The increasingly substantial presence of video within performances, even if filmed in real-time, is one example that has called into question the fundamental concept of hic et nunc. The creation of performances for a single spectator has altered the anthropological binomial community/ritual in addition to the \"non-human\" entity of the performer, from metal theater to cyborg performance (Schrum). The Royal Shakespeare Company's new production (2021) Dream will be analyzed to discuss the particular artistic experimentation that has become widespread in the Covid era. This production, which is a technological performance watched by more than 20,000 people worldwide in just three days, brings performance and gaming technology together to explore new ways for the audience, a remote spectator, to experience live theater (Aebischer 21). As live play performances and readings continually crowd virtual platforms, theater is undergoing a radical shift from stage to screen and cyberspace. However, will these new formats survive in the post-pandemic times?","PeriodicalId":42544,"journal":{"name":"Altre Modernita-Rivista di Studi Letterari e Culturali","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2022-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48848999","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moreover, for Charaudeau it is a tool to orient a particular interpretation of the facts, and to convey a certain image of a public character. \u0000In this paper, we analyse with a quantitative and qualitative approach the way in which journalists construct the image of government representatives through the use reporting verbs to introduce reported speech (Reyes 16-22) and the attitudes and emotions these verbs denote (Escribano, Voces 11). The speed at which this pandemic spread in the initial weeks led governments to take drastic measures in order to contain its devastating effects. To this end, lockdowns were imposed in many countries which lasted for months, affecting people’s lives in important respects. The way in which the general public was apprised of these restrictions deserves attention, as communication plays a major role at the time of implementing measures impacting on people’s freedoms. Based on these considerations, this paper provides a comparison of the rhetorical devices adopted by national governments to inform the public of the beginning of the lockdown. Specifically, the statements with which the Prime Ministers of Italy and the UK announced the implementation of lockdown measures will be examined, with a view to investigating their linguistic features in both Italian and English.","PeriodicalId":42544,"journal":{"name":"Altre Modernita-Rivista di Studi Letterari e Culturali","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2022-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44603859","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Čechov sono presenti testimonianze scritte durante il periodo della quinta ondata della pandemia di colera. Originatasi in India e in Asia Centrale nel 1883, arrivò in Russia negli anni 1892-1893, dove causò la morte di circa 400 000 persone. Čechov, in quanto medico di professione, nel 1892 si dedicò all’attività di dottore, fornendo cure ai contadini dei numerosi villaggi situati intorno alla sua tenuta di Melichovo, rifiutando qualsiasi compenso. Questa esperienza si riflette sia nei documenti relativi alla sua attività professionale, sia nella sua eredità epistolare, che viene considerata dagli studiosi parte integrante della sua prosa letteraria in quanto ne presenta le stesse caratteristiche stilistiche e narrative. Questo articolo analizza la rappresentazione di quei tragici eventi da una doppia prospettiva: da un lato dal punto di vista di Čechov-medico e dall’altro dal punto di vista di Čechov-scrittore. Si pone attenzione ai seguenti aspetti: 1) la descrizione del colera come un essere animato, tratto tipico del meccanismo di mitologizzazione della malattia nell’immaginario collettivo; 2) la rappresentazione degli umori apocalittici presenti nel popolo, che conferiscono all'epidemia lo status di punizione celeste; 3) la considerazione dei focolai dell’epidemia come ʻspazi mortiʼ.","PeriodicalId":42544,"journal":{"name":"Altre Modernita-Rivista di Studi Letterari e Culturali","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2022-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43316584","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
