In the study, the corresponding geographical names of linear topographic localities placed within a settlement of any type (city, town, village, hamlet, etc.) are considered as godonyms. The research material analysis resulted in identification of the following linguistic codes, which are implemented in the godonyms of the region under study: memorative, locative, topographic, anthropogenic, symbolic, naturalistic, conditionally abstract, ethnic. The frequency of the identified linguistic codes in small settlements reflects the multidirectional processes of globalization and glocalization in the onomastic nomination. When designating the names of linear localities, topographic and anthropogenic linguistic codes prevail, since such nominations are closely related to the territory on which the settlement is located and the lifestyle of its inhabitants, as well as a conditionally abstract code, which reveals the linguistic and cultural unity of people. It has been established that in small settlements, unlike in urban ones, the process of globalization is reflected in relatively abstract names, the process of glocalization is reflected in locative names, while topographic and memorative onyms provide evidence of both of these processes.","PeriodicalId":42545,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik Volgogradskogo Gosudarstvennogo Universiteta-Seriya 2-Yazykoznanie","volume":"3 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90569654","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Depending on intensity of axiological characteristics by such criteria as space, affiliation, trust, and compliance with linguistic norms, strangeness is verbalized by expanding the \"own : : other – foreign\" opposition. On the textual level, \"otherness\" and \"foreignness\" are characterized by borderline, subjective perception of the recipient; meanwhile, it is noted that the translation decision on overcoming strangeness is made directly by the translator as the initial recipient. Interactions with representatives of other countries and cultures are an active part of the academic discourse, defined by the authors as communication in the high school space and its educational, research, and sociocultural areas. This paper focuses on the international presentational discourse of high school, which implements its phatic tasks in the informative texts posted on an educational institutions website in the original and translated versions. As participants of the presentational discourse are inclined to have a dialog, strangeness tends to be perceived as a form of otherness. Its explication in translated texts is performed by full and functionally adequate translation of the units, such as realia, forms of address, neologisms, proper nouns, which communicate unique information and reflect linguacultural peculiarities.","PeriodicalId":42545,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik Volgogradskogo Gosudarstvennogo Universiteta-Seriya 2-Yazykoznanie","volume":"2 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75237355","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The object of the study is the vocabulary of emotions. By means of component and contextual analysis the author comes to the conclusion that it is causal semantics that provide basis for formation of terminological meaning in the semantic structure of emotives, since the cause or consequence of emotional experience is always something objective – an object, a sign, a process. A semantic shift occurs in the meaning of a language unit when the characteristics of the subject (strashnyj sud, prokljast' / the last judgment, to curse) or the object (obiděti, poobiděti, preobiděti / to offend) change. The ratio of emotive and terminological meanings made it possible to divide the vocabulary of emotions in the \"Charter of Prince Vladimir on Tithes, Courts and Church People\" into three groups: words used in an emotive meaning; words with a syncretism of emotive and terminological meanings; homonymous terms. The involvement of lexicographic data revealed instability of terminological meanings of emotives in the legal language and their preservation in the church sphere.","PeriodicalId":42545,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik Volgogradskogo Gosudarstvennogo Universiteta-Seriya 2-Yazykoznanie","volume":"54 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82281213","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, traditional approaches to the description and classification of parenthetical expressions are marked by heterogeneity, subjectivity and blurred boundaries between the posited groups. The paper suggests a novel perspective on the phenomenon from a construction grammar viewpoint. Theoretical prerequisites of construction grammar are claimed to ensure a well-integrated, systemic framework to account for parenthetical expressions. The key advantage is seen in the specific interpretation of the notion of construction, according to which constructions allow for a certain degree of lexical variation. Parenthetical word combinations with the verbs govorit' and skazat' are analyzed within structural and semantic aspects. The author has identified parenthetical verb phrases of various abstraction degree, listed them in hierarchical structures, and revealed their semantic interrelations. The parenthetical combinations with the verbs govorit' and skazat' are noted to be brought together in a constructional network, which on the one hand reveals intrinsic systematic arrangement of the corresponding language unit, and on the other hand demonstrates its openend character, external links and capability of replenishment with new items. The overall picture thus corroborates the vision of language as an integrated network of constructions of various degree of complexity.","PeriodicalId":42545,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik Volgogradskogo Gosudarstvennogo Universiteta-Seriya 2-Yazykoznanie","volume":"82 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80333301","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study was carried out using a cognitive-and-comparative approach as part of linguistic study of the relationship between language and culture, authoritative dictionaries of Swedish and Russian proverbs provided material for the analysis. A cognitive modeling of the units was carried out, which implied stating the structural-and-semantic models of Swedish and Russian proverbs, their identification and comparison. The study found that both Swedish and Russian proverbs, which express the opposition of \"us vs them\", have a common basic concept with a frame pattern associated with it. However, differences in the conceptual foundations of comparative proverbs in the Swedish and Russian languages derive from the discrepency between conceptual constituency of their domains that are reflected in the proverbs. Thus, Swedish proverbs verbalize the concept of \"House\" with the domain \"Space\", whereas Russian units convey the concept \"Person\" by the domain \"Interpersonal relations\". The Swedish proverbs are noted to be more categorical and didactic than the Russian proverbs. The study findings can be used in the analysis of similarities and differences in the traditional mentality of Swedes and Russians, as reflected in proverbs related to various fragments of the world.","PeriodicalId":42545,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik Volgogradskogo Gosudarstvennogo Universiteta-Seriya 2-Yazykoznanie","volume":"57 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74050380","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The approach is determined by the need to perceptually distinguish neighboring vowels. The area occupied by a specific vowel is described as a combination of microfields with each microfield formed by a set of allophone positions of the vowel in question. The results obtained demonstrate that the variability of the allophone position in the acoustic field can be determined by a number of factors, such as the degree of prominence and vowel position in the phrase. With this aim vowel positioning in the acoustic space in words with neutral and emphatic stress was studied. The speech material for analysis comprised the word 'Stas' embedded in the carrier phrase 'Stas ne byl tihoney' ('Stas was not quiet') with the target word occupying initial, medial and final positions in the phrase; in each position the word was pronounced with neutral and emphatic stress. F1 and F2 values of the sound [a] in the word 'Stas' were extracted with the FFT method using the Praat software. The Student paired t-test was employed to note the significance of difference between the first and second formant frequencies of neutrally and emphatically stressed vowels. The analysis revealed that the vowels uttered with emphatic stress are characterized by an expansion of their acoustic vowel space by moving off the vowel space center. The displacement occurs either through an increase of F1, a decrease of F2, or both. A general trend was observed in the impact of phrasal position on vowel formant frequencies. Though the vowels under neutral stress seemed to display greater response to the phrasal position factor compared to the emphatically stressed ones, noticeable regularities could not be established due to a high intradialectal variability of speakers.","PeriodicalId":42545,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik Volgogradskogo Gosudarstvennogo Universiteta-Seriya 2-Yazykoznanie","volume":"5 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82051934","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Bolsonaro (since 2018). The research required application of an integrated approach to metaphor as both a mental, discursive and culturally conditioned phenomenon. Metaphorical models in the individual presidential discourse are understood as backbone elements of discourse, interconnected and non-existent outside the discursive field. The material for the study was comprised of the scripts of presidents' public speeches, published in the media and on the official website of the President of Brazil. The author shows that in the discourse of L.I. da Silva, the metaphorical model \"governance – playing football\" prevails, while in the discourse of J. Bolsonaro dominates the model \"governance – marriage\". The study stresses that the source sphere of the metaphorical model is represented by a concept that is of high importance both for the personal and national concept sphere, what is consistent with the main goal of the presidential discourse. The paper claims that metaphorical models play an important role in the implementation of the self-presentation strategy by the discourse subject, specifying his role status. The research has proved that this function is implemented due to the use of president's figure as one of the elements of target domain, and the peculiarities are stipulated by the element of source sphere, which is projected upon it.","PeriodicalId":42545,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik Volgogradskogo Gosudarstvennogo Universiteta-Seriya 2-Yazykoznanie","volume":"141 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88101846","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Proceeding from the assumption that the proper name actualizes the onym discourse, the author put forward the following model of a discursive experiment: stage 1 – an associative experiment; stage 2 – dialogical text modelling; stage 3 – monological text modelling. The names of urban commercial objects (ergonyms) were selected as the material for the study. This group of onyms was chosen as one of the most frequently used in urban spatial discourse and functioning both in everyday and in institutional discourse. The associative experiment resulted in receiving the reactions, which represent the initial stage of onym discourse expanding. The derivational, paradigmatic and syntagmatic mechanisms were used at this stage. At the second stage, dialogical reactions were received. The communicative models of dialogue composition were conditionally divided into the models of opposition, comparison and dissemination. As a result of the third stage of the experiment, texts were received, mainly of a fantasy nature. The experiment proved that the proper name is not only an abridged text, but a compression of a variety of texts, which has the potential of unfolding in dynamics and creates a kind of discursive field of the onym.","PeriodicalId":42545,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik Volgogradskogo Gosudarstvennogo Universiteta-Seriya 2-Yazykoznanie","volume":"80 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85736301","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is shown that despite the existing number of studies on this issue, there is lack of precisely formulated criteria that determine the choice of linguistic means to represent a syntactic subject in the languages, which allow both options (partial null subject languages). Based on the discussion of literature on the topic and on the statistical analysis of 16,718 sentence samples from the spoken language, print journalism, and fiction subcorpora of the Russian National Corpus, the article argues that the choice between null and overt subjects in Russian sentences depends on factors such as tense, person, and style, but that this dependency is rather weak, owing to the fact that the Russian language system is now in the process of change. Null-subjectness is not an exclusive syntactic parameter and should be studied along with other aspects like semantics and pragmatics. The statistical data from this study support previously discussed diachronic and acquisition data, and confirm that languages do not nicely distribute themselves into distinct groups, but inhabit a constantly changing continuum.","PeriodicalId":42545,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik Volgogradskogo Gosudarstvennogo Universiteta-Seriya 2-Yazykoznanie","volume":"35 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88375650","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The basic principles of nominating in the field of education are identified by considering the internal conceptual structure of the language units under analysis; inter-variational differences and alterations are stated by categorical-and-semantic comparability of the differentiation semes in the nominations of three sectors of the conceptual field \"Education\".
