{"title":"LJUBAVNA MRŽNJA: PSIHODINAMIKA ODNOSA VISOKOKONFLIKTNIH PAROVA U RAZVODU","authors":"Karolina Horvat, Tihana Šipek","doi":"10.3935/ljsr.v29i2.476","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.3935/ljsr.v29i2.476","url":null,"abstract":"According to the object relations theory, romantic partners are chosen on the basis of similar, complementary emotional needs and that creates a promise on the conscious and unconscious level that all that was missing in the previous relationships of an individual would be repaired through this relationship. However, in any longer relationship the breach of expectations is inevitable (destruction of an idealized image of the partner), which leads to disappointment. The destiny of the relationship depends on the way in which partners will deal with the frustrating knowledge that their idealisations will not be realised, or the level of maturity of the relationship and each partner, which is a test that many do not pass. It is commonly known that divorce rates are higher than ever before, and some divorces become high-conflict relationships in which all emotions caused by the breakdown of the relationship swirl into one common aspect – parental functioning. This paper is focused on the couples who experience a difficult breakdown of their relationship – with a lot of anger, hostility, distrust, and sometimes with the incidents of verbal and/or physical abuse, accompanied by lengthy and distressing court proceedings. It is noticeable that the conflict has a role of redefining the dynamics of their new partnership relation, and at the same time it serves as a defense of a person who does not have to deal with and face with complex unpleasant emotions that are a part of every divorce. Unable to accept, analyse and tolerate the unpleasantness of the emotions brought by divorce, these couples often use defense mechanisms of splitting and projections. The usage of these mechanisms leads to the dynamics which is characterised by a cycle of harassment, retaliation and failed reparation attempts that in turn lead to further splitting and projection, often with the resulting outcome of a high-conflict divorce. Couples remain connected and locked in mutual patterns of conflict interactions, in a kind of a tango of loving hate in a manner which restricts their capacity to separate on emotional and daily practical level. Laklija, Ivka Brkić","doi":"10.3935/ljsr.v29i2.442","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.3935/ljsr.v29i2.442","url":null,"abstract":"The aim of the paper is to provide an overview of the results of contemporary research and practices linked to foster care placement matching and the preparation of foster parents and children for their placement world-wide, with special reference to the existing practice in the Republic of Croatia. The success of foster care outcomes is closely related to and depends on, among other things, the quality of the conducted assessment and selection of the most appropriate form of alternative placement concerning the child’s needs, quality of preparatory process and matching, i.e. adjustment of the characteristics of the child and potential foster parents. Matching is a complex process that comprises a series of actions and making a number of decisions which are influenced by various organisational and external factors, as well as those related to the characteristics of an individual case and to the decision-makers. All these factors are described and explained in the paper. Furthermore, the paper emphasises the importance of the timely preparation of the child and the foster family for the arrival of the child for whom it was determined on the basis of the matching process that the placement in that family is in their best interest, but also of the preparation of the parents and family of the child for the experience of removal of the child and entrusting the child to another family. There is no defined model of the foster care placement matching process in the Republic of Croatia. Therefore the author intends to draw attention to it and to arouse scientific and professional interest in this topic in the Republic of Croatia. The symptoms are complex, and they manifest themselves on both the cognitive and the behavioral level. Therefore, the ill person cannot take care of themselves and the help of another person to meet their daily needs is required. A stigma called a „multidimensional concept“ is often connected with this illness, which carries with it the realization that the individual is different in some characteristics and as such deviates from socially acceptable norms. This paper provides an overview of stigma theories, describes the process of stigmatization and stigma management, as well as risk factors that contribute to the creation and maintenance of stigma towards people with dementia in society. Numerous stigma reduction programs are presented internationally with the aim of making people with dementia visible and valued in the same way as other members of the community. Main aim of this paper was to develop a deeper knowledge about certain aspects of quality of life of people with mental health disabilities from the perspective of case management users and people in mental health facilities in the geographical area of Zagreb. Aspects of quality of life that we were interested in were: general health (physical and mental), social and environmental aspects (focusing on social transfers mostly). For this purpose, qualitative research approach was selected and data was collected through semi-structured interviews on the total sample of 8 users. Participants of this study were persons in direct contact with mental health facility »Dom za odrasle – Zagreb«. The mentioned mental health facility is providing case management program for their users, and therefore we had four participants from a case management group and four participants that were accommodated in the mental health facility. The results showed significant differences in social functioning, perception of mental health, as well as in environmental domain on behalf of case management users. Physical health is perceived better in mental health facilities. Thus, the adjustment of children is particularly vulnerable in high-conflict divorces. Having this in mind, the emphasis in this paper is on an overview of the definitions of high-conflict divorce and the factors that contribute to it. A better understanding of ongoing conflict between parents can help facilitate risk assessment for developing high-conflict divorces, as well as create evidence-based prevention programs for that matter. The purpose is to undertake preventive and treatment activities to reduce the level of conflict between parents and prevent consequences for children. In addition, the need for the development of such programs is emphasized, as well as their balanced implementation in the social welfare system, through family centers and other authorized social services providers. The paper emphasizes the great importance of father’s involvement, analyzed effects and causes of (non)involvement. Various aspects of paternity research examined in numerous studies were selected and analyzed in order to suggest a new theoretical and methodological support, inspiration, as well as the directions for further research. The obtained results of the research proved that a variety of methodological approaches could be devised only by understanding the idea of the multidimensionality of the construct of father involvement in the upbringing of children. Some of the most popular quantitative and qualitative approaches and their techniques were highlighted and described in more detail. The paper highlights the limitations of both approaches, stating that a systemic perspective in understanding and in a methodological approach to measuring the involvement of fathers could be perceived as the solution. The data presented in the paper were based on the scientific knowledge. Namely, research methods may have several modalities, comprising a number of research techniques. This prompted us to examine whether the way we experience our own aging, as well as our attitudes towards older people, from adolescence and over a long period of adulthood, but also what is the role of gender and socioeconomic status (earnings and education). The survey was conducted in the Republic of Serbia and included 1,236 respondents (793 women and 443 men). A PORPOS3 battery was used, a purpose-built instrument with 343 questions, which also contains a short scale, Attitude towards one’s own aging with three dimensions: Concern about one’s own aging, Acceptance of aging and Attitude towards the elderly. The results shows that the respondents older than 61 years, in relation to the respondents from 31 to 40 years, but also that the respondents who earn up to 20,000.00 dinars, in relation to those who earn between 71,000.00 and 90,000.00 dinars, have a more negative attitude towards the elderly. Leisure time activities provide the educator with the opportunity to allow, introduce and encourage the search for various solutions and different ways of expression. This paper aims to describe the personal experience of managing the actively spent leisure time of the users of the Centre for Providing Services in the Community Klasje in Osijek. It deals with the activities that were conducted as a part of the domestic science group, creative workshops, and the botanic group. The users took part in the activities based on their abilities and interests, choosing the activities that would help them relax. After the activity, they would feel well because they had had fun and seen the results of their work. One of the most popular activities was the preparation of desserts. Self-expression and creativity are crucial for mental health, and if the children are not allowed to express their creativity, they will find destructive and negative ways to express it.
