In doing so, the literature and operational features of IWT were initially reviewed to figure out risk elements (REs) influencing the navigational safety for IWT. After that, a fuzzy Analytic Hierarchical Process (AHP) approach was adopted to estimate the weight for the likelihood and consequence measures of REs. Then, continuous risk matrix (RM) was introduced to identify REs' risk level. Lastly, to test the proposed research model's applicability, IWT operators across Vietnam were empirically surveyed. The empirical findings could be useful for IWT operators in launching managerial policies to boost their navigational safety. Furthermore, the proposed risk evaluation framework may serve as a methodological reference in relevant literature.","PeriodicalId":42576,"journal":{"name":"Transactions on Maritime Science-ToMS","volume":"34 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2023-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80359199","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite its importance, especially considering the requirements of the era, logistics has not been considered with HDI and, although there are many synthetic indices that combine different methods (i.e. DEA, MCDM etc.) with HDI, these indices are far from reaching logical results. Logistics is a fundamental activity in meeting all human needs, and therefore should be considered as a measure of countries' human development. Therefore, this study offers a revision of the HDI with special consideration to the logistics performances of countries. It is observed that infrastructure and timeliness indicators from these sub-indicators of Logistics Performance Index (LPI) have a significant effect on the HDI. Using the United Nations' HDI calculation method with the statistically significant indicators, Logistics-HDI (L-HDI) is developed and proposed as a new index. This study argues that L-HDI reflects the human development of countries more appropriately. The L-HDI will also offer better benchmarking than other synthetic indices in its scientifical field.","PeriodicalId":42576,"journal":{"name":"Transactions on Maritime Science-ToMS","volume":"452 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2023-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82928455","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A correct formulation of a Vision Statement is one of the pillars of any Strategic Plan. Although hundreds of references are available and easily accessible on ports’ websites, there has not been any research analysing in-depth the content of this open information. A massive review of the Vision Statement of 169 Port Authorities has been carried out. This information has been compared with a benchmark group of 55 leading corporations operating in different sectors globally. Conclusions regarding the differences between the formulation of Vision Statements in public and private-oriented sectors are offered. Besides, a segmentation of the sample has been carried out in a way that conclusions over regional effects on Vision Statement’s formulation can also be drawn.","PeriodicalId":42576,"journal":{"name":"Transactions on Maritime Science-ToMS","volume":"7 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2023-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82121890","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many city dwellers use a variety of modes of transportation. An efficient and sustainable urban transportation system must include many modes of transportation for a single trip. Intermodal combinations are essential for urban transportation efficiency. Public transportation and commuting are essential elements of multimodal travel. In urban areas, a mix of bicycles, vehicles, and public transportation is prevalent, while in rural areas, car, and public transportation are more prevalent. By examining the characteristics that lead customers to prefer water transportation over Metrobus and Marmaray, we hope to gain a better understanding of how the Asian and European sides of Istanbul are traversed. The number of participants in the \"Maritime Transportation Satisfaction Survey\" was 2,343. During this period, a model was built using the survey item \"frequency of use\" (dependent variable). Numerous survey examines and evaluation methodologies were utilized to determine the effectiveness of this strategy. The study examines the intermodal travel motivations and the evaluation of transportation options by multimodal users. For a successful urban transportation system, urban planning must take into account multimodal travel behavior and user expectations. There are initiatives to improve water transportation in Istanbul. Conventional maritime transportation is inadequate from start to finish. An integrated route optimization method is needed to increase the efficiency of maritime transportation. We believe that by strengthening maritime transportation links will increase water consumption. Before the coronavirus pandemic, 2,343 maritime carriers were evaluated on March 8, 2020. (Different surveys were conducted among the passengers of City Lines, Private Motors, Metrobus, and Marmaray to compare their choices and reasons.) SPSS will be used for data analysis. Multivariate Statistical Analysis relies on Multinomial Logistic Regression and Discriminant Analysis models, both of which use the K-fold and Leave-one-out criteria to decide which attributes are valid in the regression model and which are valid in the discriminant approach. The Hosmer-Lemeshow test criteria yielded a p-value greater than 0.05 for MLR characteristics.","PeriodicalId":42576,"journal":{"name":"Transactions on Maritime Science-ToMS","volume":"28 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2023-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85876788","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Precisely for this reason, the legislation of each country has prescribed the conditions that must be met by persons who aspire to these tasks. The most important legal framework in the Republic of Croatia is the provisions of the Companies Act. The conditions that must be fulfilled by the members of the management, supervisory board, and board of directors of credit institutions are more demanding than the conditions prescribed for the members of the management structures of non-financial companies. These conditions are specified in the Credit Institutions Act. The aim of the paper is to analyse the management, supervisory board and general assembly of credit institutions in accordance with the Croatian legislation. Rolled bars of grade R4 steel have been selected and metallographic analyses and micro hardness, tensile and Charpy V-notch impact tests performed. Tensile and Charpy V-notch impact tests have also been carried out on mooring links manufactured from the same grade R4 steel. Based on the results presented, the influence of the rolling reduction ratio of the bars and the influence of the ingot casting cooling and reheating process have been observed. Both factors have been found to increase product quality, particularly with respect to the central segregation and homogeneity of the rolled bars.","PeriodicalId":42576,"journal":{"name":"Transactions on Maritime Science-ToMS","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2023-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83589871","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, smart port indicators (SPIs) are crucial for smart port development. Applying SPIs for port management improves the overall port performance, reduces environmental pollution, as well as promoting port safety and innovation. This research aims at confirming the smart port indicators and defining the primary strategies for smart port performance in Thailand. We have employed a questionnaire survey as a method of data collection. Descriptive statistical analysis of respondents' general information and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) has been used to test the key domains and indicators for confirming the dominant and verify the relationship of these indicators to the domains to which the indicator belongs. The results obtained comprise three main domains: smart port operation, smart port environment/energy, and smart port safety/security, using primary nineteen SPIs measurements. Furthermore, this research results have succeeded in introducing port operation to performance management in smart ports, thereby ensuring and facilitating port practice planning.","PeriodicalId":42576,"journal":{"name":"Transactions on Maritime Science-ToMS","volume":"17 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2023-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82028955","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Both international law and national laws of coastal states include numerous regulations governing the authority of coastal states in the EEZ. These laws are key to the efficient and sustainable use of natural resources in the EEZ. This paper will examine the philosophical basis of the authority of coastal states to manage natural resources in the EEZ. The research method used is a normative research method. This research aims to identify and analyze the limits of authority and the purpose of the authority granted by international law. Coastal states can manage natural resources based on the rule of law, and thus realize the purpose for which they were granted such authority. The results of this study suggest that the philosophical basis for the authority of coastal states to manage natural resources in the EEZ is based on sovereign rights. The sovereign right to manage natural resources in the EEZ is exercised for peaceful purposes; the states are required to protect the environment and ensure the sustainability of fishery resources, not violate the rights of developing countries, whether coastal, landlocked or geographically disadvantaged.","PeriodicalId":42576,"journal":{"name":"Transactions on Maritime Science-ToMS","volume":"17 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2023-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78227501","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the policy does not comprehensively cover the lack of assimilation of inland components with the seaport system. To close the gaps, this paper thoroughly discusses the three main objectives proposed for the study: first, to understand the current practicability status of the Malaysian NTP; second, to identify policy limitations concerning the integration of seaports and dry ports in Malaysia; third, to give constructive insights for future strategies to upgrade the Malaysian NTP for national and international trade development. This study adopted a traditional literature review method incorporated with an integrative literature review analysis (ILRA) to scrutinise literature analysis. The findings of this paper indicate that Malaysia should develop a novel and comprehensive seaport-inland policy model integrated with the existing NTP model. Integrating dry ports with the seaport system is crucial to determining NTP sustainability and enriching the nation with an effective transportation system.","PeriodicalId":42576,"journal":{"name":"Transactions on Maritime Science-ToMS","volume":"31 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2023-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75064490","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
