The effects of substrate temperature (RT- 200°C) on their electrical and optical properties were studied. The physical characteristics of sprayed CuI were determined by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), current voltage (I-V) measurement and UV-VIS-NIR spectrophotometer. The nanoparticle of CuI was observed at different deposition condition. The effect of substrates temperature on thickness and resistivity proved that both decreases as the substrate temperature increased. This was caused by the increase of carrier concentration at higher substrate temperature. The transmittance and absorption coefficient was measured and then the energy gap was determined which shows the direct transition of n=2. The optimum band gap observed here is 2.75 eV at 150°C of substrate temperature.","PeriodicalId":426671,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Symposium on Humanities, Science and Engineering Research","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126612686","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Zinc acetate dihydrate, 2-methoxyethanol and monoethanolamine were used in the ZnO solution. Different numbers of film layers were employed to study their effects to the physical, electrical and optical properties of the thin films. XRD patterns showed that the films were single crystalline with highly c-axis orientation for films with higher numbers of deposition layers. Morphology studies revealed that the grain sizes increased with the number of layers. Resistivity of the film decreased with the increased number of layers with minimum value of 15.5 Ω.cm given by 6 layers film. The PL spectra exhibit highest UV emission for 6 layers film due to high crystalline quality of the thin film.","PeriodicalId":426671,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Symposium on Humanities, Science and Engineering Research","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132250996","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Response surface methodology (RSM) based on central composite rotatable design (CCRD) was used to optimize the two important process variables namely pH equilibrium (pHeq) and D2EHPA concentration for the Cu(II) extraction. The adequacy of the model was examined, and it was found to be statistically significant. The optimum condition for the Cu(II) extraction was as follows: 4.48 pHeq and 76.00 mM D2EHPA concentration. The optimum predicted percentage Cu(II) extraction was 99.58% and the actual value was 98.08%. The above results shows that the RSM study based on CCRD is adaptable for Cu(II) extraction studied and thus cooking palm oil are potential as greener substitutes for the conventional petroleum-based organic solvents.","PeriodicalId":426671,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Symposium on Humanities, Science and Engineering Research","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132762142","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The removal of RBBR was determined over a concentration range of 50-500 ppm using batch adsorption experiment at room temperature. The percentage removal of RBBR was decreased with the increase of initial concentration. The comparison of percentage removal of RBBR onto the various adsorbents followed the trend: physical-activated BA >; H2O2-treated BA >; untreated BA. In addition, the adsorption isotherm constant reveals that physical-activated BA gives the highest adsorption capacity of RBBR. Result shows that the adsorption mechanisms of RBBR onto the adsorbents studied are well presented by both Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms.","PeriodicalId":426671,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Symposium on Humanities, Science and Engineering Research","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124216932","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Elderly population is not familiar with information technology but e-Health services can help people maintain a healthy lifestyle. In order for the elderly to get benefits from e-Health services, they need to change their attitudes or behaviors. To make this change, it is necessary to persuade the elderly to embrace the use of smartphone. This research investigated factors that influence the elderly's intention to use e-Health services via a smartphone. According to the UTAUT model, the factors that influence the user's intention to use e-Health services are as follows: Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, Social Influence, and Facilitating Conditions. Although the UTAUT model has been widely used to explain user acceptance and use of technology, lack of experience with recent technological advancement and age related deficiencies makes it less attractive for the elderly to adopt new technologies such as the smartphone. This is directly related to the elderly's perception of whether new technology can benefit to their lives. Hence, in this study, the UTAUT model has been extended to include a `Perceived Value' factor. The proposed model identified factors influencing the elderly's intention to use e-Health services via a smartphone. It is found that `Perceived Value' has a strong significance on the elderly's intention to use smartphone, followed by Facilitating Conditions and Effort Expectancy. In contrast, Performance Expectancy and Social Influence did not have a significant influence on intention. With the proposed model, it is possible to develop better e-Health services to meet the needs of the elderly based on widely available smartphones.","PeriodicalId":426671,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Symposium on Humanities, Science and Engineering Research","volume":"339 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124767037","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An empirical study was performed on 41 students from a public university in Malaysia using two types of computer-based systems for learning Basic Computer Networks. The students' learning experiences were evaluated at three different stages of the computer-based learning sessions using self-report technique. The results showed that the students' learning experiences were changing over the period of the computer-based lessons either in positive or negative ways. The directions of changes were mainly influenced by the students' Information Technology (IT) prior knowledge. The results of this study suggest that computer-based guided learning systems should consider students' background of knowledge in their design to achieve effective learning. Further, the combination of the fully-and partially-guided features may create an adaptive computer-based learning system.","PeriodicalId":426671,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Symposium on Humanities, Science and Engineering Research","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128255264","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Lastly, the power of both hedge will changed into one level up or down from the basis power for testing purposes The results show that, changing one level up or down power of the hedge cause only small variations of the performance values and the final ranking remains unchanged.
