusion detection method is based on analysis of neighbor's behavior and thresholding technique, applied to selected parameters: the number of received packets in a time window of a given length and inter-arrival time of packets. It does not require installation of any additional hardware and extra communication costs; its computational requirements are negligible. The proposed technique ma be used in both hierarchical and flat WSNs. The paper contains recommendations to the choice of threshold value for each traffic parameter. The results of evaluation, which was performed in Castalia simulator for WSNs, demonstrate that the proposed intrusion detection technique has better accuracy in comparison to the common algorithms.","PeriodicalId":427398,"journal":{"name":"The 19th Annual Wireless and Optical Communications Conference (WOCC 2010)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127840720","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To support multicast in a cost-effective way, the multicast of OTN should be realized in electronic domain based on ODU-level rather than optical domain in our point of view. In order to implement multicast routing in OTN, a new minimum cost tree heuristic algorithm is brought forward by us, which takes account of path sharing and load balancing. The simulation results show that the proposed multicast routing algorithm can achieve the preferable performance.","PeriodicalId":427398,"journal":{"name":"The 19th Annual Wireless and Optical Communications Conference (WOCC 2010)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131488698","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently, the constellation extended scheme (CES) is an active technique for reducing PAPR of OFDM signals. However, this approach needs high computational load and more inverse Fast Fourier transform (IFFT) operations for finding the transmitted signal with minimum PAPR out. Therefore, this paper proposes a modified CES with lower computational load and IFFT operations than the CES in a 16-QAM OFDM system. Our proposed method, which combines the CES with the partial transmit sequences (PTS) technique, is also called CES-PTS. When compared to PTS techniques, our proposed method has no need to transmit side information in the transmitter.","PeriodicalId":427398,"journal":{"name":"The 19th Annual Wireless and Optical Communications Conference (WOCC 2010)","volume":"128 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128140573","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We assume that multiple relay nodes in the network can cooperate their transmissions of information to gain energy savings in a distributed network MIMO system. We formulate the problem as maximizing the lifetime of the network in terms of maximizing the overall number of packets transmitted by the source to the destination, given a limited energy supply at the source node and each relay node along the transmission path. Unlike the existing method where all relay nodes cooperatively transmit to the receiving node, we construct a selection method to choose a subset of all relays to participate in the cooperative transmission. The chosen subset is the one that maximizes the lifetime of the network and we call the selection method a residual energy-aware cooperative transmission (REACT) algorithm. Our simulation results show that the proposed REACT algorithm demonstrate much improved lifetime compared to the existing method.","PeriodicalId":427398,"journal":{"name":"The 19th Annual Wireless and Optical Communications Conference (WOCC 2010)","volume":"127 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134371585","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Directing at the complicated architecture and various types of topology of the convergence network, this article proposes an automatic discovery method and a layout algorithm for network topology to facilitate the network management. Adopting the automatic discovery technology which based on SNMP, the automatic discovery method will automatically discover the active and passive devices without increasing the burden of the network. The layout algorithm actually includes the topology auto-adapt layout algorithm when the devices have been discovered and the auto-relayout algorithm when the topology has been changed by the user. The layout algorithm will draw reasonable and distinct topology maps for the user to check through and edit.","PeriodicalId":427398,"journal":{"name":"The 19th Annual Wireless and Optical Communications Conference (WOCC 2010)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124396624","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We model it as a multi-queue single-server system with infinite buffer size and consider the service time distribution of Head-of-line packets as a Markov Chain to get the network throughput as well as the stability. The stable region of retransmission factor q is illustrated in examples of Exponential Backoff (K=∞).
