For the purpose; firstly, the effects of climate change were defined and a two-stage literature review was conducted. In the first stage, in order to understand the relationship between climate change adaptation and spatial planning the indicators by which spatial planning of adaptation to climate change can be evaluated were examined. The prominent issues for spatial adaptation to climate change have been identified as including spatial adaptation policies, governance model, implementation level, participation and the role of technology. In the second stage, literature was reviewed again on the prominent issues and the smart governance was obtained in it. Then, the scope of the smart governance approach in spatial adaptation to climate change in Turkey was discussed through spatial planning principles, participation, local level and technology. The \"content analysis\" method, which allows descriptive evaluations over the literature, was used as a research method. As a result, spatial planning principles and relevant actors were identified at the local level, but some deficiencies in the use of technology were determined. Therefore, it has been asserted that smart governance in spatial adaptation to climate change in Turkey has the potential and is open to development, but it has not yet reached sufficient scope. The appearance of designs shaped by the developing informa-tion and technology in modern styles and forms in urban areas has accelerated the dynamic structure of cities even more. However, as a result of these designs which are produced inde-pendently of the existing urban forms, the original elements of the urban environments have started to disappear. Neverthe-less, cities, which are formed by the interaction between human and natural environment, differ as a result of different so-cial needs and the spatial organizations. The user transfers his/ her values to the space and gains original elements in historical process. In this context, the question of which processes the urban fabric differs through and how these processes will be presented emerges. In this study, which aims to present a theoretical and methodological framework on the definition and historicity of urban character, the change of urban space will be discussed. In the methodology section of the research, urban morphology which enables to analyze the formation processes of urban space, and the \"redevelopment cycle\" developed by Conzen will be discussed. Historic city centers, which are the most important areas where unique values of different periods are observed in cities and the products of a historical process, are important in terms of the theoretical framework of the research. This study, which is carried out in Eski Keresteciler Çarşısı (Izmir), is intended to be a guide for researchers in similar studies.","PeriodicalId":42464,"journal":{"name":"Planlama-Planning","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67329332","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two of the Ottoman period buildings in Edirne, the Macedonian campus and the Sarayiçi campus were selected as sample sites for geophysical surveys. Both settlements are important settlements that are actively used within the urban area today. Therefore, the unearthing of the underground archaeological remains of these settlements constitutes an important database in the design of the site's settlement plan. High-resolution Geophysical applications were carried out as underlining the design of both the Macedonian campus and the Sarayiçi campus. In the Macedonia campus garden as often as possible at intervals of 1m in line with the campus electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) when determining the un- derground ruins of the Ottoman period by applying, in the Sarayiçi campus georadar (GPR) with 500 MHz shielded antenna using parallel profiles 1m spaced at 5 cm intervals on method 20.000 m 2 was investigated. Recently demolished sports venues were identified, and one of them was selected as a case. Sports venues, which are significant urban landmarks due to their architectural features, lead urban life through sports and other activities. This study examined the issue in question and evaluated the general situ- ation within the context of the city of Trabzon. This study also pointed out the roles that sports venues played in the urban life of Trabzon, and the meanings they were attributed, and the effect of their demolition. First, a literature review was con- ducted to determine the duties and meanings of the sports venues in the city. Second, a survey was conducted to determine the effect of their demolition. The results show that although the sports venues are extremely important for urban identity and collective memory, their values are underappreciated, and therefore, their demolition is a great loss. The demolition of those structures has negative effects on the city and its dwell-ers. In conclusion, cities are rapidly changing and resembling each other. Therefore, urban values should be preserved in or-der to maintain urban identity, to preserve the sense of belong- ing, and to prevent alienation. We believe that sports venues should survive with similar functions to preserve urban life and sports culture and to reduce the impact of demolition on city and its dwellers.","PeriodicalId":42464,"journal":{"name":"Planlama-Planning","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67328270","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They provide ecological, social, recreational, and spatial contributions to cities, with many different typologies. It is possible to reflect these contributions (multifunctional) to the urban space with a systematic approach. In this context, both in the world and in Turkey, many goals, strategies, and standards regarding open-green space have been developed/being developed. In recent years, the concept of the nation garden, which has historical importance, has come to the fore as an open-green space typology in Turkey. This concept has also started to be addressed with different open-green space strategies. Accordingly in this study, the role of nation garden concept in the planning and design processes of the open-green space system was examined. In this context, the historical development of different open-green space typologies in the world and in Turkey has been emphasized. In the next stage, the legal-ad-ministrative structure in Turkey regarding open-green spaces was examined. For this purpose, determinations were made regarding the effect of the Nation Garden Guideline, put forward by the central administration, on the planning and design of the open-green space system. Ultimately, some suggestions were made for the integration of nation gardens with ecological corridors, which were also brought to the agenda by the central administration. Thus, a base that can lead to the integration of the nation garden concept with other open-green spaces and the planning and design process of a competent open-green space system has been put forward.","PeriodicalId":42464,"journal":{"name":"Planlama-Planning","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67328309","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
