The architecture was tested in a Flight information system, discussed in the paper. Audio signal I/O (acquisition and rendering), packet loss concealment and acoustic echo detection and suppression play a fundamental role, since good algorithms are rather demanding for calculations but their presence is often necessary to compensate low-cost, average-quality platforms and interfaces. An important motivation for these studies is the development of portable devices (PD) and of wireless sensors network (WSN). An ESS can be partitioned in two sections: the energy-scavenger itself and the electronic interface. The first one is the energy transducer while the second one is the electronic circuit which manages the energy. One of the most important objectives of the electronic interface is to realize the required ac-dc conversion. Since the output power level of the energy-scavenger can be very low, the conversion should be as efficient as possible. The goal of this paper is to design a voltage doubler ac-dc converter and optimize it. Existing power management techniques are limited to hardware based DVFS (dynamic schemes) and do not take into account application states and many usage scenarios. In this correspondence, a new unified power management framework (UPMF) is proposed which describes a software architecture for a unified hardware and software controlled power management. The framework provides a set of rules for classifying the several devices on a PMD into device classes. Each of these device classes has a set of well-defined states based on the application state. The power management framework contains a power manager module that monitors the application and maintains the states of the devices and based on the power management strategy, controls the states of the devices. The proposed UPMF is very simple to implement and is well suited to handle power management strategies for several classes of applications. Battery power often introduces significant limitations to the use of mobile devices and their applications, including those involved in multimedia streaming that have significant high power requirements. This paper proposes a power save adaptation algorithm for mobile multimedia streaming that aims to increase streaming time given limited battery power resources. The multimedia streaming process is divided into three stages: data reception, decoding and playing and power saving solutions for each of these stages are proposed. These power save mechanisms are then combined to give the power save algorithm. The key idea is to balance the frequency of processor core and memory. Some applications may be I/O bound, some may be CPU bound, and the others may be Memory bound. The proposed DVFS technique relies on pre-collected statistical information of different applications to calculate the expected workload for each coming time slice, and then, it adjusts the frequency of processor core, memory, and system bus to meet the timing constraints(with acceptable penalty) and achieves the maximum energy saving. The proposed technique has been tested on the PXA27x (XScale based) [8] embedded platform and the result was exciting, the processor energy saving can achieve up to 70% in memory bound applications, and the timing performance degradation was less than 5%.
